I DON'T EVER WANNA SEE YOU AGAIN by Lajla
-
“Coming!”
– Shane yelled when his door-bell rang one morning while he was still in
bed with his girlfriend Anna.
He put on his dressing-down and gave Anna a kiss on the cheek. She looked
so peaceful sleeping. ‘God, I love her!’, he thought. -
“Mr
Filan?” – the postman said when Shane opened the door. -
“Yes.” -
“Here
you go.” -
“Thank
you.” - Shane took the envelope from the postman and closed the door. He
sat down and looked at the
envelope in his hand. -
“Funny,
no address.” – he said out loud. – “Oh well. . . .” – he
opened it and pulled out a white piece of paper with
a familiar hand righting, but that thought soon slipped his mind. He
started reading the letter. . . . Early
one morning while you were asleep “Shane,
I’m sorry you have to find out this way, but trust me, I had no choice.
I won’t say my name, even though it will all come out in time. It’s
about Anna. She doesn’t love you anymore, but she doesn’t have the
heart to tell you that. She thinks it would ruin you. And believe me, I
care about you, but I have to think of myself, too. Anna and I love each
other and have been secretly seeing each other for 4 months now.” –
Shane quietly gasped. Was this a joke? Was someone playing a joke on him?
If they were, it wasn’t very funny. He continued reading the letter, but
he couldn’t really concentrate. All he could think about was that Anna
was cheating on him. – “I know you’ll be hurt, but please
understand. We love each other and want to spend the rest of our lives
together. We wanted to tell you the truth so many times, but each time
Anna decided it was better not to, because she didn’t want to hurt you.
She doesn’t know I wrote this letter, so don’t blame her. Please, it
honestly wasn’t her idea. It isn’t our fault we fell in love!” –
Shane was shocked, but he continued reading it. The fact that the hand
righting was familiar to him made him think harder where did he see a word
‘love’ written like that before. The letter ‘l’ was a capital
letter, even though it wasn’t the beginning of the sentence, and the
curve at the end of the letter ‘e’ was kinda weird. He knew he saw
that somewhere before, but where? – “You remember all those times you
were telling us how much you love her and how her touch makes you feel
like you can do anything? Well, I didn’t really understand what you were
saying. . . .until I felt it myself. So,
I only hope you won’t judge us, but this is something we have to do in
order to be happy. You have to believe me, Shane, I never, EVER meant to
hurt you. You’re like a brother to me. We’ve been through so much
together, and I understand that in one hand, it may not be fair of me to
break your heart like this, but on the other hand, we have to do this. We
want nothing more than to be able to enjoy in our love freely. So, I hope
you’ll understand, and won’t shut us out of your life. Remember we
both care about you. Please, Shane, at least try to be happy for us.” I
don't ever wanna see you again Shane
leaned back on the chair. ‘What the hell was that?’, he asked himself.
Anna was cheating on him. And with a good friend of his. He started
thinking who could it be. All sorts of names went through his head when he
remembered his band mates. It had to be one of them! ‘Who is it?
Nicky?’, he said to himself, ‘No, he would never cheat on Georgina.
Mark? I don’t think he would do that to me, he’s not that kind of a
person. Maybe it was Bryan? What the hell am I say, he just became a
father! The only one left is Kian. But no, we know each other since we
were 12, it couldn’t be him. So, who is it?’ He looked towards the
bedroom, got up and started walking towards it. ‘Only one way to find
out.’, he said to himself, as he entered the room.
He
looked at Anna. She looked like an angel sleeping. How could he hate her?
He couldn’t. All he felt for her was love. An unconditional love, that
would always burn inside of his heart. He
slowly laid down on the bed next to her, careful that he doesn’t wake
her up. -
“Why
are you doing this to me?” – he whispered. – “I thought everything
was doing great for the two of us.
You never told me you were unhappy with me.” – Shane could feel a
single tear falling down his cheek. He didn’t make any effort to wipe it
off. – “I love you, baby. Why do you have to hurt me?” Anna
started waking up. Shane quickly sat on the bed, and turned his back to
her. Anna opened her eyes and saw him. It
took me a minute to wake up and see -
“Hey
baby. You’re up already.” – when he didn’t answer her, she
continued. - “What’s wrong, sweetie?” – she
woke up a bit and looked at Shane. -
“This.”
– he handed her the letter, she read the first few lines and she exactly
what it was. ‘Damn it! I told
him not to send him anything!’, she thought. -
“Shane,
I can explain this.” -
“I
don’t think there’s anything to explain, Anna. You cheated on me for
the past 4 months. And like that wasn’t
enough, it was someone I know! Who is it, Anna?” – he asked her,
looking at her with his beautiful hazel-green eyes, which were full of
pain right now.. -
“I
don’t think it matters, Shane. . . .” – she started saying when
Shane interrupted her. -
“It
doesn’t matter?? It doesn’t matter??? You fucking broke my heart, and
now you’re telling me it doesn’t
matter??” – Anna was getting scared. She never saw him like this
before. But then again, she never did something as horrible as this
before. – “It matters, Anna!” – he lowered his voice when he saw
the fear in her eyes. But his anger was still there. – “And you know
why it matters? Because I loved you with all my heart, and you betrayed
me! You went behind my back! What am I supposed to do? Forget it? What?
You tell me, Anna. What am I supposed to do?” -
“I.
. . .I don’t know. . . .Shane, I’m sorry, I really am. You gotta
believe me, I never planned this to happen! I’m
so sorry. . . .” -
“Yeah,
well sorry isn’t gonna do it this time. Y’know, maybe I would’ve
even excepted it if only you told me. But
I found out from a bloody letter, Anna!” – he took the letter and
crumpled it. I
don't ever wanna see you again -
“I
wanted to tell you, Shane, I honestly did. But I was waiting for the right
moment.” – Anna was crying. -
“And
what would the right moment be? Maybe when we were making love? Or maybe
when I was telling you
how much I love you and how much you mean to me? Or maybe when you told me
you don’t want anybody else except me? What would be the right moment,
Anna?” – he could hear his voice trembling. But he didn’t want to
cry in front of her. He didn’t want her to see how much she hurt him. -
“Shane,
don’t say that. . . .” -
“Why
the hell shouldn’t I?? At night you were in my bed, making love to me,
and then you would go to your
other lover and make love to him! Isn’t that right?? Now I finally know
where did you go every morning when you sneaked out of my house, leaving
me a bloody note! That’s always the easiest, isn’t it? Just ran
away!” – he looked at her. She looked so fragile crying like that, and
he felt the urge to hug her, but he knew he couldn’t. She hurt him. She
hurt him deeply, and his pride was crushed. He couldn’t just walk over
it. Not this time. – “Anna, please, just tell me who he is. I think
you owe me that much.” – he said, lowering his voice and sighting. -
“I
can’t, Shane, I’m sorry. I just can’t. I can only tell you that
he’s not in the band with you.” – she couldn’t even
look him in the eye. She had to lie, for his sake. He
took a deep breath, and then got up. He started walking towards the
bathroom. -
“I
want you out of here when I come out.” – he said coldly as he closed
the door, leaving Anna crying. She
soon realized he really meant it, and she quickly put her clothes on and
left his house, still crying. . . . And
you say you loved me ……
