Chapter 6 Training For A Battle
"Man that Walter is so scared of battling," Katie said.
"Yeah," Wendy said agreeing.
"So now we have to go to Peter's Gym," Katie said.
"Yes I heard that he was hard to beat," Wendy explains. "So you're going to have to think hard."
"Yeah, and that's something I have a hard time doing," Katie.
Five minutes later…
"Man," said a kid walking out of Peter's Gym.
"What's wrong?" Katie asked.
"Peter is a strong trainer," the kid explains. "I beat him, but I had a hard time so I'm going to train my Pokémon."
"See?" Wendy said to Katie.
"I think we should stop by the Pokémon Center first," Katie said.
At the Pokémon Center…
"Here," said Katie handing her Pokémon to Nurse Joy.
"Chansey, please take care of these Pokémon," Nurse Joy said handing the Pokémon to Chansey.
"Chansey," the Pokémon said.
"Hey I never heard the information on Chansey," Katie said pulling out her Pokédex.
<Chansey An Egg Pokémon. This rare and elusive Pokémon is sought not for it's battle skills but for it's legendary ability to bring happiness to its trainer. True or not, it's still a horribly weak Pokémon. Chansey make excellent nurses. You can find them in most Pokémon Centers, taking care of sick and injured Pokémon. >
"Wow," Katie said, "I remember when my sister had a Chansey.
"Yeah they may be weak, but they make good friends," Wendy explains.
"Here is one of your Pokémon," Nurse Joy said handing the Pokémon to Katie.
"Thanks," she said throwing out her Pokémon.
"Pid," said the Pokémon.
"Pidgeotto," Katie said hugging it. "We need to go out and train."
"Here is another Pokémon," Nurse Joy said handing the Pokémon to Katie.
"Go," said Katie throwing out her Pokéball.
"Growl," said the Pokémon.
"Growly," said Katie also hugging it. "We need to train today to get ready for Peter's Gym. I guess Nidorina won't be joining us for a while, cause of the big battle we had.
"I'll stay here, and wait for Nidorina," Wendy said.
"Thanks," said Katie.
Outside the Pokémon Center…
"Does anyone want to have a battle?" Katie asked when she saw a group of kids watching a battle.
"Okay Beedrill Fury Attack," the kid said.
"Bee," said the Pokémon using Fury Attack on a Rattata.
"Use Agility Ratty," the kid commanded.
"Hey what's going on here?" Katie asked.
"We are having a tournament, whoever wins that round has to verses someone else until they beat all and become champion," a kid explained.
"Hyper Beam Beedrill," the kid commanded.
"Beed," said the Pokémon charging up fir the Hyper Beam.
"Ratty Tackle," the other kid commanded.
"Let it go Beedrill," the kid commanded.
"Rattt," said the Pokémon in pain as the Hyper Beam hit it.
"Return," said the kid calling back the Ratty.
"Good job kid," said the other kid.
"Thanks Drake, I wish I could be as good as you," the kid said.
"Just keep trying," Drake said.
"I will," said the kid running back to the Pokémon Center.
"I want a battle," said Katie running up.
"Okay," Drake said, "we will use one Pokémon.
"Go for it Growly," said Katie.
"Beedrill return… go Hive," said Drake throwing out the Pokéball.
"Beedrill," said the other Pokémon.
<Beedrill A Poison Bee Pokémon. It has been a dangerous process, but now that this former Weedle has hatched, it is very strong. Unlike Butterfree, Beedrill takes the shape of a bee. On his first set of legs, two drills are attached to them. Beedrill will use these drills to stab his enemy while flying. The aggressive Beedrill will use fast and agile attacks. With practice, Beedrill will be able to learn new techniques like Twineedle and Pin Missile to increase the number of attacks they can launch in a row. Ouch! A Beedrill attack stings! >
"Okay Growly be careful," said Katie. "Use an Ember."
"Growl," said the Pokémon using Ember causing Beedrill to faint.
