St Joseph Light & Power's buses

Car Barns Car Barns
St Joseph Light & Power Car Barns. Used to house their city buses & trolleys. It was torn down & a new Burger King now occupies the lot.

Trolley
The first street car railway in St Joseph was established in 1866. These street cars were horse or mule pulled along railway tracks set on the dirt streets.
This trolley was on the Wyatt Park line in 1910. Note the "Cowcatcher" on front and the wheels in the style of a railroad. You can still find traces of the trolley tracks in St Joseph.

Trolley
A bus of the St Joseph Railway, Light, Heat and Power Company passes the new City Hall in the 1930's. Note the older style street lights.

Trolley
The buses were still connected to the power lines above the streets into the 1960's. They converted from the steel wheels and tracks to rubber tires in the 1930's.

A newer World Trans 3000 series diesel bus.
