Chapter 16 Menacing Misdreavus
Author's Note: Erhm, for the purpose of explaining this next chapter in its full entirety I must stray away from the normal first person point of view to the more traditional third person point of view. Though this may confuse you, don't worry it is in you're best interest to read it in this fashion. But for all of you who are panicking don't worry I will return to the pervious style in the chapters following this one…so before I completely bore you with my wanna be lawyer talk on with the chapter…
The blinding flash that was illuminating from Alexis died down Chris was standing in a void. But it was different than where Chris and Alexis was battling. This one just seemed to never end, and there was no ground though Chris was standing in what he thought was facing up.
"Where am I?" he said looking around, he started to walk and to his surprise he didn't move, it was almost like he was on a treadmill.
"Chris!" Jewel yelled she was shaking him.
"Let me check," Keith said putting the side of his head on Chris's chest, "yeah he still has a heart beat."
Chikorita just didn't move. She didn't understand what had happen; one second they were declaring the rules for the match then both Chris and Alexis was on the floor. Chikorita started to glow but it wasn't a bright glow.
Keith and Jewel didn't notice, Keith stood up and looked at Alexis she was laying on the floor like Chris, he ran up to her and checked her pulse, "She alive!" he said picking her up.
"I don't understand!" Jewel said tears were starting to swell up in her eyes.
Keith put his hands under Alexis picking her up with a grunt, Jewel tried to do the same but Chris was too heavy. Chikorita walked up and put her hands under Chris and picked him up.
"What?" Jewel said surprised.
"I know," she said lifting up Chris effortlessly, Keith walked up to where Chikorita and Jewel was.
"Oh nice to see you decided to go human," he simply said.
Chris was still floating in a sort of limbo, "I must have died," he said out loud, "That is the only explanation for it. Man I wish there was actually things around here," and as he said that in a flash he was back in his room at his house, "Nope I'm not dead," he said looking around, "I've gone crazy." He started look around his out, he opened the door to his room and started walking down the hall. He could here whispers coming from the kitchen, he creped up close to the door and slowly opened it, in the kitchen where his parents talking.
"I don't think we should send him off to train," he heard his mom say.
They were talking about him leaving to go and start Pokémon training.
"What if he got hurt or worse," his mom said.
"He's a big kid," his father said, "Most trainers start at the age of 10 anyway."
"Well," she said, "I am worried that-"
At that moment the door that Chris was leaning on completely opened causing him to fall to the ground flat on his face…
"Is he in a coma?" Jewel said looking at the doctor. Chikorita and Keith had carried both Chris and Alexis to the hospital.
"No," the doctor said, "they both exhibit the signs of a coma but there is REM," the doctor pointed to a machine on each on of Chris's and Alexis's eyelids were little sensors that ran to the machine.
"REM?" Chikorita said confused she had never heard of that.
"Well REM stands for Rapid Eye Movement," the doctor said, "when you sleep at night and have a dream it is because of REM, but people in a coma do not have REM, that is what that is bothering me."
At that time Officer Jenny walked into the room, "Could I have a word with you three," she said pointing to Keith, Jewel, and Chikorita.
"Chika?" a voice said tapping Chris on his shoulder. He lifted his head to see Chikorita was tapping him with her vine.
"You okay?" Nurse Joy said running up to him.
"Yeah," he said confused, "how did I get here?" He asked.
"You walked of course," Nurse Joy, said, "You tripped over a Cleffa when you walked through the door."
Chris was still confused one second he was floating in a void next he was at home and now he was in a Pokémon Center.
"Where is Keith," he said getting up and brushing himself off.
"Who?" Nurse Joy said.
"Keith my friend," Chris said.
But before Nurse Joy could answer him a man came running towards him, "Did you get it!" he yelled as he came to a stop.
"Get what?" Chris said confused.
"The antidote for my Golduck," the man said, "Don't you remember you and two other kids when to Professor Coy?"
It all came back to Chris, this was when he had to deliver the antidote to Sam for his sick Golduck, but why was he here.
"Chika!" the Pokémon said reaching into Chris's pocket and pulling out the antidote.
"Thank you!" he screamed snatching the antidote and running towards the back, Nurse Joy also followed.
"I don't-" Chris said, then he stopped, "wait how come-" he stopped again, trying to remember what had happen that day. "I came gave the potion then…oh no!" right as Chris said that there was a giant explosion sending him flying backwards he landed on the ground and passed out…
"So let me get this straight," Officer Jenny said looking down at the pad she had used to take notes, "you don't know what happened?"
"Yes," Chikorita said.
"Who are you anyway?" Officer Jenny said, "according to he parents gave us he was traveling with a girl name Jewel and a guy name Keith. They never mention anything about you."
"Uhh…" Chikorita said.
"She's new she joined up with us before the match," Keith said.
"Uhhh…"Chikorita said.
"Yeah, um…she is Rita," Jewel said.
"Is that right?" Officer Jenny said looking at Chikorita.
"Yeah," Chikorita said smiling.
