Kemensah Waterfalls
|
We thought that we had covered most known waterfall in our tiny Selangor state, well, except the smaller ones! This Waterfall have been known to many but seen only by a few! The mountain bikers loved the 5 kilometers trek in from the entrance of the zoo Most time stop short of the mountain trail. At this point an operator had set up outdoor camp facilities, providing outward bound training and lodgings for those seeking hideaways. Its location? If you are facing the Quartz Ridge, it is broken by the deep valley at the Klang gate dam.
|
There is one running left and one running east. The picture shows the eastern end of the ridge of the east. |

Here is the signage to the camp and our caretaker was friendly enough to have his picture taken with Joyce! |

It was then the middle of the wet season. The good mountain bile trail was thing of the past. At many points, trees had fallen across the trail. A detour would mean walking on top of branches of the fallen trees over the edge of the ravine below. The trail? Deep cervices and narrow tiny gorges made by the flowing waters had replaced the hard surfaces. This is the 1.5 kilometers uphill trail. Then was left hand turn to move up the ridge. Here the track was superb. level broad and clean. Another more than a kilometer of easy walking.
|
| Down hill the story repeated itself. Since this stretch was much steeper, broad tracks made earlier remained, with the exception that it was marred by this very deep ravine right at the center. |

All the way down hill the roar of the waterfall could be heard. In fact this slope faces the waterfall directly, the thick foliage made it impossible to see through the valley. |

At
last, with the waterfall as close as the front of our
faces.
At long the last trees revealed nature closely guarded secret. |
| The
thick forest never give up. To get a shot of the whole
waterfall, we had to trek down the slope towards the
bottom of the waterfall. This is the usual view of a tall but "compressed" waterfall. |

| See
that tree in front of the waterfall and all the yellow
stuff sticking to its trunk! They are beautiful "apple" size fruits in full seasons. Did not appear edible otherwise the monkeys around there will have a field day. |
| The place is
strongly recommended for those in town seeking adventure. Less
than an hours drive from town center. The track is about an hour and half or 2, if you are slow. The ambience and the view? Rewarding! |
