Chapter 17
Chapter 17 A Beautiful Ending
It had been a week since the incident with Misdreavus, and cause I had used a lot of energy to get that freak of a Pokémon out of my body I slept and had very weird dreams, then all of a sudden I woke up. Not like your everyday get up you want to sleep some more, I woke up with all this energy.
"What?" I looked around confused about my surroundings, then I saw a letter on the side of my bed, it had my name on it. I opened it and started to read it.
Dear Chris,
By the time you open the letter I will be long gone. I'm sorry for causing you all the problems with Misdravus. I hope you make a full recovery. I would also like to thank you for not leaving me with that…thing inside of me. In the envelope you will find the Marsh Badge. I decided you deserved it. You never know our paths may cross again…
Thanks for saving me.
Alexis
P.S. Yes I do think you're cute.
I smiled, then looked inside the envelope, there was the Marsh Badge, I got out of the bed and found my cloths in one of the closets. I quickly put it on and walked out the room, Keith was standing by a nurse talking to her, and she then slapped him.
"Oww," he said, "was it something I said?" he said as she walked away.
I saw Jewel talking to Rita, "Hey guys!" I said walking up to them, they shot up and jumped on me knocking me over.
"Oww," I said, "that no way to treat a patient."
"Sorry," Rita said getting off me.
"I just happy your awake," Jewel said she got off.
"So am I," I said standing up, "did you guys see Alexis leave?" I asked. The expression on Jewel face changed.
"I didn't get a chance to tell her thanks for the Marsh Badge," I said throwing it over to Rita she caught it, "Getting better at being a human huh Rita?"
"Yeah," she said as she looked at the badge.
Keith walked up and slapped me on the back, "What's up?" he asked.
"Hi Keith," I said.
"It looks like you're awake," he said, "lets head out of here, all the nurses don't like guys."
"Yeah I guess," I said, "wait who has my Pokémon?" I asked.
"I do," Rita said taking them out of her pocket and handing to him.
"Thanks," I said, "I know you took good care of them." I said placing them back on my belt, and then my stomach grumbled.
"You sound hungry," Jewel said.
"Yeah," I said, "lets get something to eat."
We walked out of the hospital and headed to the Café, which was about 5 minutes away from the hospital.
"Okay I will have, this, and this and this and a little of that with some of this," Keith said as the waitress turned her pad to the next page and wrote some more.
Jewel and Rita just hung there head in disbelieve, "Keith?" Rita said in a stern voice.
"That's all," Keith said as the waitress walked away.
"What about us?" Jewel asked.
"You think I'm going to eat all that by myself? I ordered for all of you," Keith said.
"Why?" I asked.
"You wanna pay for this stuff?" Keith said, "Then go ahead and order."
"Never mind then," I said, "Since you want to be so generous I guess I won't complain."
We at all that food, and let me tell you something; it tasted a lot better than anything they were feeding me in the hospital. We left the Café and Jewel and Rita was ahead having a conversation, it seemed like they have become good friends in a short week. Something that was concerning me was how come Chikorita had changed to a human once again, and for a longer time than the other two times.
"Thinking about Rita huh?" Keith asked.
"Yeah," I said snapping out of my trance.
"I tried to hook up with her but she turned me down the hard way," he rubbed his head.
"What?" I said surprised.
"Hey she is cute," he said, "and she smells good."
"That's her Sweet Scent!" I said.
"Oh," Keith said, he looked up ahead, "who's that?" he said a guy about 8 years old came running up to Rita and Jewel.
"Do you two have a Dewgong?" he asked.
"No," Jewel said.
"I do," I said stepping forward.
"I challenge you to a Pokémon match for you Dewgong!" he yelled pointing a finger at me.
"WHAT?" Rita said surprise.
"That's right," the kid said.
"I'm sorry," I said, "there is no way I'm putting my Pokémon as a prize for a match."
"Okay I see," he said, "you're scared of losing to a little kid."
That hit home, "I'm not scared of a little kid!" I retaliated.
