Chapter 9 The Most Electrifying Battle
"Finally, we made it," Keith said jumping up and down.
"Yeah," I said looking at the sign that said Vermillion City in big yellow letters.
"We better get to the Pokémon Center," Jewel said walking in the direction of the center.
"Okay," I said.
When we got inside the Pokémon Center there was a lot of Pokémon all hurt.
"What happen here?" Keith said.
"Lt. Surge happen," Nurse Joy said appearing from the back.
"Hey you look just like the other Joys," Keith said.
"You just figured that out?" Jewel asked.
"Excuse I would like to have my Pokémon healed," I said putting my Pokéballs and Chikorita on the counter.
"Okay what about you guys?" Nurse Joy asked.
"Here," Jewel said handing Nurse Joy her two Pokéballs.
"Okay here you go," Keith said handing her his Pokéballs also.
We found a place to eat and ordered something we waited for the food.
"I don't understand how they can all look alike," Keith said still on the subject of Nurse Joy.
"Do you know what type of Pokémon they use in the gym here?" I said asking Jewel and ignoring Keith.
"I think electric types," Jewel said.
"What Pokémon have the advantage against Electric type Pokémon?" I asked my Pokédex.
<They are 4 types > the electronic voice said. <Electric, Grass and Dragon Pokémon can stand electricity. Ground Pokémon have the biggest advantage electric attacks cannot affect Ground Pokémon. >
"Good Rhy is part ground," I said as the waiter appeared with the food.
"Thanks," I said taking the food.
"Yes but you better not depend on Rhy himself Lt. Surge might make the match more than one Pokémon," Jewel said.
"Good point, Chikorita also has the advantage," I said.
"Maybe they all have the same father?" Keith said still thinking about Nurse Joy.
"They are cousins," Jewel said.
"Impossible," Keith said taking a bite of his Sub.
"Listen I have a match to plan for," I said.
"You can't use Dewgong," Jewel said.
"Right, so if they are cousins how do they all look alike?" Keith asked.
"Water Pokémon get fried by Electric Pokémon," Jewel said ignoring Keith question.
"I guess I will use Shadow or Beedrill," I said.
"Right," Jewel said finishing up her Sub.
"Chris are you going to eat your Sub?" Keith asked.
"Yes," I said picking it up and taking a bite.
"I hope you win," Jewel said.
"Yeah, so do I," I said.
"What is wrong with you people? You see 3 different Nurse Joy's who all look alike but you don't care?" Keith yelled.
"Calm down," Jewel said.
"Okay, but did you see all the hurt Pokémon in the center?" Keith said.
"Yeah so?" I said.
"You better be careful that your Pokémon don't end up like that," he said.
"Yeah," I said taking the last bit of my Sub.
We paid for the lunch and headed back to the center. When we got there the place packed with injured Pokémon.
"What?" Keith said.
"Darn that Surge," a girl, said walking by us.
We found our way to the front desk and got our Pokémon and headed towards the gym.
"Did you see all the Pokémon?" Keith said.
"Yes everyone did," Jewel said.
"I mean all those Pokémon were defeated by Surge," Keith said. "I would turn back if I were you Chris."
"Well you are not me I am going to beat this Surge. Okay!" I yelled tired of hearing him talk.
"Okay," he said stopping to think. "I wonder if Nurse Joy is a Pokémon?"
"What?" Jewel said.
"Well all Pokémon of the same species look alike and all the Nurse Joy look alike so maybe she is a Pokémon," Keith said.
"I don't see how someone as crazy as you is a Pokémon trainer," Jewel said.
We arrived at the gym right as someone was running out with a Weepinbell in his arms.
"Are you going to challenge Surge," he yelled.
"Yes," I said.
"Good luck," he said taking off in the direction of the Pokémon Center.
"I'm going in," I said opening the door to see a bunch of Gym Trainers wearing leather bicker gear.
"Hey boss looks like another challenger for the emergency room," one said.
"Oh really," a tall man said coming out of the shadows. "Okay look at the little men," he said. "And women."
"I'm here to challenge you to a match," I said.
"Chika," Chikorita said.
"I feel sorry for you, but a challenge is a challenge," he said.
"You don't need to feel sorry for me," I said.
"Okay then twerp if you insist it will be a three on three Pokémon match over deer," he said pointing to where the stadium was.
"Okay," I said walking over to the stadium Surge followed me until we had to take our position on the field.
"Okay, baby how about 3 Pokémon versus 3 Pokémon," Surge said.
"Fine with me and I'm not a baby," I yelled pulling out Rhy's Pokéball and throwing it.
"Rhydon," the Pokémon yelled coming out of the Pokéball.
"Ahh a Rock type eh," Surge said. "Go Pokémon."
"Electrode," the white and red ball Pokémon said.
I pulled out my Pokédex. <Electrode a Ball Pokémon. Electrode, a.k.a. Bomb Ball, is full of electrical power. Speed is it's best trait. It can attack several times before an enemy can even touch it. It stores electric energy under very high pressure. It often explodes with little or no provocation. >
"Rhy Take Down," I yelled.
