THE WHOLE DEAL by Rae
"Smile." Mark said to Holly as they walked through the park. "I am." she protested. "Holly, if THAT's a smile, then I would like to see ur frown." "Sorry, I just haven't been feeling well lately." That was putting it lightly. She hadn't feeling well for a few days. She was soar and achy and for no reason. "What's wrong?" Mark asked concerned. "Nothin'...hey lets get on our bikes and finish the trail." Holly said eager to change the subject. Mark agreed and kissed the top of her head. "Wow this is a great workout." Mark yelled back to Holly as they rode the trail. She didn't answer. "Holly?" he stopped his bike and turned around. She was doubled over. "Holly, what's wrong." he asked running over to her. "Nothing, I just...." she began but she collapsed in his arms before she finish. "Holly?" he said. She didn't wake up. He always had his cell phone on hand and he called for help. ~~Hospital Mark and Holly's parents were in the waiting room. "Mr. and Mrs. Anderson?" the doctor asked. "Yes." Mr. Anderson replied. "Your daughter is sick, but were not exactly sure with what. We think it may be a form of cancer but we won't be sure until the test result come back." "Oh god, when will that be?" Mrs. Anderson said. "Soon, Mr. Anderson, soon." with that the doctor left. "Oh no," Mark said. "Why? Why Holly?"
They went in to see her. "Hey." Mark said. "Hi." she said weakly. "Oh, honey, u'll be alright." her mother said. Mark took her hand. "Listen to her, ur mother's never wrong." Holly smiled. The doctor entered the room. "Well, we have the results. Miss Anderson...Holly what u have is a form of Leukemia. Now before anything I want to say there in a surgery can have to help, it's dangerous and experimental but u should think about that as an option." the doctor went on but after that Holly didn't listen to him. The doctor finally left. Her and her parents cried and talked together. She decided to have the surgery. Her parents left the room to get some coffee. "Holly?" Mark said taking her hands. "Yea?" she asked sadly. "I want u to know I love u and that when u get over this, which u will, we'll be happy together." "Yea? Forever?" she smiled. "Of course, we can get married. Have the house with the white picket fence, the whole deal." "Oh, Mark I love u so much." she said as he kissed her forehead. ~~the day of the surgery. I love you's were flying around the room right before Holly was wheeled to surgery. "Mark," she said before she left. "I believe I'll take u up on that offer...the whole deal." she smiled then she was gone.
They waited for hours for a doctor. Finally he came. "Well,
we did all we could, but she didn't make it. I'm very sorry but she lost
so much blood and..." Mark feel to his knees. "Oh, god not Holly." he whispered. Tears streamed down his face. "She was supposed to be fine." her mother cried. "This wasn't supposed to happen to her, to me." Mark said. The funeral was as sad as it could be.
After everyone left the graveyard Mark went to Holly's grave. "You were supposed to take me up on that offer." he said pushing aside some soil and burying an envelope. Inside were two pictures one of Holly and himself and one of a house with a white picket fence. "The whole deal..." he set down the flowers and walked away.