"Then lets have the match!" he said.
I hesitated, I looked over at Rita, and she gave me a slight smile.
"Okay then!" I said Rita took off leaving us.
"Heh, now go Wobbuffet!" he yelled throwing the Pokéball.
"Wobba," the blue bowling ball pin looking Pokémon said.
"Wobbuffet?" I took out my Pokédex and pointed it at the weird looking Pokémon.
<Wobbuffet It hates light and shock. If attacked, it inflates its body to pump up its counterstrike. To keep it's pitch-black tail hidden, it lives quietly in the darkness. It is never the first to attack. >
"Weird looking Pokémon," Jewel said.
"Go Rhy!" I yelled throwing his Pokéball.
"RhyHORN!" the Pokémon yelled, it looked at its opponent and started charging the Pokémon.
"Counter," the kid said.
Rhy was about to hit the Pokémon when Wobbuffet started to glow, Rhy came inches from hitting him when he was sent flying back it dug its feet into the ground and slide to a stop inches in front of me. I waited for the smoke to settle down.
"What just happened?" Jewel asked.
"I think that was some sort of psychic attack," Keith said.
"I don't care if it is, Rhy Horn Drill!" I yelled.
The Pokémon horn on its head started to rotate until it was moving like a drill, the Pokémon then went to jab the horn into the Pokémon.
"Mirror Coat!" the kid said.
Rhy's horn came inches from hitting the Pokémon when it stopped and the Pokémon was sent flying through the air again. It landed inches from me and started to slowly get up. I was losing to some little kid! I saw a hint of green from the back of a building.
"Return!" I yelled calling back the Pokémon.
"Go Rita!" I yelled as Rita jumped out from behind Wobbuffet and turned around.
"How?"
"Razor Leaf!"
Chikorita shot out a ton of leafs that hit Wobbuffet sending it flying back.
"Quick Wobbuffet get up!" the kid yelled.
The Pokémon slowly got up.
"Great Rita use Vine Whip!" I yelled.
"Counter!"
Rita vines flew towards Wobbuffet right as the Pokémon started to glow, the vines bounced off and flew back towards Rita hitting the Pokémon in the head.
"Rita!" Jewel yelled.
"Chika!" the Pokémon said slowly getting up
"Rita, use Razor Leaf again!" It didn't block the attack last time.
"Mirror Coat!"
Rita spun its leaf around and released the leafs, Wobbufet glowed as the leafs were about to hit it, they turned around and flew back towards Rita faster than she had sent them.
"Quick dodge'em!" I yelled.
She sidestepped the first two and jumped over the next two she then blocked the rest with her leaf.
"Good job Tackle it!" I yelled.
Rita ran after the Pokémon at full speed.
"Stupid," the kid said, "Counter!"
Rita then pulled out its vines and used it to push itself into the air; while it was above Wobbuffet it used its vine to grab the Pokémon's tail.
"Whip it!" I yelled.
Rita used its forward force and pulled Wobbuffet over its own head and slammed it on the ground. The Pokémon didn't get up.
"All right!" I yelled.
"What?!" the kid yelled, he recalled his Wobbuffet, he then whispered something to himself and took off running with tears in his eye.
"Wait," I said, he had given me a very good Pokémon match for his age.
He kept running, he tripped and fell his Pokéball fell off his belt. I guess he didn't notice cause he just got up and keep running.
"Wait!" Keith said chasing after him, he stopped and picked up the Pokéball, "your Pokémon."
"We better get it to a Pokémon Center," I said bending down and picking up Rita, I placed her on my head and turned on my translator, "Good strategy."
{Thanks; I came to me when you told me to tackle it} Rita said.
"But that wasn't what I had in mind," I said as Keith handed me the Pokéball, we headed to the Pokémon Center.
"Yeah," Nurse Joy said taking my Pokéball as well as the kids and handing it to Chansey, "his name is Henry," she then turned to Chansey and gave her some instructions.
"Well, he challenged Chris to a match for his Dewgong," Jewel said.
"He lost," Keith added.
