Chapter V
Intermission

“Kyle Rayner, welcome back.”  Uatu said to the Earth man.

“How did I get here?  I mean, again.  Where are we?”

“We are in the Watcher's home.”  A stranger, a Green Lantern in a traditional uniform said from Rayner's right.

“Hello, Green Lantern.” Kyle said to him and extended his hand. “I'm Green Lantern of Earth.”

The former Silver Surfer shook hands with him. “I am Norrin Radd; pleased to meet you.”

“Ganthet gave me a ring, and Uatu gave you a – Hey! Your ring isn't like Jade's OR mine.”

“It is unique, one-of-a-kind as yours is.”  Radd answered.

“May I have the battery, Kyle Rayner?”  Uatu asked.  The other Watchers observed silently from their chairs while Uatu and the two Green Lanterns stood on the main floor.

“Sure.  Ganthet assured me there's some grand scheme at work.”  He handed it up to the taller being.

“There is, indeed.”  Uatu replied as he took a sliver from the battery.  He handed the newly-formed lantern to Norrin Radd.  “You will charge the ring with this.”

“When will Jade and Tomar-Dar get here?”  Kyle asked.

“They have returned.”  Uatu answered as he handed Kyle a battery.  The original floated motionlessly in the air.

“Kyle!”  A familiar voice cried from behind him.

“Jade! You're back!”  He hugged her. “Hi there, Tomar!”

“Hello, Lantern.”  They shook hands. “Kyle.”

“Oh. Hi.”  Jade said to the other Green Lantern in the room. “I'm Jade of Earth.  Don't let the green skin fool you.”

“Hello, Jade and Tomar-Dar.  I am Norrin Radd of Zenn-La.”

“It is good to be here.”  Tomar said to everyone.  “And to meet the new Guardians of the Universe.”

“Big guys,”  Kyle turned and looked at the four silent Watchers.  “Ganthet went to see an old Green Lantern that’s still alive.  Ganthet sure seemed surprised that the Waldunian was alive.”

“Wolsoonian.”  Iezo corrected.

"You know too?"  Kyle asked the seated Watcher.

"We know." Ubbi answered. "We are the Watchers who are now the Guardians."

"What shall we do, Guardians?"  It was Tomar-Dar, in the traditional GL suit.   "I want to go to him, to welcome him."

"No. We will allow Ganthet to greet him, to explain."

"There is another former Green Lantern, which you Kyle Rayner must meet. You must give him a ring and battery.  Tomar-Dar, you will go with him."

"Sounds good to me." Rayner said. "Ready, partner?"

"I sure am."  The Xudarian smiled.

Uatu raised his hand and the pair vanished.

"What about us?"  Jade asked Uatu.

"You, Jennie-Lynn Hayden, will return to Earth, to patrol.  While you, Norrin Radd, will appoint the next Green Lantern. You know who she is."

"I will speak with her; she must decide for herself."

"Of course."

"One last question."  Jade said as she handed Radd a new ring.  "Where exactly are we, and will you keep teleporting us in and out? Ok, that's two questions."

"You are in my home which had been on Earth's Moon.  We are out of phase slightly from the universe.  Only we new Guardians, and Green Lanterns may enter."  Uatu revealed.

"And the answer to my second question?"

"As you are needed, we will summon you.  You may also contact us."

"Works for me.  Send me back to Earth.  One to beam down."  She grinned, and vanished.

"I am also ready." Norrin Radd said, as he held his battery and put the second ring on his pinkie finger.

"Very well.  We will be in touch, Norrin Radd."

He vanished, and the four new Guardians continued to watch.
