Greetings Fellow Toastmasters
This coming November our district, District 51 will be holding our 9th Semi-Annual Convention in Kuching on November 16 to 18. This Convention promises much for each and every Toastmaster who attends.
For District Officers and Club Officers, there will be our half year business meetings, that is, our District Executive Committee meeting and our District Council meeting. I would like to urge all Division Governors, Area Governors, District Council members, that is, Club Presidents and Vice-Presidents as well as other Club Officers and all Toastmasters to attend. This is also an opportunity for Club Officers and Toastmasters to learn more about Toastmasters beyond their Club environment.
For Toastmasters who attend this Convention, we have invited the 2001 Champion of Public Speaking Darren LaCroix to be our Keynote Speaker at the Opening Ceremony. We have also provided numerous educational sessions in both English and Mandarin. This is the first time we are having more educational sessions in Mandarin to cater to the needs of our many Mandarin Clubs. Finally, we have the District Humorous Speech Contest which will bring together our very best. The most wonderful thing about Conventions is the opportunity to learn, to make new friends and to meet old ones.
