THE AFFAIR

Chapter 1

“You may now kiss the bride,” Shane leant forward and kissed Cathy, they pulled away as all the guests clapped. Shane and Cathy had only known each other for 6 months when they got engaged and there was an 8 year age difference, but they didn’t care they got married 6 months after they got engaged, they were really in love.

About an hour later Cathy walked over to her best friend Sarah, she hugged her,

“Oh my god, I can’t believe your married, you the girl who said she wanted to become a nun when she was 13, because she fancied someone who didn’t fancy her,”

Cathy laughed as she said, “I always thought you would get married before me,” she turned and looked at Shane he was talking to Nicky & G, they had been married for 5 years, he smiled at her, Sarah followed her gaze, Nicky turned around and smiled at her, ‘He’s gorgeous, why are all the gorgeous ones married’ she thought to herself, ‘It’s not fair’

“I’ll speak to you later” Cathy said bringing Sarah out of her thought, Cathy walked over to Shane he kissed her, and with that Sarah & Cathy’s favourite song came on O Town ‘All Or Nothing’ she turned and smiled at Sarah, Shane took Cathy’s arm and they walked out onto the dance floor and danced. Sarah felt a tap on her shoulder she turned round to see Kian standing there, her and Kian had been like best friends since Cathy and Shane met,

“I felt sorry for you,” he said smiling, “You want to dance?”

“Sure,” Kian took her hand and they danced, she turned and looked at Nicky & G who were dancing she noticed Nicky looking at her he looked down as he saw her looking back, once the song ended, Cathy walked back over to Sarah,

“You like Nicky, don’t you,”

“How did you guess?”

“Well I’m not your best friend for nothing!” Cathy said which made Sarah laugh, “What is it you like about him?

“I don’t know,” she said watching Nicky talking to the other 4, “I think it’s those gorgeous blue eyes,”

Cathy laughed, “You and blue eyes,”

“And his sexy voice and gorgeous accent,” Cathy laughed and she walked back over to her husband and they spent the rest of the night dancing.

Sarah woke up the next morning, Cathy & Shane was leaving in 2 hours and they all stayed at a hotel the night before, she got up and had a shower. When she finished she picked up her phone and room keys and left and walked down to the restaurant to meet the others, as she walked out her room, Nicky walked up behind her

“Hiya,” he said, “Good sleep?”

“Morning and no, that is the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on!”

He smiled and said

“I can’t believe they’re married, our 2 best friends”

“Yeah, she always used to say she’ll probably never get married and I’ll get married before, she was slightly wrong about that,” she said sighing, they looked at each other and walked down to the restaurant. As soon as Sarah walked in Cathy came over and hugged her,

“Morning, Oh my god, I can’t believe I’m going away to the Dominican Republic for a month, I’m leaving you on your own,”

“It doesn’t bother me, I’ve got Kian,” she laughed

About an hour later they were all outside the hotel saying goodbye to Shane & Cathy before they left to go away on their Honeymoon, Cathy and Sarah hugged again,

“I’ll send you a postcard,” Cathy said, “If I have time,”

Sarah laughed, “I’ve slept in the same house as you 2, I perfectly doubt you’ll have time,” Cathy laughed she turned round and got into the car waiting for her,

“Bye mate,” Nicky said before Shane got into the car, Shane turned and hugged him,

“See ya,” he got into the car. Everyone waved as the car turned out of the hotel car park, Kian went over to Sarah

“You want a lift home,” he asked

“Yes please,” she answered, they went back into the hotel and got their stuff, they got into Kian’s car and left.

Chapter 2

It had been a week since they had left, Sarah had been very bored, all she did was work. One night she was TV when the phone rang, she picked it up and said, “Hello,”

“Hiya Sarah, It’s Kian, you want to come out for a drink with me & Nicky?”

“Erm… yeah, Ok,”

“Brill, I’ll come and pick you up at 8,”

“Ok, see ya then, Bye,” she hung up and looked at her watch 7:45, she went and changed out of the clothes she had worn to work, she out on some jeans and a top. At exactly 8, Kian knocked at the door, that was the one thing Kian was good at and that was time keeping, he was always on time, and never early and definitely never late, she grabbed her phone and keys and left, when they got to the bar, Nicky to had just got there, he smiled at them,

“Isn’t G coming?” Kian asked

“No, she has to go away for the next 3 weeks on business and she’s leaving early tomorrow, she wanted an early night,”

“Ok, just us 3 then,” Kian said, Nicky smiled at Sarah as he walked past her.

Sarah decided she better go at 12, she had to work the next day, but she was happy as she had the 2 months off because the office block she worked as a secretary, was being refurbished and was being closed for a while. Nicky also thought it would be good time to leave, he wanted to see G before she left the next day, Kian took Sarah home, and then went home himself.

Chapter 3

The next evening, Sarah got home from work and kicked off her shoes and promised herself to buy new ones before she went back to work. She spent the rest of that week on her own. Then one night she decided to go out and rent out a film, she picked up her keys & phone and left.

