The Green Lantern Corps

Chapter IV
Raker Qarrigat

Raker Qarrigat had been a Green Lantern for centuries.  He didn't know that.  Oh, he knew he was Green Lantern.  He knew who he was.

But The Merge had not been a smooth phenomenon. That is, not every thing, not every planet, not every sentient had made it from one universe to this new combined one at the same exact moment.  Some had not made it over at all.

The planet Apokolips was one of these “failed ones”.  As a result, no Green Lantern, of this new timeline, had ever been to that world.  And so, neither had Raker Qarrigat.*

*: It DID happen in the DCU in “Green Lantern 80-page Giant #3”... Kenny

Without Green Lanterns battling Darkseid so long ago, Raker Qarrigat had not been the one to recommend a larger Green Lantern Corps to the Guardians.

What DID happen was this.

One moment, in the emptiness of space was nothing.  The next, Raker Qarrigat “popped” into existence.

“Where am I?  What happened?” The Wolsoonian wondered as he tried to get his bearings.  He was protected from the vacuum by the green glow of his power.

Meanwhile, on Earth…

“Why did we have to come here to get my battery, Ganthet?  Couldn't you, or your new big brothers have summoned it to the round table?”  Kyle asked the smaller being.

“We could have, Uatu said he wanted to appoint a Green Lantern himself, without you or I present.”

“What?  Who does he think he is?” Kyle demanded.  “You're the last real Guardian.  You should be calling the shots.”

“I and they are the Guardians now.” Ganthet restated. “I agreed to his choice.  We agreed that it would be best if Uatu speak to him without us.”

“Ok then.  If it's ok with you, it's ok with me.  I guess.”

“Let's get back to them.”  Ganthet said, as he held the battery. “You'll meet the newest Green Lantern and Tomar-Dar when-”  He stopped. “It cannot be!”

“What is it?  A disturbance in the Force?”

“It is a Green Lantern of old.  He is alive and in the universe.”  Ganthet was staring blankly ahead.

“Anyone I've heard of?  Is it Hal?”

“One who is older, much older.”  He turned to Kyle. “Return to the other Guardians.  I am going to the Wolsoonian.” Ganthet gave the battery to Kyle and vanished.

“How do I go where I don't know?”  Kyle asked the empty room.  Then he vanished.
