WPW DRAWS A CROWD OF OVER 700
TO THE WEST VIRGINIA HARVEST FESTIVAL!

World Professional Wrestling And the West Virginia Harvest festival proved to be a great source of distraction during the weekend of September 15th. A record crowd of more than 700 people saw a great WPW show with shocking events and high-flying action in and out of the ring. The big news in WPW is the Tommy GIbson/Hollywood Kid incident that happened as a culmination of the Main Event. But lets start at the beginning:

At the beginning of the show, Rock-N-Roller Tommy Gibson made his way down to ringside and was interviewed by WPWs ring announcer Dave Allen. When asked why he had come down to the ring, Gibson explained that he was there because he wanted a WPW World Heavyweight Title shot. He said that that was the only reason he had for coming to Logan that night. Dave Allen, though, reminded the Rock-N-Roller that he had many chances. In fact, he had two shots at the WPW champion Psycho and had lost them both. Allen told Gibson that his ranking had fallen and that he was no longer the number one contender, so he seemed to have lost his chance.

But Tommy Gibson reminded the announcer that it had been announced that whoever won the 15 man Downtown Rumble would receive a Championship Match during the WPW show at the Chapmanville Apple Butter Festival. Gibson said that he intended to win the Rumble and earn the title shot. With that having been said, it was time for the Downtown Rumble to begin.

Match 1 - THE DOWNTOWN RUMBLE

In a Downtown Rumble, two men enter and then every two minutes another man enters until all are in the ring. Then it's an over the top rope Battle Royale. The last man standing is the winner.

15 men were in the ring at the same time including Joey Nelson, Studd Stable Members Shawn Edwards and James Stevens, Big Daddy Gordy, DareDevil, Redd Dogg Bill, Gangsta Zee and Bobby Storm. Newcomers Rhayne, Broekyn, BJ the DJ, and Madd Dawg joined veterans Adorable Danny Ray, Rock-N-Roller Tommy Gibson and Hollywood Kid in this match for a shot at the WPW Heavyweight champion at the Apple Butter Festival in Chapmanville on October 6th.

This half-hour long battle had so much action it is impossible to tell you all of it. As each new man came to the ring a different element was introduced. It seemed no one had any clear advantage although the Studd Stable seemed the most cohesive in working together. When Stevens, Edwards and Gangsta Zee are together, they are as equal a threat as any other tandem in WPW. Adorable Danny Ray and Joey Nelson appeared to have ironed out any differences they had prior to coming into this match. Nelson had been upset with the Adorable Ones return to rule-breaking ways in the WV Wrecking Crew in APW. Here, ADR is in his home environment and in his own element, you might say. Once Danny Ray draws the line, it?est not to cross him (As the Studd Stable would find out later on!)

During this match, Rock-N-Roller Tommy Gibson eliminated Big Daddy Gordy. As Gibson stood jawing at The Doctor at ringside, Hollywood Kid was thrown into him at ringside. The resulting collision cause the Rock-N-Roller to be knocked over the top rope. Gibson couldnt believe it. Instead of blaming The Doctor or his own lack of attention, he yelled at Hollywood Kid asking - Why?ou do that? The Kid though, went on in the match unfazed by Gibsons behavior. Tommy was very upset and even mouthed off to fans as he walked back to the dressing room. Harvest Festival promoter Gena Beckwith, who last year escorted Tommy to ringside, showed up to commiserate with him.

At the end of the match it came down to Hollywood Kid, and Studd Stable members Shawn Edwards and Gangsta Zee. They used their advantage and teamed together catching the Kid in the double team. Yet Hollywood fought on valiantly. In fact, he put himself at risk of elimination when he clothes-lined Gangsta Zee over the top rope. Somehow, he caught himself and then pulled himself back up to the ring apron. Edwards already upset at his partners elimination rushed at the Hollywood Kid to give him a shoulder block and knock him off the ring. But at the last second, Hollywood Kid dropped down pulling the top rope with him and Edwards tumbled head over heels to the outside of the ring. Kid jumped back into the ring over the tope rope and the referee called for the bell.

