Ella was born in 1864 as Princess Elisabeth of Hessen-Darmstadt. Her parents are Grand Duke Ludwig IV. of Hessen-Darmstadt and Princess Alice of England. She was a granddaughter of Queen Victoria I. of England and older sister of Tsarina Alexandra. More photos | |||||||||||||||||
| In 1884 she married Grand Duke Sergej of Russia (1857-1905), son of Tsar Alexander II. of Russia and Princess Marie of Hessen-Darmstadt. They didn't have any children. | |||||||||||||||||
| In 1918 Ella was executed like her younger sister Alix, the Tsarina Alexandra with her family. | |||||||||||||||||