Once she got there she looked at the scary films, and chose 2 of her favourite, ‘The Hole’ & ‘What Lies Beneath’

“Hiya,” she heard a voice behind her, she turned around to see Nicky standing there,

“Hi,”

“The Hole, that’s my favourite film, that’s the film I was planning to rent,”

“Oh,” she laughed, “Mine too, tell you what do you want to come back to mine and watch it?”

“Sure,” he said smiling,

She went and got the films and they left, they talked all the way back to hers, once they got there she put the videos down on the table,

“Do you want a drink?” she asked

“I’ve got some actually,” he pulled out a 2 bottles of wine, “You want some of this,”

“Sure,” she smiled, they went into her living room, she put on the film and he poured them both a glass of wine, she took the glass and sat next to him, she turned off the lights as the film started, they didn’t watch the film much they spent most of it talking, and drinking, till they noticed they’d drunk both of the bottles, they had got quite drunk, they laughed as he fell off the chair and sat on the floor, she laid down on the chair, and he turned to look at her,

“I’m really drunk,” she said laughing,

“Yeah, I’m really pissed,” he said laughing

“Same thing,” she laughed, he turned and looked at her

“How comes you haven’t got a boyfriend, I think you’re a really good looking girl,”

“I don’t know,” she shrugged, she turned and looked him she stopped smiling and looked into his eyes, she loved his eyes, they were bright blue and gorgeous, he put his hand on her stomach and moved it down and put his hand up her top, he moved his hand up over her stomach and leant up towards her and kissed her softly, he then moved his hands down and started to undo her jeans, she pushed him away,

“What about G?”

“What about her?” he moved towards her and kissed her more, she put her arms around him and pulled him closer, he pulled away, and looked towards the stairs, he turned back towards her, she stood up, she felt a bit dizzy, took his hand and led him upstairs, they walked into her room and he pushed her onto the bed, they carried on kissing and she started to unbutton his shirt.

Chapter 4

The next morning, Nicky woke up his head really hurt, he looked at Sarah who was still asleep and kissed her, she woke up and grabbed her head,

“Agh, my heads throbbing,”

“Mine too,” he said, she looked at him, she looked worried, “ What? Why do you look so worried?”

“We shouldn’t have done that, Nicky your married, what if she finds out?”

“Well I won’t tell her, if you don’t,”

“Yeah, ok,” she turned away

“Look, we are actually going through a bit a bit of a rough patch, she turns away, when I go to kiss her, she never wants to have sex anymore, I feel… like…I’m falling out of love with her…”

Sarah turned back and looked at him, she put her hand on his face

“…and I’m falling in love with you, but you obviously don’t feel the same way,” she smiled at him and leant forward and kissed him,

“Yeah, I do,” she said smiling.

After that, they had a shower and he left checking no one was watching.

Chapter 5

After there little affair had been going on for 3 weeks, and the night before G came back and when Cathy & Shane got back, they were talking,

“Nicky, if you love me and want us to be together, wouldn’t it help if you left G?”

“Yeah, I don’t know how I’m going to tell her, couldn’t we wait a little while keep this our little secret, just till I think about how I’m going to tell her, Ok?”

“Ok,”

The next day Sarah heard a knock at the door, she opened it very happy to see Cathy standing there,

“OH MY GOD,” she screamed Cathy hugged her, “Oh my god you’re so tanned, it’s so unfair!!!”

“Thank you, anything interesting happen while I was away?”

“No,” Sarah said, Cathy looked at her,

“You’re lying, I can tell,”

“No I’m not!”

“Sarah, what’s going on, I can tell something’s happened, whats going on?”

“Well…Nicky’s having an affair…”

“What, oh my god who wi… hang on with you isn’t it?”

“Well,”

“Sarah?”

“Ok, yeah, don’t tell anyone please Cathy, you’re my best friend please don’t tell anyone, not even Shane!!”

“Don’t worry, I won’t, well I’ll try not to tell Shane, but if I accidentally tell him, it’s not my fault,”

“Ok, whatever just keep it a secret,”

“Ok, what is he going to do about G?”

“Well, he is going to tell her, when he’s ready,”

“Well obviously he’s going to keep you waiting for months,”

“He better not.”

Chapter 6

It had been 2 months since the affair had started and the sneaking round was getting hard for them. Sarah heard a knock at the door; she opened it and was very happy to see Nicky, standing there

“Hiya babe,” he walked in and sat down on her sofa, she sat next to him and he pushed her down onto the chair and kissed her, they soon heard a knock at the door,

“Shit, that’s Kian, he said he was coming round today,”

“Oh, leave it pretend your not here,” he carried on kissing her, he moved down over her face and kissed her neck, she heard a tapping and looked over at the window,

“Bollocks,” she said as she saw Kian at the window looking at her looking very shocked, Nicky looked up and followed her gaze

“Oh fuck,” he said standing up and going to the door and letting Kian in.

“You 2 have a lot of explaining to do,” Kian said as he walked in,

“Look Kian, it’s not what it seems, it’s not just some affair…” Nicky said

“Well what is it, are you just 2 VERY good friends,”

“No, Kian, we’re in love,”

“What, your in love? Erm… Nicky have you forgotten that you’re married???”