"Well I know why," Nurse Joy said, "last year, on this day, his younger sister got in a serious car accident, she had a Dewgong, that she had found abandoned, with her. She survived the car accident but her Dewgong wasn't as fortunate."
"And now her brother is challenging anyone with a Dewgong to a Pokémon match," I said finally putting together why Henry had challenge me to a match.
"That's really sad," Jewel said, she turned and looked at me, "when Wobbuffet is healed were going to go to his house."
"Yeah I guess," I said putting my hand on Dewgong's Pokéball.
Nurse Joy gave us directions on how to get to Henry's house; we reached there in less than 5 minutes and ran the doorbell.
"Hello," a women said answering the door, I looked pass her to see Henry running further into the house.
"Hi,' I said, "I'm Chris Shockley and these are my friends Jewel and Keith.
"Hi," Jewel said.
"How are you today ma'am," Keith said, Jewel looked at him weird.
"I'm looking for Henry we had a Pokémon battle and he left his Pokémon behind," I said holding up Wobbuffets Pokéball.
"Oh," she said taking the Pokéball, "I have to go to work now I will make sure he gets this," she said in a stern voice.
"Actually I would like to talk to him," I said.
"Oh," she put the Pokéball on a table by the door, "follow me."
She led us through the house until we reached a room with a picture of a Wobbuffet using Counter sending a Pikachu flying backwards.
"Henry," his mom said knocking on the door. She waited a couple of seconds before Henry opened the door a crack.
"Yes mom?" he asked peeping through a small slant in the door.
"A trainer name Chris is here to see you," she said, "he found you're Wobbuffet."
"Wobbuffet!" the kid said opening the door and grabbing the Pokéball, "Thanks," he said he then looked at Chris and realized who he was, "Ahh!" he yelled as he ran back into his room.
Henry's mom looked at them weird then said, "I'm sorry you will have to leave," she said.
"Okay," Chris said.
"Yes," Jewel said.
They followed Henry's mom outside, she then locked the door got into her car and left.
"What you going do?" Keith said as he started to walk away from the house. Jewel, Chris and Rita stood there staring at the house.
"Chris ring the doorbell," Jewel said.
"What?" Keith said surprised.
Chris ran the doorbell and stood there.
"I don't think the kid is going to answer," Keith said.
"Rita," Rita said shaking her head.
"HEY HENRY!" Chris yelled, "I GOT DEWGONG FOR YOU!"
"What?" Jewel said surprised, Chris held up his hand.
The door opened, "You going to give me you're Pokémon?" he asked.
"No," Chris said, "I just, thought that it would be a good idea for your sister to see Dewgong."
Henry stood there for a second thinking, "Okay," he finally said, "follow me."
"I can't-" Keith said he stopped himself and followed the others inside; they passed Henry's room and walked down the hall until they reached the end of the hallway and a room.
"Hello Jen," Henry said opening the door.
"Hi," his sister said, she was smaller than him and was sitting in a wheel chair. I figured that she probably got paralyzed from the accident.
"Oh," Jewel said as she saw the little girl, she walked up and bent down, "Hi I'm Jewel."
"Chika," Rita said running up to the girl, she hopped on her lap.
"And that is Rita," Jewel said smiling.
"Hehe," Jen said laughing and petting Rita, "Its cute," she said.
"Jen," Keith said walking up to her, "I'm Keith a bug Pokémon trainer."
"And I'm Chris," I said.
"They are Pokémon trainers," Henry said.
"Did you beat him in a match Henry?" Jen asked.
"Well…"
"Yeah he wiped the floor with me," I lied.
"Good cause my big brother is the best Pokémon trainer ever!" she said.
"I know," I said, I reached for Dewgong's Pokéball, "he told me you like Dewgongs, do you want to see one?" I asked.
Her eyes lit up when she heard what I said, "sure!" she said.
"Okay!" I said opening up Dewgong's Pokéball.
"Dew!" the Pokémon said appearing.
"Awww," Jen said as tears started to form in her eyes.