DOWNTOWN RUMBLE WINNER: HOLLYWOOD KID

So Hollywood Kid won the chance to face the WPW Heavyweight Champion in a title match at the Apple Butter Festival in Chapmanville.


Match 2

Our second match of the evening had SexyBoy Bobby Storm taking on BJ the DJ. Storm was returning to WPW for the first time since his turn as a member of the Cool World Order. BJ the DJ is a newcomer to WPW. Although there were problems with his music at the show, word is that BJ is a big fan of Britney Spears, and that he seems to be stuck in the 1990s! Both men took this opportunity to show the crowd their strengths. Storm has an amazing combination of strength and agility. Except for his size, his physique is on par with Lex Luger in his prime. SexyBoy showed his experience in this win over the youngster.

Match 3

In this match, Studd Stable member James Stevens took on Madd Dawg. Stevens was accompanied to the ring by Gangsta Zee. Madd Dawg is another rookie newcomer to WPW, He is a student of the Old Style School of Wrestling and was eager to show off his newly learned craft. Unfortunately, he let his focus drift from his opponent to his stable-mate on the outside. With Zee for a distraction, Stevens had no problems putting down the Dawg.

Match 4

Next up was the tag team matchup of Adorable Danny Ray and Joey Nelson against Studd Stable members Gangsta Zee and Shawn Edwards. Danny Ray and Edwards had previous heat after ADRs upset loss to Edwards in a WPW TV Title match in Mullens as part of the Dogwood Festival. Studd Stable member James Stevens also came to the ring. Adorable Danny Ray took this opportunity to berate Zee over his curly locks of hair. ADR kept onto him calling him Goldilocks, Sexy Lips and suggesting that with the right shade of lipstick, the Gangsta might be able to get a date! As ADR kept it up over the course of the match, Gangsta let his anger get the best of him. After a fan offered Zee some of her lipstick, Danny Ray schocked the Gangsta with a new kind of hold... a liplock! Yes, ADR planted a big wet one right on the Studds lips. Gangsta Zee was so stunned by what had transpired that Joey Nelson scooped him up for a quick three count. Danny Ray then issued a chellenge for a grudge match in Chapmanville.

At this time WPW was scheduled to have an intermission, but with the size of the crowd, it was decided just to continue on with the show. During the intermission, Hollywood Kid was scheduled to announce his tag team partner for his later match against Psycho and Big Daddy Gordy. Instead of the Kid, Rock-N-Roller Tommy Gibson came down to ringside with Gena Beckwith of the Harvest Festival. Gibson then called for Hollywood Kid to come to the ring saying he had an important announcement for the Kid to hear. As Hollywood Kid and DareDevil entered the ring, Psycho, The Doctor and Big Daddy Gordy also came to ringside.

The Rock-N-Roller announced that Beckwith had something important to share with all ??pecially The Doctor. Since the Doctor had been unwilling to schedule Psycho for a title match at the Harvest festival, Beckwith announced that she had inserted a clause into the Harvest Festival contract which gave her the opportunity to, in a match of her choosing, make one stipulation or rule. Gibson grabbed the mic and asked Hollywood Kid to pay careful attention. Beckwith then said that she was going to make her stipulation for the tag team match later that evening. She said that her stipulation is that whoever makes the pinfall in the tag team match becomes the WPW Heavyweight Champion. The Doctor became upset stating that he never agreed to any such match and that they still didn?now who their opponent would be. Meanwhile, Tommy Gibson was lobbying to be Hollywood Kids partner in the match. He said that not only would this give him the opportunity to win the WPW title, it would also let the Kid square things with the Rock-N-Roller for knocking him out of the ring earlier.