"Well I think you three are hiding something," Officer Jenny said, "How is it that three of his Pokémon were fainted when he just had them checked before he headed to the gym."
"Three?" Chikorita said.
"Yeah three," she said looking at her notes, "I questioned Nurse Joy a while ago."
"Well we don't know nothing," Keith said.
"Anything," Chikorita said, "Having a Pokémon correct you on you're English," she shook her head in disappoval.
"Pokémon?" Officer Jenny said confused.
"Uhhh…" Chikorita said looking at Jewel.
"Epp," was all she managed to say.
Chris awoke to see himself floating in the limbo state again, "You know I am getting real tired of this," he said spinning around, "Could someone please tell me what is going on!" he screamed, he hung his head in shame.
"Don't let that cute face go to waste," he heard a voice behind him say; he turned around to see Alexis standing behind him.
"Ahh," he screamed as he tried to run away to no avail, "stay….away you had something to do with this."
"Well yes and no," she said calmly.
"What do you mean?" he said calming down.
"Well as you can see we are floating around in you're subconscious," she said looking around.
"Well then how are you here?" he asked.
"Remember I am part psychic," she said, "Well I can only do telekinesis and I am not that good at it."
"Telekinesis!" Chris said, "You teleported me to some other realm and battled me!"
"That wasn't me," she said, "Well it was me in body but I was possessed."
"How can I believe you?" he said, "how do I know this isn't another way of mating with me."
"I wasn't trying to mate with you!" she quickly said, "the Pokémon that possessed me feeds off people's energy."
"I'm sorry," Chris said.
"Well don't be cause I think I got a way for use to get rid of this Pokémon," Alexis said.
Officer Jenny told Jewel and the others that they couldn't leave the city, like they were going to anyway. Jewel had fallen asleep in a car next to Chris, Chikorita and Keith was outside the hospital sitting under a tree.
Jewel had lent Chikorita some of her cloths to wear; she was wearing a pink cap backwards with the words Pokégirl on it. She was also wearing a pink shirt with the number 27 on it and a pink sweat pants, "Why does Jewel like pink so much?!" Chikorita said kind of disgusted.
"Well I think it kind of looks good on you," Keith said winking at Chikorita.
"Are you coming on to me?!" she said surprised.
"Well you are attractive," he said putting his lips close to hers.
"Well then," she quietly, "What are you going to do?"
"What ever you want," Keith said quietly.
"Good," Chikorita said pulling her head back and head butting Keith, he flew back and landed on the ground 10 feet away.
"Don't ever try that!" Chikorita said standing up, "you are messed up Keith!" And with that she left walking back into the center leaving Keith to think about what he did.
"Was it something I said?" Keith said slowly standing up and rubbing his head, it was red from the point of contact with Chikorita's head.
"What Pokémon is it?" Chris said still spinning around in limbo.
"I'm not sure but I think it's a ghost type," Alexis said.
"How do you know?" Chris said.
"Well a day before you came Sabrina was challenged by a trainer I don't remember his name," Alexis said.
"Kyle most likely," Chris said through clinched teeth.
"Anyway she was battling him in a match for her badge," Alexis said, "I didn't see the full match but I did see how Kyle defeated her."
Begin Flashback…
"What kind of psychic Pokémon trainer has a Haunter as a companion?" Kyle said mocking Sabrina.
"You are losing," she said, "I have already eliminated 2 of your 3 Pokémon, yet you still mock me. I guess I will have to show you the awesome power of ESP."
"Oh I am so scared," Kyle said sarcastically.
"Just choose you're last Pokémon so that I can end this," Sabrina said.
"This last Pokémon is going to be a Pokémon I just captured," Kyle said, "I haven't even trained it yet, but I don't have to worry you are a weak gym leader anyway."
Sabrina just shook her head in disbelieve. How could he be a trainer? He didn't have any respect for a gym leader and how it was difficult to keep you're licenses as a gym leader, "I will just have to show you respect for gym leaders everywhere!"
"Please," Kyle said throwing his Pokéball on to the field, a ghost Pokémon appeared. This one had no arms or legs just a head with a neck and around the neck there seemed to be a necklace.
"Attack!" Sabrina yelled, her Kadabra attacked with a Psybeam attack that went straight through the Pokémon.
"It's a pure ghost type!" Kyle said and with that the Pokémon use Night Shade knocking out Kadabra. "I guess I win," Kyle said taking out a Pokéball to recall his Pokémon but the ghost Pokémon disappeared, "hey get back here!" Kyle yelled but the Pokémon didn't seem to listen…
Flashback End…
"That is all I know," Alexis said.
"So you think this ghost Pokémon has possessed you and me?" Chris said.
"Yeah…" she said.
"But how and why?" Chris asked.
"I don't know," she said sadly.
"Well then how are we going to get this Pokémon out of us?" Chris said.
"Not we just you," she said.
"Me alone?" Chris said surprised.
"I cant fight the Pokémon out its too strong it has weaken me too much," she said, "it is already a big strain for me to talk to you via ESP."
