Our Mission

Home  Our History  Domain Suffix List  The Link Categories

As we stated on page one of this site we are dedicated to finding and providing URL's from all avenues of the internet. We want to make the internet an easier tool to use as well as fun for everyone. We have built this site using Meta search tools to find the URL's. Our site will be broken in to many categories so as to keep the URL's lists as manageable as possible.

It is our goal to have as many URL's as possible on one website. We are aware of the loftiness of said goal but were still going to give it a shot anyway.

You can sort of think of this site a phonebook for the internet

What is A Url?

URL is an abbreviation for Uniformed Resource Locater.* These locaters are the names or addresses of everything on the WWW.  They look like this:

http://www.thisurl.com

Each of the components has a function.

The first four letters, http are the abbreviation for hypertext transfer protocol. This is what makes navigating the WWW possible.
The letters www are short for World Wide Web. The name thisurl is the name for the particular website you are navigating to.
The last three letters, .com in the example above, indicate what type of site a website is. There are several different types of sites and as a result several different indicators.
.com means commercial or business site, .gov means government related site, .edu indicates education related site, .net usually indicates network, .org indicates a site belonging to an organization (usually non profit but not always). .mil is used strictly for military websites and pages. These indicators are called top level domains.**  Also every country in the world has a two letter Url code so you can tell what country a site is hosted in. To see a complete list of them click here
Some URL's can be lenghty  and divided by / marks. This is done to provide faster access to certain pages of large websites.

The URL's shown on this site can be used two ways. Simply click the URL of the page/site you wish to visit or cut and paste the URL into your browser by highlighting the URL.

* Note: URL's are also referred to as Universal Resource Locators at times.

** In addition to com, net, edu, gov, org, mil, the following new top level domains have been recently introduced: areo, biz, coop, info, int, museum, name and pro. There are two additional top level domains used called nato and arpa for explanations of the use of these domains click here
