PLEASE GIVE US ONE MORE CHANCE FOR LOVE

by Toni

Part 1

It's been almost 5 months since Marianne and Kian broke up.  Marianne felt she was left out of Kian's group and he never pays enough attention to her.  She's always left in their flat in Ireland watching their shows, concerts, and interviews.  She misses the real Kian to be in her arms caressing her and making her feel good after a long day at her work as a CEO in a large company.

Kian in return encases her in a tight hug when he returns home for a mere 3 months.  Yet, he's always out partying with his pals and still leaving her out of place.  His sweet kisses and sweet talks always beats the heart out of Marianne so she gives him another chance and another and another and another.  Until she got very fed up and just left.  Kian was out partying for the success of their new LP and got home 6:00am in the morning.  He found a letter sitting on top of the coffee table and weighed down by a silver ring.

Dear Kian,

I hope you had fun in your success party last night.  I'm not sure what time you'll get home but I really hope you can read this.

Honey, it's been three years since we started out this relationship, as friends.  I enjoyed every time we spent together even though they were a little short.  I love your company, the lads, some of the girls, your ol' pals here and some of your closest fans.  As for the attention, I have no problem…I still can bear with it.  But, honey, I hope you understand, I feel very out of place.  That's why I didn’t come to your party.  It's like Prom.  If you're unlucky to not get a partner, you'll suffer the horror of sitting at the balcony and throwing olives on the swimming pool below.  On my case, I have you but still I do not fit in.  You just disappear and then I see you dancing with another woman.  Well, you know me I don’t want to make a scene so I just pass it by.  It's not just once, twice, thrice, four times, five.  Are you planning to test my temper huh Egan?

Kian, I don’t know how to deal with that anymore.  I love you and I don’t want to hurt you.  But this had gone too far off hand.  I'm really sorry but it's over.  Just forget me and go on with your life.  Go find somebody else whom you can be with 24/7. Not like me, we just get together 6 months a year and 2 weeks per month.  I know I have some things I failed to give you…I'm sorry.

Love, you have done so much for me.  All the songs you've written for me, all the poems even the plays…thank you.  I promise one day, I'll going to do something for you in return.  But for the mean time, I think it's advisable for me to go away for a while and help you go on without me.

It's going to be a long time until I erase all your love and memories in my heart.  You mean the world to me, my love.  You're the longest and strongest relationship I had all my life.  You helped me through a lot of things.  I'm going to miss you Kian John Francis Egan…I love you…

                                                                        Love, Marianne

Tears started to drop on the delicate paper the letter was written on.  Some of Marianne's handwriting blotted with Kian's tears.  He slowly crumpled the paper and dropped on the sofa.  The ring fell on his lap.  "Our engagement ring," he thought.  Pictures and memories of their friendship and love flooded his mind.  He ran to see if she left any of her belongings upstairs.

He dashed to their room and found an empty closet and an empty study desk.  Neither a nail nor a strand of hair was left of her.  Her scent still lingers around the room like she just sprayed herself a whole bottle of Tommy Girl.  Kian just sank on the bed and cried.  "She's really gone!  My Lord, please no!" he cried on the pillow.  "What kind of a bull shit is this?  Damn it!  No!!!"

Part 2

Kian was truly devastated.  He hardly even ate a grain or drank a drop of water.  His alcohol rate was getting over the edge.  He was going through a major breakdown.  He talks to no one and tries to call Marianne all the time.  But it seems that she changed her SIM card and number.  He kept squeezing the ring she left and put it in a necklace.  Her face was still etched in his mind.  All the things they've done, still fresh like yesterday.

His birthday was approaching fast and still he's not in the mood to celebrate.  The lads especially Shane was getting worried about him and his health.  He came by one day and had a chat.

"Ei, mate," Shane greeted him.  "Still not over her, ain't you?"  He just shook his head and stared into space.  His once glittering blue eyes were now red from weeping.  "Well, you know, I loved Marianne too.  That was in high school.  She was my leading lady in our neighborhood play.  That's also when I first kissed a girl, and that's her.  She told me that…ahem…I'm good but she thinks you're better.  That's why she asked me to tell you she wants a date.  Man, she digs you from the start.  I think if you just open up on her more, she'll understand you want her to spend some time with you and apologize for your shortcomings.  I know she'll forgive you and I'm certain that another chance for love wouldn’t hurt."

"You mean it, Shane?" Kian asked with pleading eyes.

Shane took his friend's hands and held them tight.  "Yes, I do.  Just be yourself and tell her what you really feel.  She'll be dropping by your birthday party two weeks from now.  Good luck, Kian.  I know you can do it.  I have faith in you Egan."

"Thanks, mate," he said.  His face lit up and his smile returned.

Part 3

One week before his party, Kian decided to write Marianne a letter.  He got her address from her brother in Norway.  He told himself to tell the bare facts of his heart and mind.  Tell her all the feelings he has inside.

Dearest Marianne,

Love how are you doin'?  I hope you're fine.

Well, it's been a long time.  I missed your voice, your hair, your eyes, your touch, and your all.  Up until now, I'm still shocked of what happened.  I never knew I've done those things to you.  Boy, I must've been pretty cold.

Baby, I just wanted to say I'm sorry.  A very sincere apology.  I would understand if you wouldn’t forgive me, but I just want you to know my side.  I really don’t know what happened.  I thought you were okay with it.  But I guess I was wrong.  I should've taken Shane's advice not to take advantage of your kindness.  I mean I should've loved you more than you wanted me to.  But I think I cheated on you instead.  I'm sorry.

