| OUTBACK
(DIE-CAST)
PROJECT #343
CLASSIFICATION: KITBASH
BASE VEHICLE: MAISTO FORD GP
MEDIA APPEARANCE: "THE QUINTESSON JOURNAL," ET AL.
"Rules are detours on the road of life."
Comments: I originally started working
on Outback around the same time as the other 1986 Mini Autobots. The
problem was that the base vehicle
wasn't really a good match (the position of the front bumper and its complete
lack of doors and windows were both problematic), and not even a new coat
of paint made it look very recognizable, so I shelved the project for
a long time. More recently, after I began making physical modifications
to my projects on regular basis, I approached the project again, this time
making the needed alterations.
I used some scrap plastic to build doors for the toy, and glued pieces
of sheet plastic in place for the windows. I also rebuilt the front
bumper, built a turret gun out of some spare PVC parts, and added lots of
other little details for the sake of authenticity. |
