Comments: I didn't really know
what I was going to make the Insecticons out of when I started building them.
I've been amassing spare parts for projects for years now, though,
so I figured I'd have a sufficient pool of resources to draw from. (It's
interesting how certain pieces of kitbashing fodder immediately jump out
at me as the perfect wings, guns, etc. when I'd never actually looked at
them that way before.)
Bombshell's body is built out of the left foot
of a Raiden PVC figure and part of the upper body of a Slingshot knockoff.
(I've gotten so much mileage out of those bootleg Aerialbot parts that
it's not even funny.) I cobbled his stinger together using the guns
from Thundercracker and Wheeljack PVC figures who I previously turned into
other characters who didn't have weaponry.
One of the artifacts of Bombshell originating
from the Diaclone toy line is that he's not so much a beetle as a beetle-shaped
vehicle, complete with wheels and opening canopy for a driver. The
vestigal wheels were mercifully toned down when his animation model was designed
for television.