Well, I'll be waiting for your reply…if you want to hear from me still.  I heard from your brother that your will be coming to my party next week.  Great!  I'll see you there and we'll take for a while…as friends.

I think you don’t want to read anymore of my babbles.  So, I think this is goodbye…I love you forever…

                                                                        Love, Kian

Kian let out a sigh of letting go.  He mailed it and sat on the porch swing of their house.  He felt very light and happy of what he did.  Finally, he let it all out.  Inside he's just a little scared of talking to her on his very birthday, fast approaching April 29.

Part 4

"Happy birthday Kian!" everyone said.  Birthday boy 'lifer smiled slightly and went to chat with his guests.  Everyone he invited was present.  From Ronan and the other Boyzone lads to his ol' high school peers and even the former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell.  His whole family, management, everyone except his only true love…Marianne.

He sat on the couch by the window and stared to the stars.  It was raining outside.  "How bright they are tonight.  Funny, because it's raining torrents, " he thought.  "They're like Mara's eyes.  Sparkling once for the love of me, Kian Egan.  Now, lost, wasted, cheated.  Where is she now?  Where?  She didn’t reply to my message.  I guess she'll never come.  No.  Oh Egan!  Think straight!  Look on the positive side…if there is any positive side."

He was deep in thought when a female voice interrupted him.  "Something deep, Kian?"

"Huh?  Well, it's nothing it's just about Marianne," he replied without looking at the person who asked him.

"Well, what about Marianne," she asked again.  Her scent lingered under Kian's nose.

Kian looked down.  "I…I love her.  I just can't believe I let her go.  I…" he stopped.  He scratched his brow and thought, "Wait a minute.  Are my ears fooling me or that's Marianne?"

"Kian?  Are you still with me?" she said with a little chuckle.

He looked up and his eyes widened.  "Marianne?  You're here.  I…thought you wouldn’t come."

"Surprise Kian…I guess," Marianne slowly uttered.  She bit her lip and looked far away.

"Mara," Kin sweetly whispered, "What's the 'I guess' part for?"

She shook her head.  Tears idly fell on Mara's cheeks.  Kian immediately wiped them away.  "Nothing.  It's just I think you don’t want to see me again.  After what I did five months ago…I don’t have a face to reveal to you."

"No honey.  That's not true," Kian assured her.  "You're here with me.  You're showing me your beautiful face, gorgeous smile and marvelous eyes.  You don’t have to apologize anything.  I know it's my fault and I'm the one who owes an apology to you."

"Kian…thanks.  But I think I have a fault too," Mara explained drying her eyes.  "I was too loose on you that I didn’t think of what will happen to our relationship after some time.  I was naïve enough to not deciding on how I will be to you.  And I was too chicken to run away just in a snap without saying goodbye.  I'm sorry…"

"No problem about that," smiled Kian.  He gave Mara a tight hug and a kiss on the forehead.  "Just forget about what happened in the past. It's behind us now.  We're moving on with our lives.  Why not just start over?  If you give us another chance…"

Mara looked directly at Kian's eyes.  The blue ocean met the blue skies.  "Our relationship may change but," Mara inched closer, "our love didn’t," and they kissed.

Cupid made his mark again.  The 'kiss' deepened and became more passionate.  The loud music suddenly mellowed and the party people silenced.  They all focused on the reunited couple as they kissed on the couch by the windows.

The heavy rain slowly stopped and they all decided to take the party outside.  Kian led his former ex-girlfriend to a tree that has a very sentimental value for both of them.  He whispered, "Mara, remember this tree?"

"How could I forget?  This is where you gave me our engagement ring," she laughed lacing her fingers together.

"Well sweetheart," he took one hand and kissed the other, "I would like to give you something much more than that…"

"What's that?  The whole De Beers collection?" they both giggled.

Kian put his hand in his pocket and pulled out a velvet-lined box.  He opened it and knelt in front of Mara.  "Honey, will you…marry me?  I've been planning to ask you this a long time ago in Valentine's Day but you left before it.  So…" he cut off thinking of what to say next.

Out of the blue she answered, "Yes, I would love to be your wife.  It would be Kian-ific to be called Mrs. Egan."

"Really?" Kian cried as he slipped the sparkling ring on Mara's finger.  "Oh Jesus!  I love you so much Marianne!" he hugged her with all his might.  She did the same to him.

The other lads sneaked up behind the tree.  They all whistled as they caught the two kissing.  Shane jeered, "Finally, you proposed to her!  Congratulations!"

The party ended 6:00am.  Bryan, Mark and their ladies, Ebony and Christine slept in the guestrooms.  Shane and Dana went on home because of some family reasons.  Kian and Mara told each other that they missed sleeping in the same bedroom.  Even though he missed out on some of the nights, he always gives his return the night after.  They had a wild night and a very memorable one.

Part 5

Kian and Marianne got married when they were both 25 years old.  Mara told Kian to abide with the signed contract of the lads in BMG.  Amazingly, Kian was the only one left single by the contract ended.  Shane and Dana had a baby at age 21.  Mark and Ebony got married at 23.  Bryan and Christine had twins at 22.  Nicky and Jenny couldn’t wait for 25 so they married at 23.  Kian and Mara persisted on the deal and remained fiancés and no pregnancies for 5 years more.

They tied a knot at age 25 and had a baby girl six months after.  Mara was three months pregnant when the ceremony took place.  They named her Kiarra Maria Regine.  A year after, Mara conceived a boy whom they christened Kieran Marlon Patrick.  Then when Kieran was two years old, they had another baby girl named Marah Isabelle Patricia.

They were two perfect lovebirds who found themselves through the twist and turns of life.  They were meant to be in love with each other forever…
