What is Yoga?

Yoga originates in India and goes back nearly 3,000 years. Yoga is derived from Sanskrit and means "joining together". Yoga strives to unite the body and the mind, and involves the whole person.

Yoga combines both mental and physical activity.

The Five Principles of Yoga
Proper relaxation- Performing relaxation exercises each day to relieve tension, and let go of your worries.
Proper exercise- Perfoming the postures of yoga in a careful and systematic way. Never straining. These postures will stretch and tone the body, while keeping the joints flexible.
Proper breathing- breathing fully, inhaling fully and exhaling fully to make use of the entire lung.
Proper diet- Eat a well-balanced and healthy diet, with a focus on natural foods.
Positive thinking and meditation- Thinking positively will restore the mind, remove negative thoughts from the mind, and bring calm to your life.
