Comments: Once I found a dune buggy
toy I could use to make into
Beachcomber, I picked up a second
one to turn into Sandstorm. Instead of chopping pieces off, like I
did with Beachcomber, I ended up adding lots of extra pieces. The spoiler
is from another car (one I had considered using for Springer at one point).
I used sheets of plastic to cover up the roll cage, since in the cartoon
it's drawn as a solid block. (I suspect his animation model was designed
using an unfinished toy without stickers as a reference. This would
also explain why his engine block is black in the cartoon, even though it's
vacuum metalized chrome on the Hasbro toy.)
What's even more curious is that somebody didn't
realize that Sandstorm already had a roll cage, so they invented
another one, placing it over top of the first one, that's not even
present on the actual toy. What, is this guy just really afraid
of flipping over? Still, we strive for accuracy here at the ZMFTS,
so I reproduced his cartoon appearance most faithfully here... even though
it's rather silly. |
