How to build dirt jumps

step1: Tools for the job are probably more important than knowledge of how to build the jumps.

- A spade is essential
- A wheelbarrow can be very handy when building bigger jumps.
- A rake for rocky soil.

Step2: A nice clay based soil would be a beautiful thing, Turfs also come high on our list of desirable soils ( This means their is grass growing on top and it comes up in big chunks) This will save lots of time building.

Step3: There are many varieties of jumps, if there are logs and large rocks available these can be put into your trails. Lips can be added to small features to save time pilling mud up.

Step4: pile your mud up to form the rough shape and size that you want, becareful not to leave big gaps if using turfs these will form ruts. Dig the dirt for the take off and landing between the next double or jump. The jump will automatically become twice as high.

Step5: Pat the soil down firmly with the back of the spade. Ride it through if it feels wright leave it, if it feels wrong shave the lip to your preference.
