Inachus and Apis Tholi
These two tholi are two of the strangest volcanoes on Io. Unlike most volcanoes
on Io which erupt basaltic or ultramafic lavas, these volcanoes are believed
to represent a class of volcano that erupts slica-rich lavas. Tholi on Io are
charachterized by short, pancake-shaped mounds with a central caldera. Galileo
in I33 would image Inachus Tholus at 9 m/pixel and both tholi at 80 m/pixel.