"Electrode Teleport," Surge yelled.
Rhy was just about to hit Electrode when it teleported out of the way, Rhy stopped in his tracks and started looking around.
"Tackle," Surge yelled.
Electrode appeared on the top of the stadium falling down right on top of Rhy.
"Rhy throw it off," I yelled.
"Rhy," the Pokémon yelled sending Electrode flying.
"Yes," I yelled.
"Roll Out," Surge yelled.
Electrode started spinning in mid-air and landed on the ground and Rolled top speed towards Rhy.
"Rhy Horn Attack," I yelled.
"Rhy," the Pokémon yelled using its horn, as a catapult and sending Electrode flying but it didn't work, the Pokémon landed again and started Rolling towards Rhy.
"Chris better try something else," I heard Keith whisper to Jewel.
"Rhy try and Earthquake," I yelled.
That attack also did not work it just bounced Electrode around like a ball.
"Electrode Roll it out," Surge yelled.
"Rhy Body Slam," I yelled.
"Chika," Chikorita said cheering Rhy on.
"Rhy," the Pokémon said charging Electrode. The two Pokémon hit head on Electrode bounced off and started to shot Swift stars at Rhy who took the attack easily.
"Give your Swift," I yelled.
"Rhy," the Pokémon said letting out its own stars hitting Electrodes.
"This is a stalemate," Jewel said.
"Electrode Sonic Boom," Surge yelled.
"Rhy Double Edge," I yelled.
Electrode let out this shockwave that hit Rhy as it charged Electrode the attack slowed down Rhy making the Double-Edge not as effective.
"Electrode Double Team," Surge yelled.
"Elec," the Pokémon said multiplying into three.
"Rhy?" my Pokémon yelled out.
"Rhy don't let it fool you use Swift," I yelled.
"Rhy," it yelled sending out the Swift stars that got rid off all the fake Electrodes.
"Elec," the Pokémon said angry.
"Rhy Horn Attack," I yelled.
"Electrode use Roll Out," Surge yelled.
His Pokémon charged mine hitting Rhy sending it flying.
"Rhy are you okay?" I asked my Pokémon.
"Rhy," it said getting up.
"Chris use another Pokémon this is getting you nowhere," Keith yelled.
"Rhy return," I said calling back my Pokémon.
"Ha already giving up huh," Surge said.
"No I'm not," I said throwing Shadow's Pokéball.
"Venonat," the Pokémon said.
"A bug huh," Surge said.
"Shadow Tackle," I yelled.
"Electrode Thunderbolt," Surge yelled.
"Elec," the Pokémon said charging up.
Shadow acted fast hitting Electrode with Tackle, Electrode retaliated by using Thuderbolt on Shadow.
"Shadow Psybeam," I quickly yelled to help my Pokémon in pain.
"Veno," it said as its eyes glowed rainbow colors as the Pokémon released it attack hitting Electrode and causing him to stop.
"Quick use Toxic," I yelled.
"Electrode look out," Surge yelled, but it was too late the Pokémon got hit with the purple poison just like I wanted.
"Good idea," Jewel said.
"Yeah since Electrode is pretty fast it can't last very long poison," Keith said.
"Electrode," the Pokémon said starting to explode.
"Shadow Teleport to safety," I yelled.
"Trode," the Pokémon yelled as it exploded I felt the impact on my chest as the dust from the stadium got in my eyes when it cleared.
"Trode," the Pokémon said with swirls in its eyes.
"Veno," my Pokémon said still looking okay.
"Man it missed," Surge said calling back his Pokémon.
"Yes," Jewel yelled.
"He hasn't won the match yet," Keith said.
"I choose you," Surge said throwing his next Pokéball.
"Electabuzz," the Pokémon said.
"Electabuzz?" I said pulling out my Pokédex.
< Electabuzz an Electric Pokémon. This is a very rare and formidable creature. Like most Pokémon of its type, Electabuzz is drawn to strong sources of electricity, and the Power Plant is the only place you can find one. Watch out! If they wander away, Electabuzz can cause blackouts in major cities. >
"Watch out for its Thunder Punch," Keith yelled.
"I will," I said taking his advice.
"Electabuzz Thundershock," Surge yelled.
"Shadow look out," I yelled.
"Veno," the Pokémon yelled jumping out of the way.
"Electabuzz Quick Attack it," Surge yelled.
"Shadow look out," I yelled.
Right as Shadow landed on its feet Electabuzz ran and hit it with Quick Attack sending it flying.
"Shadow," I yelled as it hit the ground.
"Veno," it said straining to get up.
"Another Quick Attack," Surge yelled.
"Try a Confusion," I yelled.
"Veno," my Pokémon said as its eyes turned golden color but Electabuzz keep running.
"Its moving to fast," Keith yelled.
"No," I yelled as Shadow got attacked again.
