PUNCH (DIE-CAST)

PROJECT #411

BASE VEHCILE: HOT WHEELS PONTIAC FIERO
MATERIALS USED: ACRYLIC PAINTS
FIRST APPEARANCE: "THE REBIRTH" PART 1

"Wingspan and Pounce!  What are those spies up to?  Time for me to do a little spying of my own..."

Comments:  For a long time, I've been wanting to create die-cast versions of Punch and Counterpunch (the Autobot double spy and his Decepticon alter-identity), but it took me a while to track down the right vehicles.  In the end, my patience paid off when I got two Pontiac Fieros from 1984 off an eBay auction that ended at one cent.  (Yay!)  I had originally been planning to represent both characters with one car, cutting a hole in the roof of the car and devising some kind of panel that would flip, revealing either an Autobot or Decepticon symbol.  I don't have the right tools to cut metal with the kind of precision  I needed,  though, so I ended up painting two separate cars instead.

"...as a Decepticon!"

Comments: With a lot of my early die-cast repaints, I just sort of held the car by the wheels and tried to paint as much of the body as I could get the paintbrush to touch.  Lately, I've been drilling into the bolts holding the cars together and disassembling them completely so I can paint them more thoroughly.  This also enables me to add side windows to cars that don't have any, as was the case with Punch and Counterpunch here.
