Detailed History
Four Iveco 59-12's with Marshall bodywork were bought new by Southern Vectis in 1997 which were delivered in Mushroom and Dark Green livery. Apart from featuring a narrower radiator grille at the front they were identical to the previous batch delivered in 1996.

By October 2000 P246VDL [246] carried a rear-end advertisement for "Isle of Wight Steam Railway". [per Gavin Rowney]

By October 2000 P247VDL [247] carried a rear-end ContraVision advertisement for the "Isle of Wight County Press". [per Gavin Rowney]

During August 2001 P244VDL [244] / P245VDL [245] / P246VDL [246] & P247VDL [247] were fitted with Day-glow destination blinds by 1 / 15 / 16 & 24 August respectively. [per Gavin Rowney]

They were repainted into Oxford Blue & (Yellow, Orange & Red) Stripes livery in:
December 2001: P246VDL [246]

May 2002: P247VDL [247] still carrying the rear-end ContraVision advertisement for the "Isle of Wight County Press". [per Jeff Lyons]
June 2002: P245VDL [245] at the same time receiveing replacement registration number plates. [per Gavin Rowney]

During December 2002 P247VDL [247] had the rear-end ContraVision advertisement for the "Isle of Wight County Press" removed and repainted Oxford Blue. [per Gavin Rowney]

By 2 April 2003 P244VDL [244] carried a rear-end advertisement for "Isle of Wight Steam Railway". [per Paul Budden]

By 22 March 2005 all of P244VDL [244] / P245VDL [245] / P246VDL [246] & P247VDL [247] were transferred to reserve fleet. [per Marc Morgan Huws]

Between 15 June 2005 and late July 2005 (after 18 July 2005) P247VDL [247] went on loan to Solent Blue Line as a staff transport vehicle for the Trafalgar 200 / International Festival of the Seas commemoration. By 31 August 2005 P246VDL [246] had been repainted Pink (as the replacement Pink Bus for F283SDL [283]). [per Gavin Rowney]
By 12 September 2005 "Crime and Disorder Partnership" vinyls had been applied to the Pink livery, internally a CCTV system was installed during August 2005. [per Marc Morgan Huws]

During December 2005 (by 19 December 2005) P245VDL [245] & P247VDL [247] were withdrawn from service. [per Marc Morgan Huws]

During January 2006 (by 8 January 2006) P244VDL [244] was withdrawn from service. [per Gavin Rowney]

During early 2006 P246VDL [246] was allocated to the Private Hire Fleet.

During August 2006 P246VDL [246] had the "Crime and Disorder Partnership" vinyls removed which were replaced with "West Wight Bus & Coach Co" Fleetname vinyls. [per Marc Morgan Huws]

From 29 December 2006 until 22 January 2007 P246VDL [246] went On Loan to Solent Blue Line as a temporary Travel Shop at Eastleigh. [per Phil Stockley / Jonathan Kitcher]

By 22 January 2007 P246VDL [246] had been repainted into Lime Green base, it was completed into 2006 Two-Tone Green livery on 12 February 2007 and (by 13 February 2007) was named "Black Rock Ledge". [per Phil Stockley / Jonathan Kitcher / Marc Morgan Huws]

Subsequent History

P244VDL [244]:

  • On 13 January 2006 it was transferred to Solent Blue Line operating as their [244]. [per Marc Morgan Huws]

P245VDL [245] / [045]:

  • In December 2005 it was transferred to the service fleet for use as an ancillary vehicle. [per Marc Morgan Huws]
    In May 2006 it was converted to B0F for use as a Mobile Ticket Office and was repainted into "Isle of Wight Radio" Blue together with appropriate vinyls. It is likely to be used by Isle of Wight Radio for their outside broadcasts and publicity events. [per Marc Morgan Huws]
    On 20 September 2006 it was renumbered to [045]. [per Marc Morgan Huws]
    By 26 November 2006 it had been fitted with 9 passenger seats (ie. to B9F) for Training and Driver Transfers. [per Marc Morgan Huws]
    From 22 January 2007 (probably until March 2007) it went On Loan to Solent Blue Line: initially as a temporary Travel Shop at Eastleigh Bus Station until 23 February 2007. And then from 28 February 2007 to 26 March 2007 as temporary Staff Transport at Gang Warily. [per Phil Stockley / Anthony Poulton / Marc Morgan Huws]

P247VDL [247] / [047]:

  • In December 2005 it was transferred to the service fleet for use as an ancillary vehicle. [per Marc Morgan Huws]
