Chapter 15 Psychic Attraction
"Well here we are," I said closing my map. We had been walking all night and we finally reached Saffron City.
Keith let out a long yawn, " why couldn't we have stopped along the way?"
"Because Chris over here insisted on catching up with Kyle," Jewel said.
{Well I don't see why I could beat him in a match any day} Chikorita said lying down and closing her eyes.
I picked her up. "Sorry guys," I apologized, "let's head to the center."
"Where would that be?" Keith said looking down each street.
"Umm…" the road split into four different sections.
"Its time like this I wish we had a bird Pokémon," Jewel said.
"Keith find the center," I said throwing him the map.
"Why me?" he asked.
"You're the map man," I said taking out my Pokédex.
Keith opened the map and looked around, and then he turned the map upside down.
I typed the name of the city into the dex.
<Saffron City home to Sabrina the Psychic Gym Leader> I closed the dex.
Useless," I said.
"Forget this!" Keith said throwing the map on the floor.
"Keith you're Butterfree it can fly!" Jewel said.
"Right of course," he said taking out the butterfly's Pokéball and throwing it. The Pokémon appeared in a brilliant light. "Fly up high and see if you can spot the Pokémon Center," Keith said.
{All right} the Pokémon said flying up.
"Now am I a genius or what," Keith said smiling.
"I pick what," Jewel said.
Before Keith could come back with an insult of his own, Butterfree flew back down.
{I think if we go this way} he said pointing one of his antennas.
"Okay thanks," Keith said, "Well let's go," he said following his Butterfree.
We followed for about 10 minutes until. Then all of a sudden I saw quick flash
"Wait a minute?!" I said stopping.
"What?" Jewel said.
"Something isn't right about this?" I looked around, "We are right back where we started," and I was right we were right back in the same road.
"What?" Jewel looked around.
"No were almost to the center," Keith said looking around.
"I'm tell you," I stopped something was really wrong. "Chikorita get up," I shook her, she didn't move. "Chikorita!" I said shaking her harder, still she didn't move.
"Stop shaking you're Pokémon!" Jewel said grabbing Chikorita. "Keith attack with Fusion!"
"Right!" Keith jumped up into the air and all of a sudden a bright light engulfed both him and his Butterfree. When the light cleared he looked like a hybrid of a human and a Butterfree.
His head had two antenna's sticking out of his head, his eyes where Butterfree's as well as his mouth, his body was the body of a Butterfree and he had his normal feet.
"Attack!" Jewel said her eyes were glowing red.
"Ahhh!" I said closing my eyes, when I opened them we were standing in front of the Pokémon Center.
"Chris?" Jewel said looking at me.
"What? How did we get here?" I asked confused.
"We walked stupid," Keith said looking at me.
"But-" I stopped myself…maybe it was just the stress of being a trainer, I don't need to let it get in my way. "Nevermind, lets get Chikorita and the other checked up before my big match."
"Right," Jewel said with a smile.
We walked into the Pokémon Center to see Nurse Joy handing back Kyle his Pokéballs.
"Kyle!" I said looking at him.
"Oh its you," he said with a smirk, "You finally caught up huh?"
"Why did you leave?" I asked, "Nurse Joy wanted to give you a reward for saving her."
"Saving me?" the Nurse Joy said.
"No," I said, "Nurse Joy of Dark Cave."
"Oh yeah I heard about you two," Nurse Joy said, "I got a phone call yesterday, she told me everything. I just couldn't remember you're names."
"He's Chris," Keith said, "And I am Keith. This is he's lovely but annoying girlfriend Jewel."
"I'm not annoying!" she said.
"Well I don't need a reward," Kyle said, he then took out a badge.
"You earned the badge from the gym leader here!" I said surprised.
"Yes about two hours ago," he said, "a little piece of advice, Ghost types have a big advantage against Psychic Pokémon."
"I don't need you're help," I said, "if you forgot we have a match that we started and I'm itching to finish it," I said taking a stance, of course all my Pokémon were exhausted from the trip to this city but I just wanted to show how tuff I was.
"I don't have time to battle you," he said with a smile, good cause I don't have any Pokémon a hundred percent, "I got better things to do like win me my next badge," and with that he walked by me leaving.
"Aren't you going to challenge him?" Nurse Joy asked.
"No all my Pokémon are already exhausted," I said turning around to face Nurse Joy.
