Virginia Cleo Andrews was born on June 6, 1923, in Portsmouth,
Virginia. She was the youngest of three children, and only daughter
to William Henry Andrews and Lillian Lilnora Parker Andrews.While Andrews
was a teenager, She slipped down the stairs and suffered severe back
injuries. She went though operation, but it failed. Because of this,
she was forced to remain in a wheelchair for the rest of her life.
In 1972 she completed her first novel, a science fantasy called "The
Gods of the Green Mountain"(1972), unfortunately it was never sell or
published.
Few years later after other novels and short stories Andrews sold her
extraordinary novel, "Flowers in the Attic"(published 1979), which captured
millions of readers all over the world. And it's still one of her most
popular book today. Andrews continued to write even more successful
books. In December of 1986, Andrews died at the age of 62 after being
diagnosed with cancer. At the time of her death, she had over 24 million
books in print and had been translated into many languages such as Dutch,
German, Hebrew, Spanish, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Swedish and
Turkish. She left behind her family and many fans.
