Closing 1999

After all the running around, this last bit? Let me record what happened rather than the odd things that I do each week. It how Malaysia and everyone in the world, the dawn of a new era.

Away from our activities and the quiet closing following a hectic year. Instead of an outing report, this page records an important events for the site.

This is a specially designed time clock for the countdown to the Millennium!

The crowd in Kuala Lumpur were unbelievable. This universal show on TV is breathtaking. Astro showed a "all over the world - City by City" scene of welcoming the new year as their time zone hit!

Malaysia's effort, while big, was handled by the private sector! Sort of let down compared to a national events.

Another scene here of the esplanade in Penang! They are notorious for the New year's day celebration each year! Then this millennium night must the greatest of them all!

Looking Back

It has been a fruitful year, not fantastic but up to expectations. Like all things in life, surprises comes rare and big. When we stumbled on an exciting lifestyle in 1997, we wanted it to sustain the tempo for 1999. So we went along each weekend without plan, but keeping a sharp eye on news and tips. Most of the trip turned out well. Some disappointments.

I am glad that the year and figure 1999 brought much inspiration to me to document this one year's activities as a sample of my lifestyle. Looking back I myself is also amazed at the commitment and desire to travel.

Of course as hindsight, I can now look back at the happier days, I being through. The time spent with my "Wanderbug" that had taken me to places. All good things do come to an end. I do not have extra space in my garden and the extra cash in my pocket to keep and maintain the Jalopy in eternity. Its gone! as the last millennium and also the pace of those wandering days

Reflection

#2. Seeing the odds, from the statistic, outing when planned, it is likely the effects diminished. We expect just too much! After all the efforts, what do expect to see? Some mundane scenes that we had encountered elsewhere.

On an ad hoc trip, we are constantly on a look out for new scenes. Familiar scenes were ignored and did not bother at all. It was then left to -Seen anything new lately? On that note - 1999 was a memorable year!