We all gave Nurse Joy our Pokéballs to check out our Pokémon and get them back to 100%. She looked over Chikorita's leg support and told me that it has to stay on for a while longer.
{Aww but its cramping my style} Chikorita said after I had took a shower I was sitting at the edge of one of the Pokémon Center beds.
"What style? You can still kick some butt," I said taking out my Pokédex and opening it.
{Yeah but-}
"No buts," I said typing in some stuff in my dex.
{You know we barely do this anymore} she said jumping on to my lap.
"What?" I asked.
{Talk} she said, {Keith and Jewel are always around}
"Yeah," both Keith and Jewel decided to go check out sights around the city, my guess was that Keith was more interested in checking out the women than the sights.
{Well what kind of Pokémon does the gym leader use?} She asked.
"Didn't you hear Kyle?" I said, "wait you were asleep. Well its psychic Pokémon. The only Pokémon that have an advantage against psychic Pokémon are Dark and Ghost types."
{Well we don't have any of those} Chikorita said.
"Yeah, this gym battle is going to be a tough one," I said closing my Pokédex. I set it down on the counter when a girl walked into the room.
"Hello," she said smiling at me, she had long ocean blue hair and was about 5'6.
"Hi?" I said surprised.
"I'm Alexis," she said smiling.
"I'm Chris," I said still confused, why would she just walk up to me and start a conversation like she already knows me.
{I'm confused} Chikorita said.
"Oh what a cute little Chikorita," she said right as she heard Chikorita talk, she bend down and petting it.
{Who you calling "little" sister?} Chikorita said.
"Oh my bad," she said stop petting the Pokémon, "So you going to battle Sabrina are you?" Alexis said looking at me.
"Yeah," I said, "How did you know?" I asked.
"I asked Nurse Joy of course," she said.
"I don't want to seem rude but why are you talking to me?" I asked.
"I think you're cute," she bluntly said.
"Well I don't get a lot of that," I said surprised.
{Not even from your own girlfriend} Chikorita said with a laugh.
"Oh you have a girlfriend," Alexis said with a frown.
"Yeah," I said," I'm sorry."
"No its okay," she said getting up, "I get that a lot. Guys just don't seem to like me."
"Now don't be so hard on yourself," I quickly said, "You seem like a very likeable person."
"For real?" she said perking up.
"Yeah," I said.
"Cool," she smiled then took out a Pokéball, "Sabrina left the city today to go take care of some personal problems, so I am taking her place as gym leader."
{What you?!} Chikorta said surprised.
"Yeah," she said, "I will be seeing you," and with that she left.
{Chris aren't you going to say anything?} Chikorita said.
"Yeah," I said, "she just caught me off guard."
{Well?} She said.
"We'll beat her!" I said.
{That is what I wanted to hear} she said with a smile.
The next day, I had gotten all my Pokémon double checked by Nurse Joy before setting off for they gym.
"Ready to win another badge?" Jewel said looking at the gym doors.
"Yeah," I said with a smile.
"Well you better be cause psychic Pokémon are a pain to beat," Keith said as he polished his Pokéballs.
"Why are you polishing your Pokéballs?" Jewel asked.
"Girls like nice polished balls," Keith said with a kind of sick little smile.
"You are sick," Jewel simply replied.
All the time they were taking talking, I was spending it opening the door and walking into the gym, there was door that lead into different rooms. Most of them were empty probably because Sabrina was away.
"Chika?" Chikorita said perking her head up.
"Nope," I said knowing that she was asking me whether anyone was in the rooms.
Jewel and Keith caught up with me as I keep walking down the main hall, until we reached another set of huge double doors, I pushed on them but they didn't budge.
"Uhh…how are we going to get inside?" Keith asked.
"Well we could all push at the same time?" Jewel suggested.
"Well I-" the door started to open by itself.
"Was it something I said?" Keith said as the door stopped moving.
Inside was a standard Pokémon Stadium, but on the other side was a type of throne my guess it was for the gym leader.
"Welcome Chris," Alexis said running up to him and giving him a hug.
"Yeah," Chris said a little embarrassed.
"Boy if I knew gym leaders were going to be this friendly then I am going to start collecting badges," Keith said smiling.
"Chris do you know her?" Jewel said you could here the angry in her voice. I looked down at Chikorita she was enjoying this.
"Uhh, we met yesterday when you and Keith was sight seeing," I said a little nervous.
