Kero from Card Captor Sakura appears in an iPod parody.

My initial attempt to model the earphone cords came out quite messy--it coiled around in back of Kero, spiraled to the front, then went upwards to the earbuds. What you see here is slightly messy but much simplified version. Kero better be careful or he'll trip! ^_^

Someone is bound to ask, so here it is:

  • Apple uses the Myriad font for their iPod ads, and I used it here.
  • There is a slight difference in the "dark highlight" used between the iPod print and video ads. Mine is closer to the video version, complete with a shadow.
  • My recipe for the "dark highlight" (seen in the wings and tail end) using Photoshop:
    1. The bottom layer is normal.
    2. A middle layer is a copy, but filled with the color used in the background (orange in this case.) The blending mode is set to darken, and the opacity is 30%.
    3. A top layer is another copy, but filled with black. The blending mode is set to luminosity, and the opacity is 90%.
    4. Finally, the top and middle layers are grouped with the bottom layer.
  • Older iPod print ads show the clickwheel, newer ones don't. I like the older look so I used that.
  • The clickwheel circles are individual solid fill layers. Each has a 0% fill, a path in the mask, and this layer style: stroke with a size of 2, position is inside, and fill is a gray color (same color used in the iPod screen.)
I read somewhere that Kero is about 4-inches tall, which is the same height as the iPod.

I actually fully modeled the iPod in 3D, only to latter outline it in white for the iKero desktop. The iKero White desktop was completed latter.

This is a little experiment in making the colors look how they should on Windows monitors (I work on a Mac). The night sky background *should* appear more purple than blue. I hope this works. O_o

Atashi and Anata are the main characters of "A City with No People", a series of philosophical (!!) picture books which Chi reads in Chobits. Aren't they cute? ^_^

I initially wanted to pose Atashi and Anata in similar positions to the picture of Chi and the Black Chi bound together--look at Chobits galleries here and there on the Web and you'll find that picture.

The crowns and ribbons are still there like in the Chi and the Black Chi picture, but the ribbons are more simplified. Also note the reverse clothing coloring--just like in the Chi and the Black Chi picture!

I then had "artists block". O_o

Eventually it hit me... the small wishing star! Instead of joining Atashi and Anata's hands with a ribbon, like with the Chi and the Black Chi picture, their hands are joined with wishing star--which is again more appropriate to picture book. The starry night sky was added and is more appropriate to the picture book than the bed with Chi and the Black Chi.

The background stars are grey, not yellow or gold like in the series, to make the central wishing star stand out more.

Unlike the wishing sequence in the series, Atashi's eyes are open because of the image's text--you can't see with your eyes closed. ;-)

I really liked how the Chobits logo was done in the 2003 calendar. It seemed more appropriate than the standard one, perhaps because it looked more like a computer motherboard with solder point and trace lines. Anyhow, I made a more cartoony 3D version of it with more depth. See my largest desktop for a good look at it. ^_^

Cerberus, from Card Captor Sakura, is the guardian beast of the Book of Clow. Here we see Cero about to devour a stack of steaming hot pancakes--one of Sakura's specialties. Doesn't he look happy? :-)

All of this is happening in Sakura's kitchen (everyone else has left for the day, leaving Cero and Sakura alone.) You'll notice the star theme which represents Sakura's star staff, so this scene takes place during the second season.

Cero's source of power and magic symbol is the sun, hence the winged logo in the corner.

I did this desktop because Cero is just so cute and... and... orange! ;-)
