Rebirth

Dirt flew everywhere as a single hand clawed at it, pushing it away from an ever-widening hole in the grave. Grunts were forced from their body as they worked, and a sigh of satisfaction rang out as the hole was finally big enough to fit through.

The person heaved their body up and out of the cold and dank grave and fell in a heap of exhaustion beside it.

"Jeez, I thought I'd never get out of there!" Willow puffed, looking around the cemetery. She sat alone for a moment, thinking about how she had died and how she was not dead any longer. "I'll need to ask Giles about that. But first..." She managed to stand up, which was no easy task considering she'd been stuck in a small, cramped space for hours, and walked over to Spike's grave.

Thumping on the headstone, she yelled to the dirt covering the grave, "Get your cute ass out of that grave or I'm coming in there!" Then waited, smiling.

Very faintly, she heard dirt moving. And then all of a sudden, A hand shot up and grabbed her leg. Willow shrieked and fell backwards, landing on her butt with a thump. Spike's head popped out of the dirt, a nasty smile on his face.

"That was so not funny, Mister!" Willow glared at him.

Spike laughed, "Yes it was, luv." He hoisted himself out of the grave and sat down beside her on the grass. "So, tell me how we are alive, and here, yet we died not half a day ago?"

Willow shrugged, shaking her head, "I have no idea, but if you'll help me get Angel, we'll go find Giles?"

"Won't that be bloody hilarious, to see their faces when we show up on their doorstep, alive, looking like we do?" Spike chukled, then coughed as he inhaled a stray piece of soil.

Willow snickered, then patted him on the back, using him to lever herself into a standing position once again. She walked over to Angel's grave then turned and looked at Spike with an expression that said, 'Get your ass over here and help me dig up your sire'. He sighed.

They worked for about an hour when they hit something solid. "Bingo!" cried Willow, a triumphant smile on her face.

Spike used his vampiric strength to open the coffin lid and peered into it. Angel was lying there, a grimace on his face, most likely because he had just been showered with dirt and bugs.

"That's just gross," Angel said, cracking an eye open. Willow giggled from the top of the grave and Spike smiled.

"Come on, Angel, get up!" Willow urged him. Spike climbed out of the grave, allowing Angel to sit up and make attempts at standing. "Hard isn't it?" Willow said, nodding in sympathy.

Once Angel was out of the grave, they all sat down on the grass in a circle. "So how are we here?" Angel asked both Willow and Spike, "I mean, I---killed you---and then when I regained my soul, I killed myself. Is that possible?" He stumbled over the last part as guilt washed over him.

Spike shook his head, "No bloody clue, mate, but don't go getting all broody 'cause no one actually blames you for killing us."

Willow nodded her head in agreement, "It was Angelus, not you. Plus, I don't mind."

Both Spike and Angel looked at her funny as she said the last part.

Willow blushed, "I mean, I don't mind you killed me because I came back! If I hadn't of come back I would have--um--been very mad!" She finished the sentence with a toss of her dirty red hair.

Angel laughed, "Sure Willow. So how about we go see Giles?"

"What do you think their reaction will be?" Willow nibbled anxiously on her bottom lip. Spike watched with dark eyes. Willow saw this and smiled a slow, sensuous smile and licked her lips.

Angel watched them for a second and then rolled his eyes, "Okay you two, do I need a hose?"

Spike growled, "Bugger off, you're just jealous 'cause you can't get none."

"Okay, okay! Enough! We are going to see Giles and if you fight anymore I'll smack you both!" Willow told them in a dominant voice. Both Angel and Spike had to look away as promising thoughts ran through their minds as she said that. Willow sighed and rolled her eyes then began walking towards Giles' house, not even turning to see if Spike and Angel were following.
