Detailed History
Three Ford Transit minibuses with diesel engines were acquired second-hand by Southern Vectis, one of which featured Robin Hood bodywork, the other two featuring the more usual Carlyle bodywork:
  • B922BON was originally on loan to Southern Vectis from 26 February 1985. It entered service in a Silver with Red & Blue Stripes livery as number [922]. In June 1985 it was purchased by Southern Vectis. The driver's sliding cab door was removed and panelled over, it was also re-painted into the "Wanderer" livery of caribbean blue, french blue and diamond white with a black skirt before re-entering service. In August 1985 it was re-numbered to [249].
  • A980XOK was transferred to Southern Vectis in February 1988 and used in the Wadham Self-Drive fleet as number [40] in Red "Hydrobus" livery of Sunburst Red, Monarch Red and Diamond White with a black skirt. It was used occasionally on stage-carriage service. This minibus had a hand-operated sliding entrance door instead of the usual power-operated folding type.
It was originally a Carlyle demonstrator new to Pilgrim Coaches of Southampton in April 1984 operating as their number [M80].
In April 1987 it passed to Hampshire Bus operating as their number [M80].
In October 1987 it passed to Solent Blue Line operating as their number [M80].
  • C220XRU - which featured Robin Hood bodywork - was transferred to Southern Vectis in April 1988. In June 1988 it entered service as number [281] on the Ventnor Town Service still in the Badger Vectis livery.
It was new to Hampshire Bus in December 1985 operating as their number [20].
In October 1987 it passed to Solent Blue Line operating as their number [20].
In late 1987 it was repainted White with Yellow & Green stripes and transferred to Badger Vectis of Bournemouth operating as their number [34].

From 5 October 1987, for a few days, B922BON [249] went on loan to The Royal York Hotel of Ryde.

In November 1987 B922BON [249] was withdrawn.

In December 1988 A980XOK [40] was reseated to B16F, using the seats from C253SDL.

At an unknown date A980XOK [40] was withdrawn.

In July 1989 C220XRU [281] was withdrawn.