“No, I’m planning on telling her when the time is right,”

“And when’s that,”

“I don’t now, soon, I can’t pinpoint exactly when!”

“Well you better do it soon or I will kill you, Sarah is my best friend and you better not be playing her around!!”

“Believe me Ki, I’m not,” he turned and looked at Sarah and kissed her,

“Oh god,” Kian said as he walked out the door.

The next month had been hard for them, the sneaking around was harder than ever, one day Sarah got annoyed,

“FOR FUCK SAKE NICKY, ARE YOU EVER GOING TO TELL G???!!!” Nicky looked really worried as he said,

“Yeah, I’m going to I just don’t know when,”

“How about tonight?”

“Tonight? What? When tonight?”

“How about you go now,”

“Sarah, please not yet, I can’t, just wait a while!!”

“Wait, I’ve been waiting for the past 3 months, I can’t wait any longer!!!”

“Sarah please?”

“No Nicky, I’m not waiting any longer, you obviously do still love her, so there is no point in you being with me, it’s over, it’s been great but I’m not going to wait,”

“But Sarah…”

“No buts, I think you should leave,” Nicky looked at her he looked like he was going to cry, he took one last look at her before walking out the door, as the door shut, Sarah burst into tears.

Nicky walked home, he walked really slowly and started to cry and think, he decided he was going to tell G when he got home, he wanted Sarah and no one was going to stop him having her. He walked in his front door, he heard a noise from upstairs, he walked quietly upstairs and he heard a giggle come from his room, he opened the door and saw G, lying in bed, and next to her a bloke he had never seen before,

“Bugger,” she said as she saw him.

“What the...”

“Well that was one way of telling him,” the man said,

“Nicky… erm… I’ve been seeing Mike now for 6 months, I’ve been having an affair,” she turned to the man who smiled at her, Nicky started laughing

“Nix whats so funny?” he laughed even more and he shut the door and left the house.

Chapter 7

It had been a week since Sarah had seen Nicky; she heard a knock at the door she opened it to see Cathy there, she run past Sarah and grabbed her keys, she pulled Sarah’s arm and ran to her car, she started the car and drove out of Sarah’s drive,

“Hi, to you to Cathy, would you like to tell me whats going on?”

“Yeah, Hi, guess what?”

“What Cathy?”

“Last week Nicky went home and found G in bed with some man,”

“What?”

“He filed for divorce the other day and he’s back to work today,”

“Ok, so where are you taking me?”

“Your coming with me to see them all and plus Nicky & G were seeing their solicitors today,”

Sarah couldn’t help but smile. Once they got there she pulled Sarah into the building where Westlife were going to perform later that day, she pulled her into there dressing room and pushed her onto the sofa, Shane walked in shortly after and saw Cathy and kissed her,

“Hi Sarah,”

“Hi Shane,”

Kian, Mark & Bryan walked in shortly after, “Hiya Sarah,” they all said

“Yeah, Hi,”

“Nicky here yet, Shane?” asked Mark,

“Should be here any minute and with that the door opened and Nicky walked in, he saw Sarah and looked shocked, “Hi Sarah,”

“Hi,”

“Nix how did it go today,” Shane asked

“Alright, I get to keep mostly everything,”

“Great,”

“Not that I deserve it,”

“What? Why?” Shane asked he was slightly confused

“G wasn’t the only one to have an affair, I did to,”

Cathy & Kian looked at Sarah,

“What you had an affair,” Shane asked even more confused, Nicky nodded his head, “You had an affair and didn’t tell me!!”

“Why should I tell you?” Nicky laughed

“Well I am your best friend, who did know?”

“Kian,” Nicky said wishing he had told Shane

“And I did,” Cathy said

“You knew and didn’t tell me?”

“Sorry Shane I wanted to but I promised I wouldn’t”

“The only problem is, she left me just before I found out about G, and now she’ll never want me back and I love her and she doesn’t love me,” he sat down on the chair next to Sarah,

“What makes you think she doesn’t love you?” Sarah asked

“Does she?”

“Hold on you know too? Oh this gets better and better,” said Shane

“Shane mate does it really matter if I didn’t tell you if I was having an affair?”

“Well I am supposed to be your best mate, it would have been nice if you had told me!!” he said as he turned away

“Sarah, obviously now he’s not with G anymore, surely she wants him back?” Cathy asked

“Yeah, she does, she really loves him and wants him back,”

“Really?” asked Nicky

“Really,” just as Shane turned back, Nicky pulled Sarah close to him and kissed her passionately

“Ok, now I’m really confused, so Nicky has been having an affair, with Sarah and G was having an affair with some bloke?”

“Well Shay, you finally got it!!” Kian said sarcastically

“OH SHUT UP!!” he shouted

Sarah pulled away, “I love you Nicky,” she said looking into his bright blue eyes,

“I love you too,” he said as he looked into hers, “Have I ever told you how gorgeous your eyes are?”

“No,”

“Well they are, they’re so dark, I love them and I love you!”

He leant forward and kissed her passionately.
