Duel Pokémon
Season I-The Legend of Mew
Episode I-Duel in Dice
"Okay Mr. Cruz you're grandson is completely registered for Jay High," the principal said signing the last papers.
"Well thank you sir," Mr. Cruz said taking the signed paper.
"I hope you enjoy you're time at our school Billy," and with that the principal stood up and walked to the door. Both Mr. Cruz and Billy followed the principal.
"I will get one of our students to show you around," the principal said, "Mr. Cruz you can leave now."
"Bye Grandpa" Billy said hugging his grandpa.
"Make you're parents proud," he said as he left.
Billy followed the principal until they reached a gym. Inside there was a Holofield for playing Duel Pokémon, on the field there was a Jolteon facing off against an Onix. Billy knew who was going to win before the Pokémon even engaged in battle.
"As you can see we have a Holofield. Our school is ranked 3 in the league in Duel Pokémon," the principal said, "Do you play?" he asked.
"Yeah a little," Billy said looking back into the gym.
"Wait here," the principal entered the gym and came back 2 minutes later with a girl.
She was about Billy age, which was 16; she was 5'8" and had blonde hair that was about 3 inches below her shoulders.
"Billy this is Terri," the principal said, "she will show you around the school and to you're first class."
"Hi," Billy said shaking Terri's hand.
They started walking around school, Terri showed him where the cafeteria and other places like that were.
"The principal told me you like to play Duel Pokémon," Terri said as they rounded a corner.
"Yeah, my parents were tournament duelist," Billy said looking around.
"Oh?" she said, "then why are you going to this school."
"My parents died in a plane crash," Billy bluntly said.
"I'm sorry," Terri said.
"Thanks," Billy said his voice started to crack, "they were in a plane crash on their way back from a tournament in Japan."
"They taught you everything you know about the game huh?"
"Yeah, I haven't even touched my deck since there death," Billy said with a tear in his eye.
"Oh poor you," Terri said.
"My Grandpa took me in after no one in my family would," Billy said.
Terri didn't know what to say, she stopped walking.
"Why did you stop?" Billy asked surprised.
"Where here by you first class," she said opening the door.
"Oh," Billy said walking in.
"So I guess I will see you around," Terri said leaving.
"Yeah," Billy said, "and thanks."
After school was over Billy was walking home, when he heard someone call his name. He turned around to find it was Terri.
"Terri?" Billy said surprised.
"Billy!" she said catching up to him, "What's up?"
"Nothing," Billy said, "I just wasn't expecting to see you again."
"What you don't like me?" she joked.
"No of course I do its just," Billy said, "ever since my parents death people don't want to hang around me."
"Well I'm not like other people," she said smiling at him, "Do you want to head over to the Dice Shop?"
"Dice Shop?" Billy said confused.
"The Dice Shop is where everyone goes to hang out after school," she said, "you can eat there and they even have a Holofield for duels."
"You really want me to start dueling again don't you?" Billy asked.
"Well yeah," Terri said, "I did some research and read up about you're parents from what I read they left you there one very rare card for you."
"Yeah," Billy said remembering when the lawyer handed him on of two extremely rare cards his parents had left, his grandpa got the other one.
"That is…" she started to say.
"No you're right it about time I let my parents go…besides I bet they wish I was dueling," Billy said.
"Well then it settled lets go," Terri said turning around.
"Yeah," Billy said following her.
They reached the Dice Shop in about 5 minutes, "Well here we are," Terri said opening the door to the shop.
Inside there was booth for people who wanted to eat and in another section there were Holofields, they weren't as big as the one at the school and the holograms weren't as detailed but no one seemed to care as there were 3 duels going on.
"I order, you go and get us a booth," Terri said walking up to the counter. Billy started looking around for a booth; he found one right in the middle of the Holofields. Right as he sat down Terri appeared with a whole pizza pie. "I hope you're hungry," she said placing the pizza on the table.
"You bet," Billy said taking a slice and started eating.
"So what is this rare card you're parents left for you?" Terri asked.
"Well," Billy said swallowing his food, "a Mew card."
"Mew?" Terri said, "I've heard of that card, aren't there only like 5 of those in the whole world?"
"Try 6," Billy said, "but the card my Grandpa got is even better."
"What is it?" Terri asked intrigued.
"I don't know actually," Billy said feeling a little stupid, "he said he will tell me what it is when the time is right."
"Oh," Terri said taking a bite of her pizza slice.
"Who is this at our table?" a kind of scruffy voice said from behind Terri.
"Great…Duke," Terri said sarcastically.