"Man," said Drake, "that sucks."
"I thought he was the hardest to beat?" Katie said.
Katie has beaten about five people until she has lost.
"Well Katie," a kid said. "You had almost made it to the hall of fame, but it looks like Drake did better."
"He was the easiest there to beat," Katie complained.
"Well it looks like we won't be the easiest to beat," said a voice.
"That's because you don't eat your meat," another voice.
"Now who can that be?" Katie said.
"Team Alpha you fool," Erica said.
"Oh yeah you guys want to have a battle," Katie said.
"Of course," Brett said.
"All right… go Pidgeotto," said Katie calling out her Pokémon.
"We want to help too," said Drake. "Go Beedrill."
"Beedrill," said the Pokémon.
"Go Charmander," said Erica throwing out her Pokéball.
"Char," said the Pokémon using Ember on the Beedrill causing it to faint.
"That's impossible," said Drake with his hands on top of his head.
"I can't believe he lost to Team Alpha," Katie said.
"Go Electrode," said a kid.
"Return Pidgeotto," said Katie. "It's going to explode.
"Electrode," said the Pokémon exploding.
Five Minutes Later…
"Hey Katie," said Wendy. "What happen here?"
"Team Alpha," Katie responded.
"Oh, well here is your Pokémon," said Wendy handing her Nidorina.
"Thanks," Katie said.
"So are you headed for Peter's Gym?" Wendy asked.
"I guess so," Katie said shrugging her shoulders.
At Peter's Gym…
"I'm here to battle someone named Peter," Katie said.
"That's person is me," Peter responded.
"I'm here to challenge you to a Pokémon match," Katie said.
"Is this lovely lady your partner?" Peter asked.
Wendy was so angry that she started to punch Peter in the head.
"Uncle… uncle," Peter said. Wendy released him.
"So how many Pokémon?" Katie asked.
"Two on two," Peter responded.
"Go for it Growly," Katie said.
"Growl," said the Pokémon.
"Go Sandshrew," Peter demanded.
"Shrew," said the Pokémon.
"Sandshrew, use Swift," Peter commanded.
"Growly, Ember all of them," Katie commanded.
"Growl," said the Pokémon each time he knocked out the Swift.
"Okay," said Katie, "now Tackle it."
"Growl," said the Pokémon running up to Sandshrew, but Sandshrew just stood there.
"Growl," said the Pokémon, as he was about to hit Sandshrew.
"Shrew," said the Pokémon picking up Growly and throwing him at the wall.
"Growlllllllllll," said the Pokémon getting back up.
"Dig," Katie ordered.
"Growl," said the Pokémon digging underground.
"You know what to do Sandshrew," Peter said winking at him.
"Hey that rhymes," Katie said laughing so hard.
"Jump now," Peter commanded.
"Shrew," said the Pokémon.
"Growl," said the Pokémon getting out from underground.
"Shrew!" the Pokémon yelled about to Stomp on Growly.
"Growl?" said the Pokémon looking up, and then using Ember on Sandshrew.
"Good work Growly," Katie cheered.
"Growlithe," said the Pokémon celebrating, but didn't notice that Sandshrew got up, then Slash him.
"Growly return," Katie said calling back her Pokémon. "Go Pidgeotto."
"Pid," said the Pokémon breathing hard because of all the other battles.
"Use all the Swift you can use," Peter commanded.
"Shrew," said the Pokémon using Swift, but then Pidgeotto disappeared.
"Pid," said the Pokémon appearing out of nowhere and using Wing Attack on Sandshrew.
"Sandshrew return… go Ivysaur," Peter commanded.
"Saur," said the Pokémon strongly.
"Try Razor Leafs and Vine Whips," Peter commanded.
"Quick Attack," said Katie, but Pidgeotto was too weak to move fast. Pidgeotto was hit by every move Ivysaur had, and then Ivysaur charged up Solar Beam, aimed it at Pidgeotto, and fired.
