Survivors> chapter 2
"Why
is Kian taking so long? You know lads, we shouldn't have allowed him to go
in the forest. There could be wild animals roaming around in there."
Mark tells them as he turns the barbecued eel in the middle of the fire.
Bryan reached down to place another batch of fish over the fire. "He
could be coming back in a minute or so. We shouldn't be worried, he can
take care of himself." Bryan mentioned going back to the beach to
wash his hands. Mark looks at Shane. "Do
you really think there is something behind those trees Shane? Do you think
Kian is right?" Shane
shrugged and continued tying some huge palm leaves between his knees. "We
can only hope there is food and fresh water somewhere and he found out
about it." Shane placed the tied leaves and arranged them inside
their makeshift shelter. Nicky gets up and looks around the beach. He then
looks down at Mark and patted him on the shoulder. "I'm
going to get a swim. Tell Shane that if Kian doesn't come back in another
hour we are going after the lad." Mark
nods and got back to his barbecue. Nicky took off his pants and left his
boxers on passing by Bryan who was all wet and shivering. "Ocean's
cold Nicky, be careful with the jelly fishes." "Well
I was hoping you would have scared them away." Bryan gave him a look.
Nicky continued. "With that loose shorts you have, it's a good thing
no fish mistook your waggling as bait." Bryan smiled and gave him a
wild smirk then stuck out his tongue. He pulled up the waistband of his
loose shorts and proceeded back to the camp. Nicky silently laughed as he
got slowly in the water. "Smells
nice eh?" Bryan comments sitting beside Mark. Suddenly his hand jerks
towards the cooking food, which Mark immediately pulled away. "Are
you nuts? Do you know how hot that is? We are in the middle of nowhere and
we can't afford to lose your hand over some barbecued eels." Bryan
reached back and licked his fingers. Mark gave him a disgusted look and
turned away from him. "Don't
you think they're already looking for you?" Kymie suddenly asks not
even understand why she had to. She finally has Kian in front of her and
she's thinking about him leaving so soon. "They
might be. They might follow me too if they miss me." Kymie
gave out a smile and turned to her friends who were busy arguing about
catching fishes and fishing rods. "Will
you tell them you met us?" "Of
course. I do think now that we know there are others like us stranded in
this island that we should all stick together." Kian gave her another
cute smile and was trying to touch the back of her hand. Kymie looked into
his eyes and felt hypnotized. He began to move closer to her, roaming his
eyes throughout her face. She's so beautiful, he thought. He now wonders
what it will be like to kiss her lips. Kymie then couldn't move. She feels
like a pound of rock is holding her down on this large log they're sitting
on. Swallowing a lump in her throat she got ready as she felt him move
closer to her. She feels so wonderful right now that she finally met him.
She gently sighed and closed her eyes as Kian's lips almost touched her
lips. "Err
fellas?" says a familiar voice. The familiar voice of Mitzie. "I
am sorry to interrupt but we have a situation going around here."
Both looked at her then turned their attention towards three shrieking
women prancing and chasing a small boar around the beach. Kian smiled then
looked at Kymie. Mitzie folded her arms on her chest and watched their
friends make a fool out of themselves. She shook her head and sighed.
Kymie patted her on the arm and followed Kian as he joined catching the
running food. The pig squeals and runs as fast as its feet could hold.
Kian instructed the four girls to place themselves around the thing as he
makes a big leap to catch it with his arms. He got a hold of it and
bruised his shoulder and got a cut on his arm because of its small, sharp
tusks. Kymie was shocked to see him bleeding. "Oh my God! Kian!"
Immediately she got the rope they have from the cargoes and helped Kian
tie its legs. Mitzie came around after seeing the boar squealing for
mercy. Billie went to her and comforted her with an arm around her
shoulder. "Sorry
kiddo but you are the only one who doesn't eat meat around here. We'll
just have to feed you with fish or if God decides to hand us down some
chicken." Mitzie looks at Billie and receives a cheery smirk from
her. Kian was panting hard and said. "Mitzie
doesn't like meat? Are you girls sure you can take care of catching
fish?" It was Nady who spoke. "Yeah
well we caught some really good fishes yesterday. I think we'll be
fine." Kian nods and asks Kymie if she wants to go with her to kill
the boar somewhere far away from their camp. Kymie swallows a lump in her
throat and gently nods taking a shiny cleaver inside one of the suitcases.
