NEWS DX

GOOD CROP BY K1B. - The expedition to the Island Baker K1B finished May 7 at 1800z  and it achieved an excellent crop with 86000 QSO. The log will be on-line, but it is not still clever. http://www.kragujevac.co.yu/kh1/

I CONTACT WITH ISS. - In England they are excited because GB2HC the station of the Radius Club "Harrogate Ladies' College" it was able to contact with the station of the space ship ISS, with the astronaut Carl Walz, KC5TIE. They even filmed that moment that you consider historical, and he can it turns in the page of rsgb.com, but it requires the last version of Half Windows Player to see it.

NEWS OF THE DXCC. - Bill Moore, NC1L, Manager of the DXCC, has you inform it that the Qsl of OJ0U is already accepted, Market Reef. However, they cannot still accept those of D6/WB4MBU because the necessary documentation has not still been presented.

REPORT BY D68C. - Phil, G3SWH, the Qsl manager of D68C that achieved the fabulous quantity of 168,722 QSOs in 18 days, until the moment has already confirmed more than 56,000 QSOs so much for via direct as by mail electronic, but they continue arriving many applications, but it assures that the answer average is of 48 hours. For the time being he is being devoted to answer several boxes that have arrived with Qsl via Bureau. He explains that each card Qsl is double, it weighs each approximately a 10 grams and he brings space for 3 QSO, for what is necessary to request the Qsl of all the carried out contacts at the same time, to speed up its shipment. With a new IRC you grieve it covers the cost for a QSL, and if it is not enough what has sent, the QSL will be a correspondent via terrestrial or via Bureau. More information is available in: http://www.dxbands.com/comoros/

NEW VERSION OF MixW. - The "DX Bulletin of XE1BEF" he informs that the excellent digital multimode MixW is already available in its new version 2.05. it only Works with the card type SoundBlaster and with some simple connections. You can operate in PSK31, BPSK31, QPSK31, FSK31, RTTY, Packet, Pactor, Amtor, MFSK, Throb, MT63, Hellschreiber, Fax, SSTV,  receive and transmit CW, and he has connection to the Callbook. It is very easy of operating, and it also has a map azimutal that identifies the QTH of the operator and mark the route of the QSO and the grades the rotor besides that it alerts to move if it is a new DXCC and the digital RST of the reception points out. It is prepared to only be used as log, even in competitions. It is recommended to keep the old version, since this new version seemingly presents some problems if it is used with the Windows XP. You can lower it in: http://mixw.net/downloads.htm (Thank you HJ3ORT).

MENSURATION SWR. - Many times we have wattmeters that don't have indication of stationary wave and we don't know to that is equal or the other way around, here I give them a list of conversions:

                                   SWR POWER REFLECTED%

                                    1.05 0.06

                                    1.10 0.23

                                    1.20 0.83

                                    1.30 1.70

                                    1.40 2.80

                                    1.50 4.00

                                    1.60 5.30

                                    1.80 7.80

                                    2.00 10.90

                                    3.00 25.00

                                    4.00 36.00

                                   10.00 67.00

                                  INFINITE 100.00

For example: My meter of waves stationary (SWR) it marks me 1.5, the reflected power is that is to say 4% if my exit power is of 100 watts they are reflected toward the transceiver 4% or be 4 watts and they leave to the antenna 96 watts.

Another example: The meter of power reflected mark 25 watts and my exit are 100 watts, the wave stationary (SWR) it is of 3.00 and the exit toward the antenna they are 75 effective watts.   (Thank you Fernando J. Muguerza, XE2FL)

MANUAL OF ANTENNA. - For those who have the antenna AN-LP1, and they like to clean it or to repair it, we have the planes of the manual of service. With all pleasure I send it to who requests it to me. hj3ort@yahoo.com (Thank you HJ3ORT).

QSL 5X1GS. - WB2YQH, the Qsl manager 5X1GS,  she explains that many have not been able to receive its Qsl because he doesn't still have the log, and neither Graham 5X1GS have been able to put them in the web because she has had many problems to communicate from Kampala, in the frontier of Sudan, where it is from november. He has planned to return to the United Kingdom the 24, and then it will solve that problem. For the time being, he is operating from Kampala in 17 meters, during the weekends. The Qsl via WB2YQH.

BAND 60 METERS. - The "DX Bulletin of XE1BEF" she informs that there are good and bad news, since it has been proposed to the FCC it is assigned for domestic use in United States the band of 60 meters between 5.25 and 5.4 MHZ. It is also almost clever the authorization to allow the use up of the 136 khz in band LF. Another proposal of the ARRL to the FCC is to rise to the radio use interested in the frequencies from 2400 to 2402 MHZ. Initially May 2 were voted unanimously so that you of course to the steps and it is expected that very soon the authorization arises for the 60 meters like new band of HF, and it would be the first action in its type after in 1979 the bands of 30, were authorized 17 and 12 meters, called Warcs. According to the experiments carried out by WA2XSY the 60 meters they are more reliable than the bands of 40 and 80 meters. The bad news is that the band of 60 meters, it could be the tomb of the band of 40 meters that you are requesting many European broadcast. (Thank you HJ3ORT).

RECOGNITION. - The new Directive Meeting of The League of Radioaficionados of Cali, it has considered as Radioaficionados from the Year to Hiroaki Takashima, HK5QGX and Jairo Vargas HK5MQZ, for their excellent operation DX from the island of Malpelo in June of 2001. Very deserved distinction.! Congratulations! (Thank you Beto, HK3ÐÐÐ).

NEXT WEEK

MI QRP Brief Day, CW Sprint, begins at the 2300z of May 27 and it finishes at the 0300z of May 28.

PROPAGATION

Donald, KB6QLC, suggests to check the propagation indexes, first he visits one another 28800 kHz, as well as 28380 kHz that every day is active, except Sunday, at 1800z.

Neil Clarke, G0CAS, tells us in its weekly work of investigation on the propagation conditions that the solar activity has been low, while the activity geomagnetic was quiet with an average of 7 units. The speed of the solar wind, according to the data of the ship space ACE, they detected a decline with speeds of 560 kilometers per second at 320.

The tendency to improve the conditions in HF continues as it happens in summer, with good contacts between north-south and east-west, and they are registering openings DX every day in 28 mhz., but every time is less consistent, while in 21 and 14 MHZ they go improving, being presented AND Sporadic small in HF and VHF.

It is expected that in this week the solar activity is moderate, although the activity is expected it is low. MUF's will be presented during the hours of the light of the day in same latitudes around 28MHZ for the south and of 25MHZ for the north. When the darkness it should be around 15MHZ. The roads this week between Australia and Europe they should have an usable maximum frequency with a proportion of 50 percent of success, around 24MHZ, but the good frequency with a success of 90 percent will be around 19MHZ and the best moment could be among 0800 1400z. The AND Sporadic their activity should increase some days in 28MHZ and from time to time in 50MHZ.
