Detailed History
A pair of Iveco 49-10 minibuses with Phoenix bodywork were purchased during 1990, H289DDL [289] was purchased brand new whilst G565YTR [288] was an ex-demonstrator and was acquired second-hand. They both entered service in the "Medinalinx" livery of sunburst red, monarch red and white in October 1990.

They were repainted into Mushroom and Dark Green livery in:
June 1995: G565YTR [288]

They were withdrawn from service on:
8 August 2001: G565YTR [288]

Subsequent History

G565YTR [288]:

  • By 2 June 2002 it had been re-licensed until November 2002. Vinyls had also been applied to the windows advertising travel tickets for the Isle of Wight Festival (in June 2002). [per Gavin Rowney]
    By August 2002 it had been converted to B6F. It was subsequently reseated to B11F and was used for staff transfer duties between Ryde Depot and Ryde Bus Station. [per Gavin Rowney]
    By 13 August 2002 it had "PRIVATE" vinyls applied at the top of the windscreen. [per Gavin Rowney]
    By 6 December 2002 it had a Wayfarer ticket machine installed for Training purposes. [per Gavin Rowney]
    By 14 February 2003 it was being used as a Tree Lopper Support vehicle, being fitted with "Highway Maintenance" signs and orange lights. [per Mark Morgan-Huws via. Gavin Rowney]
    On 10 October 2004 it was noted "For Sale £800 + VAT" at the SVOC 75th Anniversary Event at Ryde Depot.
  • In March 2005 it was sold to C. Lewis & J. Coleman (West Wight Bus Preservation Group), Isle of Wight, for preservation. [per Chris Lewis]

H289DDL [289]:

  • By 13 April 2002 it was in use as a Driver Training Vehicle. [per Gavin Rowney]
    It had been down-seated to B8F with two rows of seats being moved closer to the driver on the nearside and facing seats with a table on the offside. DRIVER TRAINING vinyls were applied at the top of the windscreen. [per Paul Budden]
    By 13 August 2002 it had "PRIVATE" vinyls applied at the top of the windscreen. [per Gavin Rowney]
    By 6 December 2002 it had a Wayfarer ticket machine installed for Training purposes. [per Gavin Rowney]
    During September 2004 it was fitted out for use as a Ticket Office at East Cowes for the Bestival event at Robin Hill over the weekend of 11-12 September. [per Gavin Rowney / Mark Morgan-Huws]
  • By 11 August 2005 it was transferred to Solent Blue Line for use as an ancillary vehicle with their roadside team as a publicity vehicle. [per Marc Morgan Huws / Phil Stockley]

  • On 18 January 2007 it was sold for scrapping. [per Phil Stockley]
