friendship

-------------------------------------------------

Willow was sitting in the park bench reliving the past few days.
It felt that the gang no longer needed her. There was little demon
activity and even vampires numbers where down; though that could be
because Spike was helping them and he put the fear of God into them.
It was discovered that, even though he could not arm the living, he
could hurt demons. And she had to admit he wasn't so bad once you got
to know him, she would even go as far as to say he was her friend.
But that still didn't help the fact that she didn't feel she was
needed. After Oz had left, she had moped around and wallowed in
self-pity, but after a while she had come to the realization that she
didn't love him as much as she thought she did. Plus, Buffy had
Riley, Xander had Anya, even Giles had a girlfriend! And as much
friendship as Spike could provide it didn't change the fact that she
still felt un-needed. <Maybe Angel, Cordelia and Doyle could use
my help>.

"Do you like the stars? The stars sing to me. Miss Edith said you
were the one. Will you help me?"

<Oh shit!!!> Willow looked up with a
half-stunned/half-scared expression on her face as Drusilla sat down
beside her on the bench. <Oh shit! I don't have a cross or a stake
or anything.>

"Um. h-help y-you wi-with what?" Willow asked fearfully. Even
though it seemed Drusilla didn't have any intention of hurting her,
she didn't know what the insane vampiress wanted from her.

"I want to be good. Daddy always said I was bad, and I tried real
hard to be good but he always said I was bad. And Miss Edith said you
would help me be good."

While Drusilla was rambling Willow had scooted closer to the end
of the bench, thinking that she could possibly get away. Willow had
no such luck; before she was even at the end of the bench Drusilla
grabbed her arm. It wasn't a painful grip, but the vampiress could
make it one without much effort, so Willow wisely made a decision to
stay where she was.

"Willow please I need your help. You are the only one."

Willow was surprised to say the least. Drusilla looked normal when
she said that, but what was even more surprising, it looked like
there were tears in her eyes before she slipped back into insaness.

Drusilla looked like a cross between a wounded puppy and a hopeful
child. There was no way Willow could say no to her. A part of her
mind screamed to her that this was crazy, that Drusilla was a demon
and she had to get away now, but the expression she had seen in
Drusilla's eyes when she was 'sane' had been too much for her. It was
a pleading look that said 'if you don't help me no one will', and she
had never been able to turn her back on someone who needed her.

"Okay Drusilla, I will help you; but you have too many enemies.
It's not safe to stay here."

"That is why we must go away from here. Spikey has a house in New
Orleans that he never liked, so he doesn't use it. We will go there."

A week later

Willow walked up the pathway to Giles' house; when it had become
their new 'headquarters', he had said they didn't have to knock.
Willow had been uncomfortable walking right in at first, but after a
while she had grown so used to it that she barely thought about it
anymore. Right now, her mind was going over tonight's plan once
again. First, she had to go talk to them all, and then she would head
up to Angel's old mansion, where she had installed Drusilla. After
Angel was sent to hell all the vampires had seemed to have an
aversion to it, and Buffy never went there. She had told Giles it
held too many bad memories and he hadn't made her patrol around it
anymore.

--------------------------------------------------

When Willow got to the living room she called attention to herself
and began telling them what she had to do.

"Um guys I have something to say," Willow looked around at her
friends. Buffy and Riley where siting on the couch snuggled up in
each other's arms, Xander was sitting on an armchair with Anya in his
lap and Giles was in another chair, reading a book and drinking a cup
of coffee. Spike was leaning against the wall when she came in but
was know making his way over to her side. He put his arm around her
and said. "So love, you decided to finally tell your friends we where
shagging?" Spike got that mischievous twinkle in his eye, which he
usually got while playing around.

Buffy was a little confused; she understood that this was a joke,
but she wondered when Willow and Spike had become close enough to
make this kind of joke. Spike just put his arm back where it was,
while Anya blurted out the first thing that popped into her head.

"You mean you guys have been fucking and you never told us?"

Willow sighed and rolled her eyes saying "Me and Spike have not
been sleeping together, Anya; it was a joke. But I do have something
important to tell you. I'm leaving to live with my grandmother for a
few months."

"Wow Wills, um when you leaving?"

"Tonight."

"Oh God Wills! I'm going to miss you so much!" Xander got up from
where he was sitting and gave her a big hug. Buffy felt left out and
came to join in.

"Well, Willow, I do wish we had known of this earlier. We could
have had a...a. farewell party for you. But we will all miss you
terribly. And I do hope you'll write," Giles wasn't used to getting
choked up so he excused himself before he broke down and blubbered
like a baby.

"So, how much longer do we have with our favorite Willster?"

"I'm sorry Xand, but I'm leaving in a few hours and I still need
to pack, so I guess I should leave now. I wish I could've told you
before, but I only decided to leave tonight."

Nobody seemed to have anything to say to that. Xander, Buffy and
Giles (who had come back after composing himself) seemed happy and
sad: they knew how much she loved her grandmother, but they were
still sad she was going away. Neither Anya nor Riley seemed to really
care. But Spike had a reaction she wasn't expecting: he walked out of
the room and slammed the door behind him.

--------------------------------------------------

*Half an hour later at Angels mansion*

"Okay Dru, we're all set. I've got all the bags in the car, Miss
Edith in the front seat, blood in the cooler, and my snacks in
another one." <I couldn't put them in the same, that would be so
gross.>

Drusilla wasn't as bad as Willow would have thought. She had
accepted all the conditions Willow had put, one of the most important
being that, while living with Willow, she was not allowed to drink
from people, even if she didn't kill them. She was also afraid of
being left alone; it was a fear she developed after Angelus had
became Angel. As a result, she slept in Willow's arms and would
probably continue to do so until she was positive that Willow would
not leave her.

Drusilla's possession included a few witchcraft books that were
very rare and a crystal that was used in very powerful spells.
Drusilla had given her the crystal and said she would teach her how
to control her powers. She had also said that Willow had great
potential in becoming a priestess. It had only taken Willow a day to
decipher what Drusilla says and could now probably have a normal
conversation. Willow was still a little nervous being around Drusilla
but that was understandable and Drusilla didn't blame her.