"Well then," she said looking at me then Alexis, "Nice to meet you," she extended her hand out.
Alexis stopped hugging me and shook her hand, "Better be careful I might steal you're boyfriend here."
"I don't think so," Jewel said back.
"Why wont girls fight over me!" Keith yelled out then slumped his head down.
"Alexis," I said trying to pay attention to Keith and Jewel, "I'm here for a gym match for the Marsh Badge!"
"Okay if you want to cutie," she winked at me and threw an object. I caught it. It was the badge.
"3 on 1," she said walking to the other side of the stadium.
"But why did-" I started to say.
"Don't worry about the badge if you win you get it if you lose then you're mine!" she said as she started to glow, I had to shield my eyes to keep the light from hurting it. When I opened it we weren't in the gym anymore, we were in some other place where everything was completely dark, almost like limbo only there was a ground, but you couldn't see it cause of a deep smoke surrounding it.
"Hey where are we?" I said looking around, "And where is Keith and Jewel?!"
"There okay," Alexis said, "It's you that should be worried my love."
"Love?" I said confused.
"Yes I choose you to be my mate," she said, her hair was glowing.
"Well I don't want to be yours now take me back!" I screamed.
"Only if you defeat me," she said with a smile on her face.
I had no choice, "Fine then," I had to defeat her if I wanted to get back to the gym. Wait someone was also missing, I looked around but I could not find Chikorita. "Well I guess it is for the best," I said taking out a Pokéball.
"Go," Alexis said waving an arm, a Kadabra appeared.
"I will go with!" I threw the Pokéball.
"Rhy!" the Pokémon yelled.
I turned on my translator, "Rhy we have a lot hanging on this match give it you're all."
{Yo, B I got this junk unda control dawg} he said.
"What?" I said confused.
{Neva mind} the Pokémon said.
"Attack with Tackle!" I yelled turning off my translator.
Rhy ran towards Kadabra it hit the Pokémon head on sending it flying. The Pokémon landed on the ground and slowly rose to its feet.
"Aren't you going to give it any commands?" I said looking at Alexis.
"I don't need to," she said.
"Well then attack again Rhy!" I yelled.
He ran towards Kadabra but instead of he hitting the Pokémon and sending it flying like last time he hit an invisible wall and bounced off.
"What?" I said surprised, I have never seen that happen before.
Kadabra sent out a Psybeam attack that hit Rhy and sent the Pokémon flying towards me, "Ahh return!" I yelled calling the Pokémon back it dematerialize and went into its ball.
"Fine then go!" I said throwing Bubbles Pokéball.
"Marril!" the Pokémon yelled.
"Water Gun!" I yelled.
The Pokémon let out a long stream of water that hit Kadabra and sent the Pokémon flying, it hit the floor in a hard thud.
"I don't know how you're Kadabra managed to defect Rhy but not Bubbles!" I said.
"Just attack," she said her Kadabra slowly stood up.
"Tackle!" I yelled.
Bubbles flew towards the Pokémon hitting it again the reeled then went to unleash a Psybeam.
"No," she said.
"Fine then finish it off with a huge Water Gun," I yelled.
Bubbles let out the biggest Water Gun I have ever seen the attack engulfed Kadabra.
"All right," I said.
"I don't think you should celebrate," Alexis said in that monotone voice.
All of a sudden a Psybeam pieced through the water hitting Bubbles and knocking the Pokémon out.
"2 down," Alexis said in the same monotone voice.
"Bubbles return," I said calling it back.
"Give it up you're attempts are futile you will become my new mate," she said.
"I wont give up," I said taking out another Pokéball, "I don't know how you're Pokémon is stopping my attacks but here goes!" I said throwing Shadow's Pokéball.
"Venonat," the Pokémon said.
"You're my last hope," I said looking at the Pokémon, "Shadow use you're Psybeam!"
The Venonat shot out a huge Psybeam attack aimed at Kadabra, the Pokémon shot out its own connecting with Shadow's
"Come on you can do it!" I yelled.
"Finish it," she said.
Kadabra's Psybeam increased in power flying towards Shadow, the Pokémon used teleport to dodge the attack.
"Double Team!" I yelled, I was hoping this attack would buy me some time.
"Lock On with Psybeam!" she said.
That was it the match was over before I could blink, I slowly took out my Pokéball and recalled my Pokémon.
"You lose," she said, "Now you are mine."
And with that a bright light engulfed me…