"Veno," it said slowing getting up.
"Thunder Punch," Surge yelled.
"Electabuzz," his Pokémon yelled as it connected with the attack Shadow was sent flying crashing on the wall of the gym.
"Return," I said calling it back.
"Chikorita your up to bat," I yelled.
"Chika," it yelled running into the ring.
"Electabuzz Leer," Surge yelled.
"Chika," Chikorita said staring into Electabuzz eyes.
"Don't look into its eyes," I yelled.
"Too late Quick Attack," Surge yelled.
"Chikorita," I yelled.
As Electabuzz hit Chikorita, my Pokémon landed on its feet.
"Chikorita Vine Whip," I yelled.
"Electabuzz Thuderbolt," Surge yelled.
Chikorita hit Electabuzz with its Vines at it let out its Thunderbolt shocking Chikorita.
"Chikorita quick Sweet Scent," I yelled.
"Chika," it yelled in pain as it released the pink sweet smelling aroma that got Electabuzz attention and made it stop the attack.
"Electabuzz this is no time to stop and smell the Chikorita," Surge yelled.
"Chikorita while it's dazed us Body Slam," I yelled.
"Chika," my Pokémon yelled hitting Electabuzz.
"Buzz," the Pokémon said hittng Chikorita with Mega Punch in return.
"Great, it still has some fight left," Jewel said.
"Electabuzz Thunder Punch," Surge yelled.
"Chikorita Razor Leaf," I yelled.
Chikorita released a fury of leafs that Electabuzz fried with Thuder Punch.
"No more joking around Thunder," Surge yelled.
"Chikorita look out," I yelled.
Electabuzz released the Thunder Attack that blanketed the whole gym when the smoked cleared Chikorita was down.
"Chikorita," I yelled running up and picking her up.
"Chika," it said weakly.
"Go inside your Pokéball," I said pulling out her Pokéball and calling her back.
"Okay you have one Pokémon that Rhyhorn and I have two," Surge said. "You better forfeit."
"Never," I said looking at Electabuzz it had used up all its energy it wouldn't last. "Rhy go," I said throwing the Pokémon's Pokéball.
"Rhyhorn," it yelled ready for another battle.
"Electabuzz Fire Punch," Surge yelled.
"Rhy Horn Attack," I yelled.
Surge's Pokémon attacked first but being tired from battling Chikorita its attack didn't seem to hurt Rhy. Rhy hit it in the stomach as hard as he could knocking down the Pokémon.
"Electabuzz return," Surge said calling back his Pokémon.
"Chris is going to need a lot of luck to win," Keith said.
"Go Raichu," Surge said throwing out his last Pokémon.
"Rai," the Pokémon said.
I pointed my Pokédex at the Pokémon. <Raichu a Mouse Pokémon. Raichu has so much electrical power in its little body that it has to use its long tail as a ground to avoid shocking itself! Its 10,000-volt Thunder Wave technique paralyzes an enemy so it can't move. Its larger size makes it unable to use it's previous speed attacks. When trained properly, Raichu is one of the most powerful Pokémon. Because Raichu doesn't learn any moves, be sure to only use the Thunder Stone on him once he's learned all his moves. >
"Rhy Horn Attack," I yelled.
"Raichu Body Slam," Surge yelled.
Raichu tried to slam Rhy, but found it impossible since Rhy has a hard body Rhy used it horn to send Raichu flying; it landed on its feet.
"Rhy Take Down," I yelled.
"Raichu Flash," Surge yelled.
Raichu sent out Flash attack blinding Rhy who keep charging and Crashed into a wall.
"Rhy get up," I said.
"Rhy," the Pokémon said slowly getting up.
"Raichu quick Seismic Toss," Surge yelled.
"Rhy," Rhy said still blinded.
"Move out of the way," I yelled.
But it was too late Raichu grabbed Rhy by the legs and started to lift Rhy up.
"Raichu," the Pokémon said straining to lift up the 200 plus pound Pokémon.
"Rhy?" Rhy said still blinded.
"That is one strong Riachu," Keith said.
"Throw it," Surge yelled.
"Rai," the Pokémon said lifting Rhy above its head but couldn't hold it up the Pokémon fell right on top of Raichu.
"Raichu," Surge yelled.
"Rhy get off Raichu," I yelled.
"Rhy," the Pokémon said rolling off Raichu who was knocked out.
"No, I can't believe it," Surge said.
"I won," I yelled.
"All right," Jewel yelled.
"Way to go Chris," Keith yelled.
"Return," Surge said calling back his Pokémon, then walking up to me. "Here you earned this," he said pulling a Thunderbadge out of his inside pocket.
"Wow, thanks," I said taking the badge and looking at it.
"You really put up a good battle," Surge said.
"Way to go," Jewel said running up to me and kissing me on the check.
I started to blush. "Tha-tha-thanks," I said surprised.
"You deserved it," she said winking at me.
"Hey none for me," Keith said pouting.