It was hidden inside a huge cover of clothes. "You
girls are lucky enough to find so many cargoes from your crash. We don't
even have enough clothes to wear." The
girls all looked at each other upon hearing Westlife not having much
clothes to wear. The fact that they are just on the other side of the
island. Kian could swear hearing giggles and small shrieks. He glanced at
Kymie who was laughing silently as they walk away from the campfire. "Are
you girls going to be fine here after I leave?" He suddenly asks her.
Kymie smiles to him. "Of
course. We have survived being here before you came. Besides you said so
yourself that now you've found people also stranded, a merge would be
made." Kian immediately gave out a wide smile putting down the
helpless boar on the rocks then takes the cleaver from Kymie. "A
merge would be a great idea. Turn around and put your hands on your
ears." He told her which she gladly obeyed to do. But even though he
was gentlemanly enough to let her be spared with such cruelty to animals.
She found herself closing her eyes upon hearing the boar squeal in pain
then the continuous chopping. Kian didn't ask her to but she slowly urged
herself to come around and see what has happened. The boar was now dead
and there was blood everywhere. She saw him slicing the boar open, peeling
off its skin then washes its flesh with saltwater. She stepped back a bit
and watched him do a good job with future food for both camps. She licked
her lips as her eyes wasted its way on his flexing muscles. His blonde
hair swaying on his forehead, the heat of the sun making it more yellow.
She could not believe this is actually Kian Egan in front of her, the Kian
Egan who had just killed a wild boar. The Kian Egan who is famous for his
moody bits and great shy voice. The man whom she has been fantasizing
since she first saw him and the band. The Kian Egan who is now looking at
her with his deep blue sea eyes. "Kymie?"
she hears him say her name. She shook away her dreams and gave him a
beautiful smile. He smiles back and said. "You have such a beautiful
smile." "Bryan!
Mark!" Nicky shouted out to the two lads playing around with their
SOS signal. Shane was just finishing tying the coconut leaves when the two
lads approached tucking their arms under their armpits. "What's
the craic?" Mark asks killing the horseflies that were tripping his
bare legs. Bryan stood in front of them like a big genie. "Kian
has been gone so long. He could have met an accident. We must do
something." "You
mean follow him in the forest? What if we get lost and he comes back here
seeing no one?" Bryan asks shoving his hands inside his pockets. "Let's
just hope that doesn't happen then right?" "What
if it does?" Nicky
shot a glance at Bryan. "Will you stop being so pessimistic!" "I'm
not being pessimistic, I'm just pointing out reality. We can get lost in
there and who know he might come around soon. We've just lost him for a
few hours, it's not like he's been there for days. Who knows he might even
have food with him." Shane
placed a hand on Nicky's shoulder. "The lad's right Nicky. We can
still give Kian a few more hours till we declare him missing in
action." Nicky
sighed and looked at all of them. He folded his arms on his chest and
nodded in agreement. "All right. Fine. We'll wait for him." "Hey
lads! Look at what I've found!" All
lads turned around to find Kian walking towards them with a big something
on his shoulder. "What
the fuck does he have on his shoulder?" Shane comments dropping
everything he has and went ahead with the rest to meet his friend.
"Why are you smiling like you got lucky and got laid within the hours
you were gone?" Shane asks as he finally saw what he has brought
them. "Where the hell did you get this?" Kian
couldn't contain his excitement. He knows that if he starts talking that
everything will spill out from his mouth. He kept giving them such a wide
grin. "Will
you stop grinning and tell us where you've been?! We have been worried
about you!" Bryan shouted at him. Kian finally gave in and said. "All
right. All right. I got this from five girls who are stranded on the other
side of the island." The four lads gave him strange looks. "It's
true! I'm not making this up! I did meet five girls when I went in there.
