These are paintings or CGI showing Io from its orbit or in space.
To protect the painters, most of these do not have thumbnails but instead
just links to the painters web page for the image. Eventually, I
will have some of my own drawings here. These images are the property
of the artists, whether they are mine, others on my server, or those I
am linking to on this page. Please treat them as such. Do

on Io
This image shows a plume erupting on Io. In
this north polar scene, Jupiter's north pole is up.

Io's
Night Glow
This digital painting shows the auroras that light
up Io's night sky. Green glows indicate that the atmosphere
is collapsing. The red glows are due to the interaction between
Io's atmosphere and the Io Plasma Torus. The red glow is always
near the pole that faces the center of the Plasma torus. The
blue glows are Io's plumes excited by the Io fluxtube.
