Siouxsie and the Banshees fanclub.jpg

The FILE started in Autumn '79 writen by Billy Houlston, just after the split in order to let people know what was going to happen next with the group. It started off with newsletters and each time you would get an 'instalment' which was the history of the Banshees sent out in chapters (usually 2-4 sheets of A4 printed paper some of which can also be found reproduced in the 'Scrapbook'). A white card A4 folder was also sent out to keep the info sheets in which had this Sioux logo on (left) in the top right hand corner. Various black / white 10"x8" and A5 photos were included with the sheets and rare merchandise was available to buy. In 1980, it was to be renamed 'Happy House' and was to be given a new look. Instead the title became a song and the new look was called 'THE FILE' - Phase Two, which consisted of an A5 fanzine, of which it stayed until 1991, when the FILE ceased. This guide to THE FILE is in by no way complete, and if anyone has items that they think should be included, please email me.

The above is an A5 photo that has the groups signatures printed on the back

All the above 10"x8" photo cards and the A5 photo were sent out with the File newsletter and instalments. (i still have to scan the remaining photos - soon to be added)

Also, an incomplete (and incorrect) import discograhy sheet was included and a photocopy of the film poster for 'Cry of The Banshee' (again, repro's of these are in the 'Scrapbook'). There are sheets with photocopy photos on and printed signatures as above (on the right) which was included with a newsletter, New Year 1979, it is A4. Badges were first given out in 1979 (not all badges contained the words 'The File' so it is hard to know which ones were sent out and which are unofficial badges.