"Dewgong, meet Jen," I said.
The Pokémon slid over to Jen and held up its tail.
"Its so cute," she said, "just like Dewy," she petted Dewgong on the head.
"Thanks a bunc-" Henry was interupped as the two windows in the room exploded and a huge net flew over everyone, except Rita, Dewgong and Jen.
"Ahh," Jewel yelled.
"What the-" Keith said.
"Team Rocket," I said, they always find a way to get in the way with every nice thing.
"Prepare for trouble cause we caught you in our net."
"Make it double were going to steal all your Pokémon pets."
"Team Rocket winning every battle at the speed of light."
"Better watch out cause Melissa and Matthew are back in the fight."
"That's Right!" They finished off their stupid motto and then let out a laugh.
"Rita quick Razor Leaf the ropes!" I yelled to my Pokémon.
She shot out a flurry of leafs that didn't even touch the ropes as they got burned.
"Good job Growly," Melissa said smiling.
"Low Kick!" Matthew yelled.
Rita jumped out of the way as the Mankey appeared out of its Pokéball and launched its attack, but while she was in mid-air a Ember ball hit her sending her flying to the ground, she slowly started to get up but received a Mega Punch to the back of the head by Mankey.
"Great job," Team Rocket said at the same time.
"Rita!" I was struggling to get out of the net.
"Hey don't try to struggle!" Matthew said, "We haven't been around in a while we want to get reacquainted," he said as Melissa took out a bottle of something and sprinkled it on us. My arm started to become sluggish and I couldn't move.
"Cant…move…a…thing," I heard Keith said.
"Must…be…"
"Stun…Spore…" Henry said finishing off Jewel sentence.
"Hehe," Melissa said with a laugh.
"We should do this more often," Matthew said smiling.
"Dew…gong…" I whispered.
"LEAVE THEM ALONE!" Jen yelled as she wheeled her chair in front of us.
"What are you going to do?" Melissa said looking at the girl.
"Roll over us?" Matthew said laughing at his mean joke.
"DEWIE WATER GUN!" she yelled.
Dewie? I thought as a huge stream of water hit Team Rocket and pinned them to a wall.
"Good job now use water gun on them," Jen said.
"Dew," the Pokémon said wetting us, the cold water hit my face as I started to feel my body again, I moved around, "Thanks Dewgong," I said.
"Growly get them!" Melissa yelled.
"Ice Beam," Jen yelled, as my Dewgong listen and shot out the beam hitting the Growlithe and freezing it whole.
"Ahhh Growly return," she recalled her Pokémon.
"Dewgong?" I said surprised.
The Pokémon looked angrily at Mankey, it then let out a huge roar.
"What is it doing?" I asked.
"Looks like Rage," Jewel said.
"Dewgong's don't usually learn Rage," Keith said taking out a pocketknife and cutting the net.
Dewgong jumped on top of Mankey and started biting and slapping it until it fell over.
"Mankey return," he said calling back his Pokémon.
"There," Keith said as he finished cutting the rope, I ran over to Rita and picked her up.
"Dewie finish them off with Aurora Beam!" Jen yelled.
"DEWGONG!" the Pokémon said releasing the beam; it hit Team Rocket as they jumped out the window.
"Will be back!" I heard them yelled.
We were standing outside the Pokémon Center, Rita was healed and sitting on my head.
"Dewgong," I said bending down and petting it on the head, "you take good care of Jen for me."
"What you're leaving her?" Jewel said.
"Yeah, I have a feeling that Jen was meant to have this Pokémon," I said, "and the way Dewgong responded when Jen was in trouble…" my voice trailed off.
"Dew?" the Pokémon said.
"I hope I see you again," I said.
"Don't worry you can come and visit anytime," Jen said.
"Oh don't worry I will," I said as we turned around and walked away.
"Dewgong!" the Pokémon said shooting off a brilliant Ice Beam into the air.
"Don't worry Chris you did the right thing," Jewel said.
"I know," I said putting my arm around her shoulder.
