| BUMPER
(DIE-CAST)
PROJECT #299
CLASSIFICATION: REPAINT
BASE VEHICLE: VENDING MACHINE TOY
MEDIA APPEARANCE: SEE BELOW
Comments: For those who don't know,
Bumper (more commonly called Bumblejumper) was sort of a leftover Transformers
toy, officially sold and packaged by Hasbro as part of the toy line, but
never assigned a name or identity of his own. He just got lost in the
shuffle, one supposes. It's a common misconception that he's just a
yellow version of Cliffjumper, but actually he's a different vehicle type
with a completely different head sculpt. (Incidentally, there is a
yellow, unidentified robot who appears in The Transformers: the Movie,
seen being dropped into Unicron's processing vat. I'm sure the
animators intended for it to be a random generic character, but I like to
pretend it's Bumper making a rare screen appearance.)
And yes, for the record, I am well aware that
Dreamwave Productions has, in fact, included Bumper in some of their comic
books. (Feel free to pretend that this somehow magically rescues him
from the annals of obscurity, if it makes you happy.)
BUMPER
FUNCTION: ARCHAEOLOGIST
"It's not how deep you dig; it's the
discoveries you make."
BUMPER is the definitive optimist...confident
in his success no matter the odds. Tends to annoy the Autobots instead
of inspire them. Role on Earth is to uncover ancient Cybertron artifacts.
As car, has shock-absorbing plating that resists impact...will usually
ricochet away from point of impact unharmed. Optic sensors use broadband
scanning beams...determines landscape composition, finds weak points in
Decepticon armor. Vulnerable to explosions and electrical attacks.
Overestimates his effectiveness in battle.
