Course Description

 

Course Catalog Description: Course Catalog Description: Freehand sketching. Architectural black and white rendering using pencil and ink. Rendering in colors (pencil, water, Magic marker and airbrush). Developing perspective views. Architecture presentation. Modeling.

The course continues Architectural Communication 1 efforts to introduce ranges of graphic communication tools, techniques, and conventions designers use to communicate architectural ideas. It covers the following techniques:

·        Freehand sketching (using pencil)

·        Rendering in black and white (using pencil and ink)

·        Advanced architectural presentation techniques (shade and shadow)

·        Developing perspective views (entourage)

·        Advanced architectural communication techniques.

·        Modeling (using paper and balsawood)

·        Rendering in colors (using pencil, watercolor, magic-markers and airbrush)

 

Prerequisites: Architectural Communication1

1.        Course Objectives: Develop students’ ability to communicate graphics using most of the available architectural representation options and techniques.

2.        Help students understand the rationale behind the usage of a certain representation technique in a particular situation, and help them appreciate the choice of the right technique under particular circumstances.

3.        Enable students to communicate their ideas via the appropriate usage of architectural representation techniques.

 

Course activities: Workshop, Exercises, Assignments, Readings, and Exams.

PLAGIARISM

The matter of plagiarism is taken very seriously by the Department of Architecture and by the College. We, therefore, wish to draw students’ attention to the fact that any student who submitted work contains the unacknowledged work of another shall be subject to serious academic consequences. The College Council may determine this with regard to the marking of the work, or the entire semester work. Also as determined by the Dean in accordance with the University’s Disciplinary Procedures. The same applies to those students using external help to accomplish their submitted project work.

 

ATTENDENCE

Attendance is expected in all sessions.  After 2 missing sessions without acceptable excuse, this will result in student receiving 1st warning; the next 2 missing session will results in student receiving final warning after which the student will be failed in the course.

 

HAND-IN DATES

Please note that all coursework constitute part of a formal University examination, and therefore only reasons of illness supported by a medical certificate, will be accepted for late-submission.   Any late submission without acceptable reason will be penalized 10% per day of fraction thereof.