"Terri, baby is that you?" Duke said walking up to where Billy was sitting.
Duke was about 6'6" a pretty tall dude, wearing a black leather jacket which had the back of a Duel card picture with his name sown right on his left breast pocket. Billy noticed about 6 other guys with the same jacket but with different names on it.
"Duke leave," Terri said in annoyed voice.
"Aww come on babe," he said shoving Billy out of his seat and taking it, "I'm going to ask you one more time, go out with me."
"How about you drop dead," she said starting to stand up until one of the other guys put there arm on her shoulder shoving her back into her seat.
Billy slowly got up, "What?"
"Who is he?" one of the other guys said.
"I'm Billy Cruz," Billy said standing up.
"So you went and got yourself a boyfriend?" Duke said, "Listen Cruz…no one takes my Terri okay."
"You're Terri?!" Terri said extremely angrily, "I'm no ones girl!"
"Leave her alone," Billy said coming to her defense.
"You must be new here Cruz," Duke said," you see this jacket, I'm head of the Duel Pokémon team for Jay High so if I was you I would just back off."
Billy started to walk away," No," he said under his breath.
"What was that kid?" Duke said smiling.
"You let go of her!" Billy said.
"Or what you're going to take us all on?" Duke said.
Billy just looked at him through gritted teeth.
"No he challenges you to a duel!" Terri said.
"This dweeb!?" Duke said with a laugh, "he probably couldn't even lay a trainer card down without falling over," he yelled out with a laugh.
"Come on Billy duel him," Terri said.
"I…I-I-can't," Billy said looking down.
"Like I said," Duke said laughing his goon laughed with him, "you better leave dweeb."
"Yeah you little weakling," one of Dukes guys said.
"Go home a cry to you're mother," another said.
That hit home, Billy turned around and pointed at Duke, " I challenge you to a duel!" he screamed.
"Okay dweeb," Duke said, "but you're not worth my time, Jon will be you're opponent."
"Prepare to lose stupid," Jon said.
5 minutes later Billy entered on side of a Holofield and Jon stood on the other side.
"Dweeb it will be a standard duel," Duke said his arm around Terri as she struggled to get out. "2000 life points each first one to reach 0 loses."
"Its time to duel," Billy said smiling.
"Yeah well its time to lose," Jon said putting his deck down a drawing 6 cards Billy did the same thing.
"Good luck Billy," Terri yelled up to him.
"For my first Pokémon I will play Squirtle in attack mode," Jon said laying the Pokémon card on the reader, in a brilliant flash of life the monster appeared on the Holofield.
"Squirtle," the Pokémon said as it appeared, its attack was 1200 its defense was 1400.
"Then I will play Eevee in attack mode," Billy said laying a card on the reader, Eevee appeared on the field, its attack was 900 its defense was 1000 "and I play this trainer card."
"Ha my Squirtle is stronger!" Jon said, "Attack!"
Squirtle ran towards Eevee and jumped inside its shell spinning, it was about to hit Eevee when the Pokémon started to glow.
"What?" Jon said confused.
"If you were paying attention you would know that I played a trainer card, and that Trainer card was Thunder Stone!" Billy said flipping the card around revealing the Thunder Stone.
"No!" Jon yelled. His Squirtle flew into the light but when the light finally subsided Squirtle was standing in front of a Jolteon.
"Jolteon Thunder Ball attack!" Billy yelled.
Jolteon charged up a big electric ball over its head and shot it at Squirtle, the electric ball hit the Pokémon in a big cloud of smoke, when the smoke subsided Squirtle was still there hiding in its shell.
"What? But how?" Billy said confused.
"As you see Squirtle has the ability to hid in its shell protecting it from you're Jolteon's attack," Jon said.
"Stupid dweeb," Duke said.
Jon drew a card from his deck, "Okay I play this card!" he laid it out on the reader, and a Pidgey appeared, 1000/1000, "and I combine Pidgey with the Evolution Card Breeder."
"Evolution Card?" Billy said.
"Yes this card lets me evolve my Pidgey to its final stage without needing to draw my Pidgeot card!" Pidgey started to glow and when it stopped glowing it was a Pidgeot, 2000/2000. "And I attack with Whirlwind!"
"Jolteon is still stronger Thunder Ball attack!" Billy yelled but Jolteon was engulfed in a huge tornado, when the tornado dissipated Jolteon was nowhere on the field.
"What where is Jolteon?" Billy said.
"Ha thats the power of Whirlwind," Jon said laughing, "it removes all you're trainer cards and returns you're devolved Eevee back into you're hand and causes you to play you're weakest Pokémon in you're hand!"
