Preamble: Blue Moon and his buddies are
probably among the most well-known generic Decepticon jets. At the
time of this writing, none of the generic characters from this episode have
official names, though I am certain either Hasbro or Takara will eventually
assign identities to the characters that will, by default, supersede the
names I gave them. In any event, these are the guys who were hanging
out on Cybertron when Megatron gave them a call and ordered them to create
some nasty weather for a small group of Autobots looking for a component
to repair the ailing Optimus Prime. Blue Moon (and his buddies
Limelight and
Goldwing) didn't get much screen
time, but they're all pretty distinct in a monochromatic kind of way, so
they tend to stand out in people's minds.
Construction: Blue Moon is an odd shade
of off-blue. I mixed in a little bit of purple, but I didn't want to
go too much into that end of the spectrum since I wanted him to be visually
distinct from Wasteland. This
guy is almost entirely blue except for a grey midsection, which means that
if his vehicle mode were ever adapted to an Earth form, he'd have one
seriously ugly jet mode. But I digress.
Addendum: I've been just leaving the Decepticon
symbols on the wings unpainted, but the Thundercracker figure I ended up
with was missing symbols on both his wings. I guess somebody at Takara
fell asleep at the tampo-printing end of the assembly line or something.
BLUE MOON
FUNCTION: TECHNOLOGICAL WARFARE
"Resistance is useless!"
BLUE MOON is the closest thing the Decepticons
have to a dedicated scientist. Reclusive...spends most of his time
in his lab...ventures out into the world only on rare occasions.
Specializes in modifying the other Decepticons' weaponry for greater
destructive potential. As cybertronic jet, uses crater bombs. As
robot, carries two acid cannons that can disperse a metal-eating compound
throughout a four-mile radius.