"Well I'm not getting rid of this Pokémon in my head just to have it kill you!" Chris said.
"It's the only way," Alexis said.
"No there is always another way," Chris said, "We can fight it together I have enough energy to help both of us."
A machine on the side of Jewel started beeping loudly the sound woke her up in a jolt, "What?" she said looking at the machine, she looks at the machine that started beeping even louder, "NURSE!" she screamed.
The Nurse ran into the room and looked at the machine, "this doesn't make any sense," she said reading the machine; she then pressed a button calling for the doctor.
At the same time Chikorita was walking towards the room was when she saw the doctor running as fast as he could towards Chris's room, "Doc what's going on!?" the doctor ignore her and keep running. Chikorita took off following the doctor they reached the room at the same time.
"What is wrong Nurse?" the doctor said.
"According to these reading from the REM Reader they REM patterns has synchronized."
"But that is impossible," the doctor said looking at the read out. He let out a gasp, "there seems to be something else in the read out, like another thing or person."
"Person," Chikorita said surprised.
"No the signature to it is not a human," the doctor said looking at the read out still.
The nurse looked at the reading, "I think it's a Pokémon!"
"A Pokémon?" Jewel said confused.
"I've never seen a Pokémon in someone's head before?" the doctor said.
"Show yourself you body stealing Pokémon!" Chris yelled.
All of a sudden the ghost Pokémon materialized in front of him, "Insolent human! I will have control of you as I did to Alexis!"
"No you wont!" Chris said holding up on of his hands towards the ghost Pokémon he shot out a green energy beam that went straight through the Pokémon.
"Ha you fool!" the ghost said, "I Mistress the great Misdreavus is a pure ghost type. Meaning your attacks has no effect on me!"
"He's attack may not but he can force you out of his body!" Alexis said.
"Shut up!" Misdreavus said shooting her with a Night Shade attack she screamed in pain, at the same time her body in the hospital jumped up in pain.
"Alexis!" Chris said.
"I release you the process of body swapping is done!" Mistress said with a laugh, Alexis started to fade.
"No Alexis!" Chris yelled trying to fly over to her.
"Its up to you…" she said right before she faded.
The doctor and the others had gone to Alexis's body when it had shot up. Keith leaned over and looked at her, she shot up again this time with her eyes open her head collided with Keith sending him flying like when Rita had head butted him.
"Ahh!" he said as he landed on the ground.
"Alexis what did you do to Chris!" Jewel said grabbing her and shaking her.
"Ahh!" she said her body going limp.
"Jewel stop!" Rita said pulling her away from Alexis.
"Tired," Alexis softly said as she lay back down, "Pokémon-"
"Pokémon," Keith said rubbing his head, "I have a major headache now."
Listen everyone a voice said in everyone's head, its me Alexis I am to tired to help get the Pokémon out of Chris head but we all need to help.
"What Pokémon?" Rita said.
A ghost Pokémon Misdreavus you all need to concentrate you're thoughts into me and I will try to help Chris fight this Pokémon in his head.
"How do we know this isn't another one of you're tricks!" Jewel said smugly.
You want Chris to be okay don't you?
"Yeah," Jewel said.
Then concentrate…please…I cant keep this up forever.
But before anyone could even think Chris shot out of his bed floating in mid-air and yelled out, "ALEXIS!" with that yell a Pokémon seem to float out of Chris and fly out of control into a control panel.
You are a strong one Chris the Pokémon said telepathically.
"What the?" the doctor said surprised, the nurse fainted.
But one day you will be mine! And with that the Pokémon vanished.
Chris started to fall towards the ground Rita jumped up and grabbed him with ease.
"Good to see you," he said looking at Rita he then passed out.
"Doctor!" Rita said placing him back on the bed.
The doctor ran up and took some readings, "he is asleep, and whatever just happened took a lot out of him."
Jewel just stood there and started to cry, Keith came up and comforted her, but she pushed him away and ran out of the Pokémon Center.
"Jewel!" Rita said chasing after her, she caught up with her at the elevator, "where are you going!"
"I can't take it," she said still crying.
"But Chris needs you especially now," Rita said.
"No he doesn't he has Alexis," she said angrily.
"What?" Rita said confused.
"You heard him he yelled her name when he was fighting off that Pokémon!" Jewel said.
"So that doesn't mean anything," Rita said, "Look when you first joined the group I was jealous of you."
"What-"
"Let me finish, I thought that you were going to kick me out of the picture and go off with Chris, I was really over protective but when I got to know you I kind of…" she started to sob.
"Don't worry," Jewel said, "I understand, jealously helps no one." she hugged Rita, "You know what?"
"What?" Rita said.
"I said that you would make a good Pokémon trainer when you first turned to a human, but I was wrong you are a better human than any human I know." And with that both Rita and Jewel headed back to the hospital room…
Authors Note: That is the first chapter I ever wrote which didn't really have a Pokémon match. What do you all think? I kind of like writing that chapter in third person point of view…I may keep the fic going in this style who knows I will have to think about it…