{I got to give him credit that was a good move;} Billy looked at his hand. {The weakest Pokémon in my hand is Spearow.} Billy played the card.
"Row," the Pokémon said appearing.
"Pidgeot attack it remove it from the field," Jon said. Pidgeot flew towards the Pokémon and grabbed it in its talons squeezing it, then with one final squeeze the Pokémon disappeared, and Billy's Life Points was reduced to 1000.
"Boy when Terri asked you to duel Duke, I thought you might actually have some experience," Jon said with a laugh.
"Trust me I have more experience than you ever will," Billy said drawing a card from his deck, {I don't have any Pokémon in my hand strong enough to combat against two Pokémon, I will have to play the Pokémon in defense mode the Pokémon will lose but my LP will be saved;} Billy though as he laid a card down.
"Attack!" Jon yelled, his Pidgeot obeyed by attacking the Pokémon that turned out to be a Kakuna.
"No," Terri whispered under her breath.
"Better believe it babe," Duke said trying to kiss Terri she smacked him.
At the same time Jon's Pidgeot was killing Pokémon after Pokémon, it seemed hopeless for Billy.
"You should give up," Jon said, "you can barely defend yourself against a Pidgeot, so what chance do you have when I play the actual Pidgeot card?" Jon played the card, another Pidgeot appeared.
"You may have the field advantage but I wont give up," Billy drew a card, "and my determination pays off with Raichu the electric mouse!"
"Raichu," the Pokémon said appearing on the field, 2200/1000. "Raichu Thunder Storm attack!"
Raichu surged with electricity as a cloud appeared above Jon's Pokémon; the electric attack hit both Pidgeot killing them instantly Squirtle was saved thanks to its Withdrawal defense.
Life Points
Jon 1600
Billy 1000
"Alright Billy!" Terri said cheering him on.
"You got luck dweeb," Duke said.
At this time a crowd was starting to form around the Holofield more and more people started watching the duel.
"Jon going to win his on the team," one said.
"Naw…you got to root for the underdog," another said.
"Well played," Jon said drawing a card, "but that Pokémon is going down, I play this monster in attack mode."
"Arbok!" the Pokémon said, 2200/1900.
"But that Pokémon has the same attack power as Raichu," Billy said.
"Which is why I play this Trainer Card face down," Jon said placing a card face down, "and I end my turn."
"Then I draw," Billy said drawing a card, {I don't know why he just ended his turn it must have something to do with that Trainer Card.} "I place this Trainer Card face down and play this…" Billy said putting a Pokémon on the field.
"Scyther!" 2200/2100
"Attack Raichu!" Raichu attacked Arbok.
"I play my card," Jon said turning it over, "Toxic."
"Toxic?" Billy said.
"Yeah dweeb, it raises a Poison's Pokémon attack by 10%," Duke said with a smile.
"Making it stronger than my Raichu!" Billy said.
"Right its attack power is now 2420 attack it Arbok!" Jon yelled, Arbok slithered to Raichu and bit the Pokémon in its huge jaws the Pokémon disappeared and with it 220 of Billy's LP putting him at 780. "Now I am one step closer to winning this amateur duel."
"Looks like you're boyfriend really sucks when it comes to duels," Duke said tighten his grip on Terri.
"He's not my boyfriend and he's a better duelist than Jon!" she yelped.
{I wish I could have that much confidence in myself as you do Terri;} Billy thought, {I just don't see a way out of this duel…but I can't give up, I've seen my parents come back from the brink of defeat and so am I.} "You not going to win this duel Jon!" Billy screamed at him.
"Screaming isn't going to help the fact that while I have a cool 1600 you have a sparse 780," Jon said with a laugh.
"I just got to trust my deck I may have stopped dueling for a year but my deck hasn't change and it cant fail me," Billy said to himself as he reached and drew a card. {This magic card is just what I need.} "Scyther go to defense mode," Billy took Scyther's card and turned it sideways, "and I play this Trainer Card." Now Billy had two Trainer Cards out.
"It doesn't matter what that card is attack!" Jon's Arbok attacked Scyther biting it and destroying it.
A smile came across Billy's face, "Now you did it."
"Did what?" Jon asked.
"Destroying my Scyther activates my Trap Card," Billy picked it up and showed it to Jon, "Haunter's Hypnosis."
"Never heard of it," Jon said he looked at his Arbok who started to waver then fall asleep, "What happened Arbok, get up!
"Well simple when this card is activated it causes all the Pokémon on the field fall asleep, since you destroyed my only Pokémon it doesn't affect me," Billy said, "oh and by the way you lose a turn."
