Epilogue
Dark Reflection: Epilogue
Saying farewell to their Dragon friends, Zeth, Destiny, Sani, and Celebi returned to the secret temple in the Granite Mountains. There, they were surprised to find Mewtwo and Giovanni waiting for them.
"What are you doing here?" Destiny asked, as she stepped into the temple, now lit only by a glow from Mewtwo. The Orbs and pendant were gone, apparently having disappeared now that their work was done.
"We came to say goodbye," Mewtwo told her. "We've decided not to stay here in Obsidia. The Dragons have things under control here, and Giovanni wouldn't be welcome here anyway. Soon, we will be traveling back to Kanto, where we'll try to drive out the remaining Rockets."
Zeth shot them a look of confusion, "You're actually going to work together now? I thought you hated each other."
Celebi shook his head, "Times change. The future is whatever we make it, and I, for one, hope that Mewtwo and Giovanni can create a glorious future for their world."
"And what about you, Celebi?" Giovanni asked the fairy. "What are your plans for the future?"
Celebi smiled, "After I return Belkor's ball to its resting place, I plan to stay around for a while. I'll eventually go back to my own pokéball, but for the moment, I wish to take the time to enjoy life. After all, life is wonderful."
Mewtwo stared at Celebi for a moment, getting a faraway look in his eyes. "Yes," he said, as if remembering something from long ago. "Yes it is." Smiling, the clone glanced at Destiny. "I suppose you and your friends are going back to your own world now."
"Yes, we are," Destiny confirmed. "We've been away for quite a while, and I'm looking forward to going back."
"So am I," Zeth agreed. The teen turned to Giovanni, "Do me a favor, will you? Let my counterpart out of that dungeon you have me trapped in, okay?"
The former Rocket nodded in agreement. "That's the first entry on my list of things to do."
"Thanks. That means a lot to me."
Sani waved toward the door on the other end of the temple. "So, shall we all go home?"
Destiny took one last look at the temple, and at Mewtwo, Giovanni, and Celebi. "Yeah, let's go."
{But not without me!} Destiny turned as Snow landed on the ground behind her. {I'm going to come with you!}
"You really want to come with us?" Destiny asked the Pidgey as Zeth grabbed his pokédex so it could translate for him. "You know that if you come, you might never get to go home again. Are you sure that this is what you want to do?"
{Yeah, I want to do this,} Snow told her. {This has been the biggest adventure I've ever been on. It may have been dangerous, and a bit scary, but it was also kinda fun. I have a feeling that you'll have plenty of other adventures, and I want to be there when they happen!}
"Well, as long as the rest of my adventures aren't as life-threatening as this one was, I'll be happy." Destiny took out a pokéball. "Welcome to the team, Snow. It'll be great to have you along." Destiny tossed the pokéball, which drew the Pidgey inside and fell to the floor, with the indicator lit blue to signify that the capture was successful. Destiny clipped the ball to her belt, then turned to her friends, "Was that it? Can we go now?"
"Nothing left for me to do here," Sani said. "I'm ready to go."
"Same here," Zeth added.
Destiny smiled, "Then let's get out of here!"
Saying goodbye to Mewtwo and Giovanni, Destiny led her friends out of the temple, into their own world. As they walked out, the stone door shut behind them, locking the gateway between their world and the mirror world. "I'm glad to see that shut," Zeth remarked. "Even if it means that we'll never see anyone from there ever again, at least we can be sure that no one can come through and cause trouble over here."
"Still, it was interesting," Sani said. "It makes you wonder if there are more universes out there that are like our own, but different in some way. It'd be neat to find out."
Destiny shook her head, "One world's enough for me. I'm sure that there's more to do on just this one planet then we can manage to finish in our whole lives."
Zeth grinned at that, "Yeah, I think you're right. Speaking of adventure and exploration, what are our plans now? Do the two of you want to come with me on my pokémon journey?"
Destiny shrugged, "Sure, I guess we might as well, since we have nothing else to do at the moment."
"Not me," Sani told them. "I'm going to go home. Maybe I'll catch up with you two sometime, but for the moment, I just want to take a nice long break. Besides," she added, "I want to go brag to everyone about everything we did."
"Sounds good to me. Remember to skip the part where we were panicked out of our minds when we first met Mewtwo."
"Panicked?" Sani said with a straight face. "Oh no, we weren't panicked. We were so bold that Mewtwo was scared of us!"
Zeth made a face, "Well, in the spirit of exaggeration, you can tell them of how Belkor blasted me into oblivion and then Celebi reconstructed all my little pieces back together."
"Ooo, that's a good one!" Sani agreed. "I'll have to remember that."
"Yeah, you do that." Zeth waved to a strange vehicle that was parked on the ledge a short distance away. "I should tell you about all the stuff I went through while I was looking for my Orbs! Like the story of how I battled, then saved, Articuno and got that little airship afterwards... Or how I got drafted into the Dragons, then teemed up with a giant Dragonite to escape!"
Sani giggled, "You're just trying to outdo us!"
"Don't worry, Sani, he can't beat us," Destiny told her friend. "We saw Ho-oh and he didn't!"
The Mew laughed, "Yeah, you're right! Too bad that had to be spoiled by the Rockets. Hey, that reminds me... What happened to Connolly? I haven't seen him since Belkor was first released."
"I think I saw him fleeing with the rest of the Rockets," Zeth said. "Chances are, the Dragons will find him and I'd hate to be him when they do."
They were silent for a moment, thinking of what would happen to the traitor. Finally, Sani broke the silence, "Well, I guess that's it, then. I'm going to go home now. You need a ride, or does that thing over there actually fly?"
Zeth glanced at his airship, "Yeah, it flies. Not as fast as you, but it's good enough."
"In that case, you can find your own way back." Sani floated over to Destiny and gave her a quick hug, "I'll see you later, Dest. You too, Zeth."
Destiny grabbed her friend's hand, before the Mew could fly away. "Goodbye to you too, Sani. Just make sure to come around for a visit sometime soon."
"Don't worry, Dest, I won't wait years before I come too see you again. I'm far too impatient to wait that long!" As Destiny let go of Sani's hand, the Mew shot up into the air. She turned and waved, then rocketed away.
"We'll see her again," Zeth commented, as they lost sight of Sani.
"You think so?"
Smiling, Zeth nodded, "I know so." Turning, Zeth led Destiny to his airship, the Skylark. As the little aircraft sailed away into the sky, the ledge was left empty, except for one last occupant.
Floating straight through the closed rock door to the gateway temple, Celebi watched the Skylark floating away. "You have an interesting future ahead of you," he said, although there was no one around to hear him. "I hope it remains as bright as it seems now."