This boar has been eyeing their territory since yesterday, me and four
other girls caught this and killed it." Still no reaction emanated
from the four. "Okay, what am I to do so you lads would believe
me?" All
lads looked at each other and tried to figure out how they're going to let
their sick friend let go of such hallucinations. "Lads,
I am telling the truth here!" Kian said seeing Shane look at Nicky
and whisper a few words to him, the same goes with Bryan and Mark who then
turned to Nicky and Shane. Then finally Nicky spoke. "All
right. Fine. We believe you." "No
you don't! I'm not crazy here fellas!" "The
hell you're not!" starts Shane. Bryan and Mark were already cutting
up bits and pieces of the meat they will be having for lunch along with
their previous barbecue. "How can we possibly believe that you went
in there and met five stranded ladies on the other side of the island and
then killed a boar leaving with them half of the kill?" Shane stopped
and thought for a while. He then looked at Nicky and said. "You know
what I think he's right." Nicky rolled his eyes and pouted. "That's
rubbish?" He then watches Mark and Bryan beat around the bush with
the meat putting them in sticks over the fire. Shane looks at Kian and
patted him on the shoulder. "I
think the only way to prove all of this is to introduce us to those
ladies." Sounds of agreement came from the two grown men cooking
their food. "I
never thought you would mention it Shane!" Bryan yells at him gnawing
his way with a slight raw meat. Shane smiles then nodded looking at Kian
who was chuckling while he takes off his shirt. Nicky was shocked to see
him but not because of his bruises but because he had them treated. He
pointed them to Shane. "Now
that is what I call undeniable truth. I just hope this is not caused by
anything voodooish. There can be parts in this island that can be?" "Oh
stop it Shane! We'll be paying the girls a visit tomorrow morning, is that
okay with you?" "Pretty
fine to me!" Mark yells to them. "Fine
with me too!" Bryan follows. "Will
you get your butt down from there?!" Mitzie calls to Nady who was
doing a strange sightseeing from on top of a coconut tree. Nady smiled
down to them and placed a hand over her forehead, shielding her eyes from
the bright sun. "The
ocean looks wonderful from here!" she yells down to them. Billie and
Kymie have just come out of a swim when they saw Mitzie staring up.
Following her stare they saw Nady clinging herself onto a coconut tree.
Billie immediately ran towards Mitzie and shouted on top of her lungs. "Get
your pretty little ass down from there Nady! What are you trying to do?
Kill yourself! Get down from there!" Nady
rolls her eyes and held tight to the trunk. "What the hell is the
matter with you people? I have been climbing trees since I was a
toddler!" "Well
you are not a toddler anymore Nady! You are old enough to have
toddlers!" Kymie shouts back to her. Pril came around with cooked
barbecues. She looked up to see Nady still up there. "Hey!
While you're there! Can you at least throw down some coconuts! We can sure
use a lot of it for lunch!" "Okay!"
Pril smiled after seeing Nady takes some coconuts and started throwing
them down. She saw the others giving her shocked looks. "What?
We do need the coconuts." Mitzie
approached her and made Pril turn towards the camp. She walked with her to
arrange their food. Kymie and Billie stayed behind and were now surveying
some coconut leaves that Nady could jump onto. But that would be their
last option. "One
last time Nady! Get your butt down now!" Nady
rolls her eyes and stopped messing around. She threw one last coconut and
started inching her self down the harsh trunk. "All right! All right!
I'm coming down!" Billie
and Kymie guided Nady down and checked her for any bruises. The tree is
not very smooth to climb on. They don't want to take any risks of getting
infected lacerations. "I'm
fine you two. Will you stop fidgeting about? I'm hungry." "Then
come on and let's join those two." All
five girls dined together around their campfire. They passed around their
share of coconut, drinking its juice and finally eating its white meat.
Mitzie chewed down her fish and watched as the others eat in silent.
Somehow she just had to break the silence. "Was
there in any way that we can meet Westlife? You guys remember that they
are just on the other side of the island right?" She looked at her
friends who were looking at each other in between bites. Kymie then spoke.
"Kian
said they might come here tomorrow morning. I think he still has to
convince them that he met us, explaining we're also stranded." They
caught Billie smiling. "I wonder what they're wearing right now. Kian
said they don't have much clothes with their wreck." Everyone
went dead silent after that last bit. All minds went on dream gears. They
have all been feasting on the lads' physical features since they first
came out in the music world. Well it is not only the voice and their music
that makes five young Irish men likable right? In Billie's world, Mark
would be wearing nothing but leaves she chuckled on that thought. And the
same goes to Pril, who is now picturing Bryan walking down the beach,
smiling towards her, with nothing but a small leaf to hide his equipment.
Giving her those cheeky smiles that only she can understand. And then
comes Kymie, who got lucky with a snake that made Kian rescue her
intimately. The next thing she is anticipating is to be able to get on
with him, if that is possible. Next would be Nady, the Nicky fanatic who
always ends up dreaming of a make out session with Nicky. In any place at
any time. And how can we forget sweet Mitzie who never stops complaining
about Shane wearing too much clothes. The leaf itself is far too modest.
