WestFiction- "Never Too Far" by Vicky

She sobbed, hugging him close. He caressed her face softly, looking into her eyes, fighting against the tears. He leaned over to kiss her but something held him back "not here" she whispered, he looked down for a while.

A sad song ended, and they walked out. The loud music was, now, a whisper to them. She hugged him again, before melt their lips together, it was the sweetest kiss in the world, not a millions of moments together were as amazing as this kiss, the last one.

He kissed her neck softly "we can't do this, you know it" she said sadly "I know...but I love you too much" she smiled "I love you too"

The night ended, they didnt want to break that wonderfull moment...but it was time to leave.

The car stopped in front of her house "this is it" she whispered, holding back the tears "I guess" he answered feeling his heart die slowly "I..." she stared but he placed a finger on her lips "please, don't say a word" she nodded, he was right, this wasnt a moment for words, she took his hand in hers "Goodbye" she whispered before get out of the car leaving him with a broken heart.

He watched her, she was walking slowly while wipped the bitter tears from her eyes, he sighed, and hoped that time would stop that huge pain on his chest...

The next morning, she woke up really early, today was a new day, a really painfull one...but she couldn't take it back...if only she could, she would have never say goodbye to him...but now was late.

He knocked the door "come in!" he heard a not so cheerfull voice say, he opened the door...and there she was...looking gorgeous, in that white wedding dress, shining more than the sun, but still, he could see the sadness in her eyes "Hi" he whispered not believing that someone could look so perfect and be so unhappy at the same time. "hi" she walked towards him "what are you doing here?" he sighed "I don't know..." he sat down, while she took a last look on the mirror "Now...this is really the end, isn't it?" he said sadly, she nodded. Another knock on the door "Are you ready Steph?" she sighed "I'll be there in a minute" he hugged her tight "Don't go" he whispered between tears "I'm going to be here forever...my heart will stay with you, but...this ain't the time for us to be together" she wipped a tear from her eye "I have to go now" he kissed her "I love you" "I love you too Shane" she said before leave.

5 years later.

She walked around the town, buying some stuff she needed, while she walked back home, she saw a dark haired guy, looking at her weirdly, she kept walking as if she did not see him stare and walked away, feeling scared she walked faster. "excuse me" she heard the guy say, that voice, that sweet but strong voice...it was so familiar..but it couldnt be him...after all this time.

Steph turned around, it was him, still as good looking as always, smiling widely, she smiled back at him "Hello" she said softly, he took a deep breath "I thought I would never see you again" Shane said smiling, even thought he was crying "oh God Shane!" she said happily before hug him really really tight.

They walked together, hand in hand, like in the old times, smiling at the people passing by. "Where have you been all this time? I've called you too many times, but you never answered" Shane closed his eyes, it was still too painfull "I left...I didn't want to be around, the night after you got married I left and i haven't come back..until a few days ago, I didn't want to make it hard for you..and me" she sighed "It have been so hard...I often wondered where were you...i really wanted to see you again" He smiled "that doesn't matter now...cause I'm back" he leaned over to kiss her, and still the magic was there...she felt tickles in her whole body and that funny feeling inside. She broke the kiss "Don't forget I am still married Shane" he looked down "I know." Steph hugged him "why don't you divorce?" she looked up, but her smile fadded "what?" "Yeah, that's what you have to do!" Shane smiled and caressed her face "And we'll be together my angel" Steph looked down again "I can't Shane" He felt as if his heart stopped beating "why?" he whispered "Well...I tried...but its not possible, cause we...well..." "what is it sweetie?" he asked softly "I have a kid." Shane frozed, that wasn't the answer he wanted to hear "And I talked it with him...and he is right, that kid needs a mom and a dad, not a mom a dad...and a step mom and dad...so, we decided to stay together...and im going to keep that promese" Shane's heart broke "oh" is all he could say, he saw all his dreams fading away...

In the memories I'll find solace

They met after that day, every day in the same place, the used to talk most of the times, other times they used to go to his house and do what their hearts wanted to do...

One day Steph was about to leave when, her husband walked in "Hello honey" he said happily "Uh...hi! what are you doing here?" he sat on the couch "I...have good news" she sat next to him "tell me" she sighed "We're moving!" he said happily "What???" Steph yelled "Yeah! we are moving to the States! my boss want me to take his place over there!! isnt it great?? We'll have a huge house, and 2 cars and lots of money!" she couldn't believe it, she wanted to run away and stay with Shane and pray that all this would be a nightmare "No its not" she said "why not? it's the perfect chance to get out of this stupid place" he said turning on the tv "No. Im not going and my son isn't going either...we can't leave, our family our friends are all here!" and shane is here...she added silently "Oh come on! it will be fun!" he sat next to her and tried to hug her "don't get close to me" "sweetie...we're leavin', end of the story" he yelled, scaring Steph "Im not leaving...and my son isn't leaving" she repeated "Are you forgeting is my son aswell??" he raised his voice even more "I dont give a damn! I will stay with my child here!" she yelled and runned to their room, he followed her "what are you doing???" he yelled "Im outta here!" she took a bag and stared to put all her clothes and their kid's clothes "you CAN'T leave me" he said "oh really? watch me then!" she said taking the baby who was playing not knowing what was happening around him "Steph...don't go please!" he was running after her, she took the keys of the car "I'm sorry Steve...this is it. Goodbye" she said before leave that house...forever.

She stopped the car in front of the little house. Shane was standing there "shane!" she yelled. He saw her crying and all he could do was hug her so tight "shhh calm down angel, you will be ok...its ok" he said softly, wondering what could have happened...

6 months later.

She opened her eyes slowly, feeling the sun on her face she smiled,then turned to hug tight the guy next to her. He hugged her back happily "morning" he said kissing her "hey love" she said, she looked at her hand smiling...the old ring was gone, instead there was another ring with a diamont in the middle. He kissed her neck softly "cute ring huh?" she kissed him "It is the most amazing thing in the world, I love you" he smiled "I love you more" he hugged her again, silently thanking God for helping him to find, again, his true love, and prayed so she wouldn't go again.
