Chapter 9
Chapter 9: The Laboratory of the mysterious Pokemon!
Hello again. Cast your minds back to the SS Dove. There, our friends caught some new Pokemon by fishing. Matt caught a Magikarp and Goldeen, among other types of water Pokemon. Then in Chapter 8, our friends landed on Gold Island, and walked up the cliff to the old Laboratory. There, Matt made an amazing discovery, he met his long-lost brother!!!!!
"I don't believe it! Paul, is - is that really you?!" Cried Matt in disbelief.
"Of course it is Matt! How come you are here?" replied Paul, wide-eyed.
"I've started my Pokemon journey of course! What happened to your journey? Mum and I haven't heard from you in five years!"
"Well, I did get eight badges, but all of a sudden I didn't want to be a trainer anymore. I couldn't face coming back home in disgrace, so I gave my life to Pokemon research instead." Paul explained. "Do you want to come in? You can meet my mentor, Professor Beech."
"Sure, thanks."
Inside there was a big entrance hall, the walls and ceiling filled with carvings of mysterious and rare Pokemon, including Kabuto, Kabutops, Omanyte, Omastar, Aerodactyl and Dragonite. There were also a few carvings of a small, pink Pokemon. At the end of the hall was a big picture of a tall, white and purple Pokemon.
"What's that?" Matt asked.
"That is one of the rarest Pokemon of all, Mewtwo." A young woman aid, emerging from a door in a white coat. "Created by splicing the genes of Mew, it was built to be the ultimate Pokemon. But, it rebelled against its creators and turned wild. Just recently it has been causing problems to Icy the Pikachu, just after he was resurrected from death."
"Please, tell me more of Icy," Matt asked.
"Icy was once a young boy like yourself, but Team Rocket turned him into a Pikachu. Bill and Mewtwo came up with a cure for him, but it wore off.
"Icy then went on the search for an ancient Caterpie, Frosterpie. After collecting seven discs, and placing them in two generators, Earth and Ether, Icy's group travelled to the Gi Desert. Meanwhile and evil army of Mew commanded by the Emperor Mewtine were planning to destroy the Poke-Earth. Fortunately, Mewtwo destroyed Mewtine's ship, but unfortunately it wasn't in time to stop the powerful laser form hitting the Gi Desert where Icy's team were reviving Frosterpie. Icy was frozen in the attack.
"Just recently I heard that Icy was revived. I don't know much more than that." Said Prof. Beech.
"Thanks. I'll be glad to meet Icy in person."
"I'm sure the time will come. Paul has been telling me all about you. Please, come through." Said Prof. Beech. "I understand you like Grass Pokemon Matt."
"Yeah, how did you know?" Matt replied.
"Your brother. Oh, I have a Pokemon to show you. My cousin found it on an expedition in Antarctica, but I have no idea what it is. I think it represents a symbol of some kind." Prof. Beech led them into a laboratory filled with massive glass cases with all kinds of Pokemon inside. Mankey were climbing trees eating bananas, Nidoran were just sitting eating apples.
"Oh, here it is." Prof. Beech said as she led the group to the centre of the room. There was another glass case with a really strange black shape inside. "I still don't know its name. I'm going to send it off to Prof. Utsugi for closer examination."
"What Pokemon have you caught so far Matt?" Asked Paul.
"I'll show you. GO, BULBASAUR, PIDGEY, GOLDEEN, SHELLDER AND MAGIKARP!"
"Saur?"
"Piiiidgeeey?"
"Gol? Goldeen Goldeen?
"Magi karp karp karp!"
"I also have a Squirtle, but he's in the Pokemon Center, and a Rattata." Matt said. Suddenly, the Mysterious Pokemon started glowing blue, and so did Goldeen and Magikarp. Right then, they evolved into a Seaking and Gyarados!
"Oh my god!" Yelled Cheryl. "What's going on? They're both only on Lv 10!"
"We'll have to study these Pokemon right away." Paul said with astonishment.
"Yes Matt, do you mind if we borrow these Pokemon? I think they are Psychic and anything we find may prove my theory - any Pokemon that is not the Psychic element can still learn Psychic moves!
"Of course I'll need to give you something in return. I know you are interested in Grass Pokemon so I'll give you a Bellsprout. I only recently caught it, but it is an orphan, and it has been waiting for a trainer. Here Matt, you can have it."
"Well, thanks. Take good care of Gol - Oh, I mean Seaking for me. Good bye Professor, goodbye Paul."
The three said goodbye then walked out the laboratory and back down to the Pokemon Center. Matt withdrew Squirtle, then, for the first time he noticed a Poster on the wall.
