Detailed History
Three Dennis Dart's with Plaxton Pointer B40F (+17 standees) bodywork and Cummins 6BT diesel engines were acquired second-hand by Southern Vectis in October 2006 from Brighton & Hove.

M73CYJ / M76CYJ & M78CYJ were new to Brighton Corporation Transport in April 1995 and were numbered [73] / [76] and [78] respectively with them.

On 20 May 1997 M73CYJ [73] / M76CYJ [76] & M78CYJ [78] were transferred to Brighton & Hove being numbered [73] / [76] and [78] respectively. They were repainted into Brighton & Hove livery during:
June 1997: M73CYJ [73] at East Lancs & M78CYJ [78] at Kent Coachworks,
July 1997: M76CYJ [76] at Hampshire Body & Paint.

During October 2006 M73CYJ [73] / M76CYJ [76] & M78CYJ [78] were acquired by Southern Vectis (note that some sources quote that they were acquired via. Wilts & Dorset but this is incorrect), all three were fitted with Hanover Dot Matrix Destination Screens. They were numbered [900] / [901] & [902] respectively by Southern Vectis. Prior to arriving on the Island, they were repainted into Southern Vectis 2006 Two-Tone Green livery at Barton Park, arriving on the Isle of Wight:
by 27 October 2006: M76CYJ [901] & M78CYJ [902]
on 31 October 2006: M73CYJ [900]

Based at Ryde Depot, they entered service:
On 1 November 2006: M78CYJ [902]
On 4 November 2006: M76CYJ [901]
On (or by) 10 November 2006: M73CYJ [900]

On (or by) 17 November 2006 they were named:
M73CYJ [900] named "Cowleaze Chine"
[per Marc Morgan-Huws]
M76CYJ [901] named "Brambles Chine"
[per Marc Morgan-Huws]
M78CYJ [902] named "Luccombe Chine"
[per Marc Morgan-Huws]

By 14 December 2006 all three of M73CYJ [900] / M76CYJ [901] & M78CYJ [902] had operational destination screens - these were non-operational when they entered service (they could not be programmed) and Slipboards were temporarily used to display the service number and destination. [per Gavin Rowney]