"Don't worry Jon," Duke said, "he probably doesn't have a card strong enough in his deck to take on you're Arbok!"
Billy reached in his deck," I play the legendary MEW!" Billy laid the card on the field.
"Mew?" the Pokémon said looking around after it had materialized on the field.
"How a dweeb like him get a Mew in his deck?!" Duke said surprised.
"And to give me an edge I play the Gust of Wind Card," Billy said playing the card, a big gust of wind engulfed Arbok when it was done the Pokémon was awake.
"Ha you woke up my Pokémon," Jon said.
"That's not all I did," Billy said.
"Wait," Jon looked again, "its attack its back to its original stats."
"That's the power of Gust of Wind," Billy said, "Now Mew attack Psychic!" Mew attack hit Arbok taking the Pokémon out.
Life Points
Jon 1300
Billy 780
"A slight set back!" Duke yelled.
"You're right," Jon said, "he hasn't seen my secret weapon," Jon drew from the deck, "And now he does!"
"Secret weapon?" Billy said looking at Jon.
"I play the Evolution Card, in combination with Squirtle evolving the Pokémon to its final stage! Blastoise I summon you!"
Squirtle started to glow and when the glowing stopped it was a fully evolved Blastoise with an attack of 2300 and defense of 2700.
"Mew is still stronger," Billy said with a smile.
"That where you're wrong I play Torrential Rains a Trainer that raises a water Pokémon's attack and defense by 20%," Jon said, "which puts it at 2760/3240."
"Stronger than Mew!" Billy said.
"But playing that card ends my turn," Jon said, "But on my next attack its light out for you're Mew and you're LP."
"Don't give up Billy," Terri said.
{He must have another plan cause even if he took my Mew out I would still have some LP left. I can't give in though;} Billy thought as he drew a card. "I play the Clefairy doll in place of Mew!" Billy said placing the card on the reader a big giant Clefairy appeared, "with Clefairy on the field it protects my Mew for one turn." {That bought me some time but not a lot.}
{Come on Billy;} Terri thought.
"A desperate move from a amateur like you," Jon said drawing a card, "yes and it going to cost you! I play the Switch Card. This card Switch's the attack points for all Pokémon on the field for as long as Blastoise is in play." Blastoises attack and defense points switch places, 3240/2760.
{Thanks to the power of the Clefairy doll card this doesn't affect Mew;} Billy thought.
"Attack Hydro Pump!" Jon yelled, his Blastoise opened its cannons and released a huge stream of water blowing up the Clefairy doll into a million pieces. "You're lucky next turn its you're Mew going down."
"I doubt that," Billy said turning over his Trainer Card he played on the field earlier. "I pay Kurt's Work, with Mew. This causes 4 of Kurt's custom Pokéballs to protect my Mew." As Billy said this 4 custom Pokéballs appeared and Mew disappeared. "You have to attack each hat to find Mew, but if you attack the wrong hat you will have to deal with what I am laying here," Billy said laying down a Trap Card.
"All right!" Terri said.
"Wow," one person said.
"He doesn't stand a chance its all up to chance," another person said.
"Do the math 4 balls that a 25% chance of choosing the right one," Billy said smiling.
Jon just stared at the hats, "Duke?" he said.
"Attack one," Duke said.
"Wait I don't have to just attack one!" Jon said, "Blastoise attack the two on the left!"
"What?" Billy said surprised.
"Blastoise can attack two things at once or didn't you know that?" Jon said as the Hydro Pump when through the two hats, "Nothing."
"Mew come out of you're Pokéball!" Billy said Mew appeared out of the extreme right one.
"Why?" Jon said.
"YOU FOOL THE TRAP CARD!" Duke said.
"That's right attacking two hats at once was a good strategy if you had actually attacked the right one," Billy said with a smile, "But all you did was activate my trap card Master Ball! It traps you're Blastoise in the ball and reduces it attack and defense power to zero."
"NO!" Jon said.
"Try yes," Billy said, "this duel is mine. Mew Psychic!" Mew unleashed a Psychic attack destroying the Master Ball and Blastoise, Jon LP was reduced to zero.
"I can't believe the dweeb won!" Duke said.
Everyone who had thought Billy was going to win which was select little started cheering.
Duke and his posse left in humiliation.
"Way to go Billy!" Terri said, "I knew you had it in you."
"Yeah," Billy said taking his deck and cards from the reader and stuff, he took one last look at Mew. {Thank you} he thought as he took the card off the reader Mew disappeared from the Holofield.
