Detailed History
Six Iveco 59-12's, with Mellor bodywork, were purchased second-hand from Stagecoach Devon by Southern Vectis in May 2001.
  • K702UTT [255] / K713UTT [256] & K724UTT [257] were new to Thames Transit in February/March 1993 and operated with them as numbers [2001] / [2012] & [2032] respectively. In May 1993 K724UTT went on loan to Bayline (Devon) and returned to Thames Transit during November 1993. [per Ralf Adams]
    All three passed to Bayline (Devon) in June 1994 as [2001] / June 1995 as [2012] & November 1994 as [2023] respectively. [per Ralf Adams]
    In 1996, and following the takeover by Stagecoach Devon, they were renumbered to [334] / [336] & [350] respectively. [per Peter J. Relf]
    These buses were originally dual-doored as B26D but, following a serious accident that occured at Paignton Bus Station involving centre doors, were converted to B29F by Stagecoach Devon around 1996/97.

    Following acquisition by Southern Vectis in May 2001, they were converted to B27F, repainted into Oxford Blue & (Yellow, Orange & Red) Stripes livery and entered service during July 2001. [per Gavin Rowney]
  • K823WFJ [258] & K804WFJ [259] were new to Bayline (Devon) in June/July 1993 and operated as numbers [2074] & [2080] respectively.
    In 1996, and following the takeover by Stagecoach Devon, they were renumbered to [355] & [361] respectively.

    In May 2001 it passed to Southern Vectis. It was repainted into White & Oxford Blue Skirt livery with advertisement for "Sainsbury's" and entered service, as number [260], on 2 July 2001. [per Gavin Rowney]

In May 2002 L445FFR [260] had the "Your Sainsbury's Local ShopperBus" vinyls removed and replaced with "In 2 Town" vinyls. [per Gavin Rowney]

By 1 October 2002 L445FFR [260] had the "In 2 Town" vinyls removed. [per Gavin Rowney]

During November 2002 L445FFR [260] was repainted into Oxford Blue & (Yellow, Orange & Red) Stripes livery. [per Jeff Lyons]

On 5 February 2005 all of K702UTT [255] / K713UTT [256] / K724UTT [257] / K823WFJ [258] / K804WFJ [259] & L445FFR [260] were withdrawn from service. [per Ian Rivett]

Subsequent History

K702UTT [255]:

  • On 6 February 2005 it was moved to Ryde Depot and stored.
  • During May 2005 it was donated to the Asia Bus Appeal in conjunction with the Tsunami Disaster of 26 December 2004. [per Marc Morgan Huws]

K713UTT [256]:

  • On 6 February 2005 it was moved to Ryde Depot and stored.

  • On 6 February 2005 it was moved to Ryde Depot and stored.

  • On 6 February 2005 it was moved to Ryde Depot and stored.

  • On 6 February 2005 it was moved to Ryde Depot and stored.

L445FFR [260] / [060]:

  • On 6 February 2005 it was moved to Ryde Depot and stored.
    During April 2005 it was converted to B6F as an Immobile Office and used as such at Newport Depot until early 2007.

    On 20 September 2006 it was renumbered to [060]. [per Marc Morgan Huws]
    By 20 March 2007 it was re-seated to B27F and re-licensed as a PCV for use as a relief on the Ventnor-Whitwell shuttle service 6 during the Whitwell Road closure. [per Marc Morgan Huws]
