King of Kent 690-725 Wihtred was the son of King Egbert of Kent, a nd succeeded to that throne himself in 690. At that time the Kentish crown wa s divided, but by 694, Wihtred and single-handedly re-united the kingdom. His reign was fairly long and fairly peaceful, and he died in 725.
