Free Internet Service Providers
www.freeserve.co.uk offers free internet access, unlimited email addresses, 15MB of webspace and 24 hour technical support to internet users in the UK
www.bluelight.com/isp.shtml offers unlimited internet access and support in the United States. This service does not yet support MacOS
http://microav.com offers free unlimited internet access in the US and Canada. This service is supported by Altavista
www.freeonline.com.au offers a limited free ISP service in Australia. Certain sites can be surfed at any time of the day or night, but sites outside of that list can only be surfed at times designated by Free Online for specific periods of time. Despite this, FreeOnline is still one of the best free ISP's currently available in Australia.
Free Media Players
Visit www.real.com to download a variety of free media players that will let you experience music and video on the web. Real Entertainment Center Basic is most highly recommended, as in a single download it lets you play music and video on the web with Real Player, listen to and record your own digital music with Real JukeBox, and efficiently handles your downloads with Real Download. If you are looking for something more specific, all Real Network's free media players and accessories are also available as seperate downloads.
If you're looking to experience Flash presentations and rich media sites on the web, surf to www.macromedia.com to download your free copies of the Macromedia and Flash Web Players. The macromedia site also features Shockwave Singles, a medium which they claim is the future beyond mp3.
Visit www.apple.com/quicktime and download the free Quicktime Player to view Quicktime movies, Virtual Reality scenes, and over 200 kinds of digital media on the web.

Make your way to www.mp3.com and find yourself some free MP3's.
Visit www.napster.com and download the free software that will give you entry into the Napster Music Community. Share MP3 files and chat with fellow users online.
Interested in enjoying mp3 technology, but concerned about internet piracy? www.playj.com offers a free downloadable mp3 player and hundreds of songs licensed for use on the internet in exchange for a small amount of advertising that plays on a user's desktop.

Test drive the premier post production video effects editor, Adobe After Effects, and don't forget to get yourself a copy of the pdf file reader Adobe Acrobat. That's a lot of downloading, and Adobe has a lot more than that to offer! But please beware, most Adobe product demos don't allow you to save the things you make with them until you register their products.
