Oz fell backwards as the bullet lodged deep into his shoulder.
Willow stared in absolute horror and amazement. Then as the realization set
in, she dropped to her knees at his side.
His eyes were squeezed shut in pain. Then she began to cry out his name.
"Oz....... Oz, Oz, Oz."
Giles tried to pull her away from him, but she shook him off. "Willow......I
must help him." he cried.
Willow cradled Oz in her hands. Despite the dark red color of his shirt, the
blood spread quickly and was easily visible from the gaping hole in
shoulder. Giles moved around him and examined the wound. Then he looked up
and around for the source of the gunshot. He saw nothing.
Then he looked back down at Oz. Giles knew that a werewolf was able to heal
quickly from any wound, but he first had to pull out the bullet. Giles stuck
his fingers deep into the gushing hole and felt for it. He pulled gently and
Willow looked away.
Giles pulled the bullet out and wiped it off. Willow looked and drew in a
sharp breath.
The bullet was silver.
Giles cursed and hung his head. Oz opened his eyes and stared at Willow. She
knew what was going to happen. Oz was going to slowly die as the silver
poison crept through him.
She felt the tears well up inside her. "What, what's wrong Willow?" he
gasped. "Nothing,.... you're going to be fine" she whispered through her
tears. Willow wanted his last minutes to be as happy as possible.
Oz took a deep breath and grasped her hand. Giles knew that this was a time
to leave them alone together. He stood and hurried into his office.
Oz looked deep unto Willow's eyes and told her that he loved her. Then he
shut his eyes and his hand went limp. Willow's hand trembled and she
struggled to hold his hand. She let go in a burst of sobs that Giles heard
through the thin walls of his apartment.
He had been looking frantically through an old musty book on werewolves,
trying to find anything that might help Oz. The only thing that was at least
a small amount helpful was a book that said "if the tears of the werewolves'
true love falls on the poisoned werewolf, he will rise and be cured."
Giles watched intently as Willow wept and held Oz tightly in her arms. Her
tears fell directly on to his face and chest and yet nothing happened. Giles
hung his head and began to move toward Willow and her fallen love.
Just then, Willow gasped and uttered a cry of relief and happiness. Giles
eyes widened as the form of the bloody teenager sat up and blinked.
"How......." Willow said in an obvious state of confusion and blinding
amazement. "Willow" Oz gasped.
"It was your tears" Giles informed Willow. "They cured him." Giles paused
and waited for the notion to sink in. "The tears of the one true love can
awaken the beast and return him to his human form.........forever"
Giles paused again "You're no longer a werewolf...................
