Important Notice

If you have received an email supposedly from eBay or PayPal asking for personal information because they say something is wrong with your current account....
PLEASE IGNORE! READ THE FOLLOWING AND FOLLOW eBay's INSTRUCTIONS

eBay and PayPal have received reports of fraudulent spam emails targeting users such as yourself whose user ID is an email address. These unauthorized emails claim to come from eBay or PayPal and may contain a link to a page that looks similar to a real eBay or PayPal webpage.

The emails may claim that "your information has been lost" or "needs to be verified", even that "your account may have been compromised".

They have a "harvesting" campaign that sends out emails congratulating you on your new "orange" or "Fidelity"(these are nonexistant) star and offering gifts or discounts, in an effort to induce users to give out their eBay or PayPal password, credit card or other personal details. eBay promotions will always be featured on the General Announcement webpage.

It also appears the bad guys are using the phone again. If anyone gets a call from someone saying they represent eBay or are connected to eBay and they are trying to sell Ebay Exposed with a membership fee of $129.00 a year this is not eBay. You might ask for a return phone number and try to get any information you can and send it to spoof@ebay.com.

eBay or PayPal will never ask for your password or credit card in an email. Never give out personal information by clicking on any link in an email. Instead, go directly to eBay's "Account Info" webpage to update account information and ensure that your information is being securely processed by eBay.

If you suspect that you have received such an email from either eBay or PayPal, do not open any attachment or click on any link. Please then report it to eBay or PayPal by forwarding the entire email, including headers, to spam@ebay.com or spoof@ebay.com. Or by reporting it via eBay's Safe Harbor Report Webform. To report a suspicious PayPal email go to Contact PayPal Webform.

You will need to be able to paste suspicious e-mail with full headers into the "Message" section of these forms. If you are not sure what "full headers" are or how to turn them on, use this link for more information: Spamcop. The alphabetical-numerical "soup" in the header gives information about where the email originated, and perhaps who sent it. To get information on retrieving full headers on AOL email, go to WHO@, where you will find full instructions for doing so.

Be wary of answering "silly" questions you get through the Email Forwarding System. By all means, answer legitimate questions from potential bidders, but if the question is obviously frivolous, answering it gives the sender your email address, and that may have been the purpose. Also be aware that using your email address as your eBay ID or posting your email address in any chat room or on any forum board, this info can be harvested and used by any hijacker to try to obtain your personal info or for sending spam. Even if you never post to the boards or post an email address, be aware that your email address is right there on the picture properties you use, if you host them thru your ISP or thru your own website, and the spammers are able to harvest your email address from them.

Read the site, read the boards. The more you educate yourself, the less likely you will be victimized.

If you have become the victim of a hacker, you may click on the link to
Live Help for Hacked Accounts Only
for immediate help getting your eBay account back to order. Please remember that this link is for hacked accounts only. Be courteous! Use this link only if you have been hacked. Thank you.
