Chapter 11

"I Can't Do This"

Melody jumped down from the tree. 'It's too rude to call this witch stuff.'

Claire stared at the star-shaped (or an unknown shape made up of many triangles?) coin-like thing in her hand. She noticed the word 'time' on it. She wanted to try, but she thought of one thing suddenly...was it unfair for Tine? She hesitated.

'I remember you friend said that "Kian didn't say it's Tine"...' Melody read Claire's mind and reminded her by acting Jenny's voice.

Claire looked at Melody for a while, she smiled and asked. 'How old are you, Melody?'

'Sixteen.' Melody replied frowning.

'Have you ever been in love?' Claire continued her questions.

'Huh?'

'So you don't know what's LOVE!' Claire stated loudly. 'If you do, you'll know why I can't do this.'

Melody was shocked, 'Love?'

'Hey Melody, I got you!! You can't miss school again, go with me!!' Michala shouted, running to Melody and Claire's direction.

'So, whatever you want, I won't get this back. See ya!' Melody told Claire and then she ran to Michala. Claire could see that Michala slapped Melody's face playfully. And they ran to school together.

Claire stood up, she put the thing in her pocket and left the park. She found herself at home after 20 minutes. She took a bath and placed the magic thing on the dinning table.

There was nothing much on TV but Claire still watched it. The door bell rang when she was trying to bored herself. Claire answered the door and she could hardly speak.

'Hi Claire.' Tine said with a nervous smile. Claire said 'Hi' and let her get in. Claire and Tine sat down on the sofa, Claire turned off the TV.

'If I were the one who Kian really loves, I'd hide this forever..' Tine took out a envelope out of her handbag. She opened it and showed Claire. 'This is a letter Kian wrote after you rejected him. We found this under his pillow after he had left the hospital, he couldn't post this probably because he didn't know your home address.'

Tine handed it to Claire; Claire's hands were shivering.

Chapter 12

"Let's turn back time"

'Dear Claire,' Claire read the letter, 'There were times I thought that I was perfect. And as you know, I'm not. I used to think that I could date any girl I wanted, but not after you have rejected me. I don't know what was wrong with you at that night, I believe that you had your own vexations which I don't even have the right to know. I just want to tell you that I still wish you'll be my girl. I really love you. Nicky asked me whether I could make friends with you, I told him that I couldn't, because my heart prickles whenever I think of you, I don't know what will happen if I see you often (but as a friend).'

Tine gave Claire a tissue when she saw her in tears. And Claire read the last sentence.

'Perhaps you'll forget me soon, but you always live in my mind... Love, Kian.' Claire held back her tears and folded the letter and put it back into the envelope.

'And I think I have to tell you one more thing. Kian isn't dating anyone. Newspaper aren't always credence.' Tine told Claire.

'How...How do you know?'

' The reason is.. now I've become Kian's best mate.' Tine smiled.

Claire didn't know what to say next, Tine grabbed her hand and said 'Let's turn back time.'

Claire thought of the thing Melody had given her. She knew Tine didn't mean that magic stuff, she brought the thing with her. Then they got out of the house and took a taxi. Tine told a place which Claire didn't have a clue where it was.

'I searched in the records of hospital for your address. I've broken one of the rules because I did that for personal reason... But I think it's worthwhile.' Tine told Claire while the taxi was on its way.

Claire was obliged, she didn't know how to tell and she finally decided not to tell.

The taxi stopped, the two girls arrived.

Claire glanced around, she was surprised. 'I didn't know there's such a beautiful sea in this city.'

'There're a lot of things you still don't know.' Tine replied. 'So, wait for me and I'll help you to turn back time.' She walked off in a quick speed.

Claire didn't know what Tine was doing; all she could do was wait. She sat down on a big rock and rested her hands on her knees. The sea wind was blowing, which made her feel comfortable. Claire took the magic thing out and looked at it carefully. The thing slipped away from her hand when she noticed somebody was standing behind her.

Chapter 13

"It didn't change a thing"

Claire picked the thing up and put it back into her pocket, she knew it was Kian behind her. She turned around slowly.

Kian was there with a smiling face in tears.

She was about to say 'hi' but Kian’s question interrupted her. 'Do you love me?'

Claire knew she had to answer this question frankly so that this chance would not fade away. She had so many words she wanted to say, but at last she only uttered two words. 'I do.'

Kian held her in his arms after he got the perfect answer. Claire felt warm, and then she heard he whispered 'I love you, I love you....' Then he gave her a soft kiss.

Claire realized she didn't need to turn back time because time didn't change a thing, it didn't change their love to each other. She gently pulled him away, Kian was worry that she'd run away like the last time, he wanted to put his arms around her again but Claire pulled his hand away.

'Just a moment, I have to do one thing.' She got the 'time' coin-like thing in her hand again and was going to throw it into the sea. She changed her mind suddenly.

'Stop, I can't throw things into a beautiful sea...Can you wait for a moment?' She asked Kian. 'I'll not run away.'

Claire found a rubbish bin and she threw the stuff into it. She walked back to Kian with a smile of relief.

Kian smiled, too. He knew that happiness had just come to him.

'The ending is much better than I expected, Claire is a great person.' Melody said sitting on a branch of a tree, which was not far away from Kian and Claire.

'Well maybe that girl called Tine knows some magic, just like you.' Michala replied sitting on another branch of the same tree.

'I don't think so...Hey, you want an apple?'

'Sounds good.'

'Yeah take one.' Melody laughed and gave her an apple. 'And promise you won't take me back to school today.'