But Hollywood Kid would not be swayed despite Gibson?leas. He told Gibson that he had already asked DareDevil to be his partner and that he would not go back on his word. With that, Gibson became livid. You could see the anger on his face. The Doctor, laughing at Gibsons plight told the Rock-N-Roller he would never get another chance at the title. Hollywood Kid and DareDevil left for the dressing room. It was time for the next match.

Match 5

Since Tommy Gibson was scheduled to be in the next match, he stayed in the ring. But he kept yelling after both The Doctor and Hollywood Kid. In fact, his opponent in the match, WPW journeyman Redd Dogg Bill took the opportunity to jump the Rock-N-Roller while his back was turned. But Gibson quickly turned around, grabbed Bill by the head and did a running bulldog. He rolled up the veteran scoring a quick three count in under 10 seconds!

Match 6

Here was another singles match introducing at least one new competitor to WPW. His name is Broekyn. His opponent for the match was Rhayne, an infrequent WPW competitor, who has also been working some NWA shows. This match had the most high-flying action of the evening. Rhayne, whos billed as being from the Amazon Jungle, used moves equaling those of the Hardy Boyz. And Broekyn appeared ready to fling his body at his opponent regardless of the risks involved. The intense action spilled into the crowd. Rhaynes flying press of the top rope ended this match early as the crowd was ready for more

WINNER: RHAYNE

Finally it was time for the main event tag team match of Hollywood Kid and DareDevil versus Psycho and Big Daddy Gordy, managed by The Doctor. Psycho and DareDevil started the match and it seemed like The Doctor had a working plan going. After some quick give and take, Psycho threw DareDevil to the outside of the ring where Big daddy gordy was waiting. WPW?ig man threw Daredevil to the ground with a slam and a splash. As The Doctor grabbed the referees attention, complaining about the Hollywood Kid, Psycho went to the outside and suplexed DareDevil through a table. He then grabbed a chair and began beating DareDevil senseless. He used the chair on DDs leg, folding the leg up in the chair and then dropping his leg onto the chair. Twice! And then used the top of the chair to slam into the knee of Dare Devil. You could hear the young mans cries throughout the streets of Logan. As the referee finally cleared the ringside area, EMTs and security were summoned to help DareDevil to the dressing room.

Now Psycho and Gordy had Hollywood Kid at a great disadvantage. With no partner for HWK to turn to, The Doctor knew it was only a matter of time before he would wear down. And with Psycho and Big Daddy making quick tags, it was like there were two men in the ring at all times. Psycho made fun of the crowd for trying to cheer the California Coolness on. As the crowds cheers turned to screams of concern for the Kid, who should come running to ringside but Rock-N-Roller Tommy Gibson. He quickly jumped up into the corner and stuck out his hand for the tag. The crowd roared its approval. But Psycho and Gordy werent going to let the Rock-N-Roller interfere with their plans. They kept Hollywood near their corner and cut him off from the rest of the ring. Finally though, the Kid made a comeback, after knocking Psycho to the mat, Kid summoned his remaining strength and dove to the corner for the tag.

As the crowd cheered, Tommy Gibson stepped through the ropes and into the ring. He took a step towards Psycho, then turned seemingly to check on the Kid, even helping him to his feet. Then he turned, drew back his fist and leveled??E HOLLYWOOD KID!
The crowd was stunned. Even Psycho and Gordy appeared confused. Gibson then threw the Kid over to Psycho who rolled him up for the three count. Then, Gibson began to stomp and kick on the prone Hollywood Kid. ?this what you wanted???bson screamed??t to who? From The Doctors smile you got the feeling that Gibson may have been talking to him. But he kept beating the Kid until Psycho and Gordy began to join in. Psycho even went so far as to bring in the remains of the table he had used on DareDevil. He propped it up in the corner and told Gibson to put the Kid through it. Gibson was more than happy to oblige the mental misfit. But Psycho wasnt finished. He figured that now it was his turn as he grabbed the unconscious Kid and again threw him into the table, shattering it into tiny pieces.

Outside of the ring, The Doctor found himself face to face with Beckwith. While she stood in shock watching Gibson beat on the Kid, The Doctor was preparing to throw a fireball at her. WPW?ingside announcer Dave Allen saw what was transpiring and dove to push Beckwith out of the way. Too late for Allen, though as he took the full brunt of the fireball in the face. Again the EMTs and security hustled the announcer to the dressing room and flushed his face and eyes with water. As the still weary Hollywood Kid was taken to the back, you could hear The Doctors laugh echoing throughout the streets.

WINNER: PSYCHO & BIG DADDY GORDY (MANAGED BY THE DOCTOR)

What will the Apple Butter Festival in Chapmanville hold for WPW? Will Tommy Gibson seek to interfere in the Hollywood Kids match against Psycho? Will The Kid leave Chapmanville as the new WPW Heavyweight Champion? Will Adorbale Danny Ray have vengeance in the grudge match in Chapmanville? Or will the Studd Stable use their three-man advantage to foil the Adorable One and Joey Nelson? Will DareDevils knee be okay? Will there be more newcomers? WPW Returns to the Logan County Harvest Festival

This year's Harvest Festival in downtown Logan promises something for everyone. There's music, games, food and crafts and the return of World Professional Wrestling! That's right, WPW returns to the Harvest Festival on Saturday, September 15th @ 8:00 p.m. and promises to bring more head banging and body slamming action than ever before.

This show will be the biggest ever in Logan!

Among the talent scheduled to participate is WPW Heavyweight Champion Psycho; the high-flying DareDevil; the "Handsomest Man in Wrestling" Adorable Danny Ray; Rock-N-Roller Tommy Gibson; "SexyBoy" Bobby Storm; the Prophet Joey Nelson; The Studd Stable, Rip Manson and more!

Last year saw Harvest festival promoter Gena Beckwith accompaniy Rock-N-Roller Tommy Gibson to the ring to square off against Psycho ad his infamous manager, The Doctor. The Doctor confronted Beckwith in the ring saying that she had no business in the ring and certainly not working with Gibson. He insinuated that the only business she could be employed in was "the world's oldest profession" and called her a two bit *%$*$!

However, Beckwith promptly decked the medical misfit with a quick right hand! The Doctor swears she had a fistful of quarters and has vowed to extract revenge at this year's festival.

"She has been a thorn in my side all year long", says The Doctor. "Fans come up to me and ask why I let her get the best of me. Well, this isn't over by a long shot. Why, I even entered the chili contest in Logan just to embarass her Harvest Festival Chili with my award winning (2000 People's Choice Award, 2001 2nd Place overall & 2001 Second Place Best Booth) Doctor's Prescription Chili! I will show her that I am better than her in every possible way imagined. And if I have to, she will find out why I carry this briefcase! I have never raised my hands against a woman before, but in her case, I may make an exception!"

Everyone's favorite lunatic, Psycho will put his WPW Heavyweight Championship on the line. Psycho is a 7 times WPW United States Heavyweight Champion and has held the WPW World Heavyweight Title since last year. He has fought off all comers including Tommy Gibson and DareDevil. Lately he has been involved in a feud with the Hollywood Kid. Will the Kid show up in Logan to face the masked miscreant?

One of the wrestlers in attendance will earn a title shot against the WPW Champion by winning a Downtown Rumble. In this match, two men enter the ring and the match starts. Every two minutes another competitor enters the ring until every man is inside. Then an over-the-top-rope Battle Royale ocurs until only one man is left standing. that wrestler will earn the right to compete against the WPW champion in a later match at the Apple Butter Festival in Chapmanville on October 6th.

Another ongoing feud in WPW finds Adorable Danny Ray competing against local fan favorite Joey Nelson. Nelson split from his mentor after the Adorable One returned to his rule-breaking ways. The Prophet has found help in his cause by recruiting Rip Manson, a Cactus Jack wanna-be. Mason has shown that he will put his body in harm's way to give his team any advantage possible. Recent matches have seen Manson using a kendo stick to beat back Danny Ray and his partners.
